Hey Vivek, I miss playoff basketball!

Lack of loyalty, duty, and respect; a product of today's emphasis on individual wants and instant gratification. Vivek said it himself, "Stop telling kids to find their passion. Help them be passionate about what they have to do."

I'm so ticked at V. I wish he could be forced to give up the chairmanship. Or maybe he will get so mad and tired of not having his arse kissed that he will leave of his own volition. What did SI rate him, the second worst owner behind the Knicks guy? Sounds about right.

Maybe Mark Mastrov deserves a shot at the top?

As long as he does what's best for our team as an owner, I'm not too worked up if he chooses to still support his home town team. I hate people that abandon their team easily, so I get it.

On the other hand, he's been such a crappy owner, with regards to the product on the court, that I also get people's irritation.

Basically, stop sucking as an owner and people probably won't care that much. Keep sucking and every move you make is going to get magnified.
If Vivek didn't suck as an owner, he wouldn't have time to go to Warriors playoff games.

If I was Joe Lacob, I'd be plastering Viveks face on all kinds of ads. What is better advertisement than showing even other owners wanting to be around your team for the excitement? I'd stream that image if Vivek in the front row straight to India.

You refereed tot he Bucks are a treadmill team which is exactly what the Hawks have been forever and that's a team that gets KOéd in the first round all the time, the Hawks went from treadmill to contenders in the East. Being a playoff treadmill team is really not a bad thing imo I don't know why it's looked down upon.

say what you will but the Hawks have not proved a thing yet....they need to get past LeBron before they get to the championship game. It also helps once again to play in the eastern conference, this is the first year in quite some time that a Western Conference team didn't have to win 48-50 games to get in the playoffs.

The Hawks man handled the West this year...so yeah, they have proven all year they are a threat and surpassed the "treadmill"tag imo.

It is clear that Vivek is a GSW fan first. You do not sleep with your enemy. It just shows u that the one you are warned against, Boogie, is the Loyal one and the champion you are told to love, because he saved us, turns out to love another.

Because he attended a playoff game being held within driving distance of his house?

This thread has gone a wee bit off the rails.
not really.
Any other fan base would be hammering the guy on sports radio and inundating his twitter account. Imagine any other owners doing this. Have you seen Marc Cuban at any of the Spurs games yucking it up after his teams been eliminated?
How bout Jed York BS'ing with paul allen at a seattle game on the sideline in front of the cameras after the 9ers were sent packing?

As was pointed out earlier, at least get your a** up to a suite and cheer in private.

Ignorance from Vivek's standpoint is no excuse. There's a reason we never see owners celebrating the playoff success of other teams in sports nor do we see, say, the owner of Adidas hanging out in a Nike store or the owner of Ford taking photos while driving around in his Chevy.

Ignorance also isn't an excuse as it pertains to the fan base and failing to recognize many of us find little joy in rooting for a Pacific Division rival in the playoffs while we haven't hit 30 wins in 7 years.

The issue isn't us having an opinion on it, most sports fans would have an issue with their owner celebrating the success of another team with that other team. The issue is Vivek failing to recognize that and putting himself in this position publicly. As others have said, sneak into an owners box, watch and go home. Don't go down court side and taking f'ing pictures with GS fans while throwing up a hang loose sign.

In general I think he's misjudged this fan base from day one. PR is an extreme weakness for this guy and those he surrounds himself with and the root of it seems to be a combination of arrogance and naivety towards this market and its history.
Ridiculous...it's not like we're a rival team with the Warriors. We're not a competing business.

I prohibit you from taking any pictures with any of your family or friends who aren't kings fans.

It's like Jed York going out to a Raider's playoff game....there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.

I don't understand. People here want Vivek to be LESS involved in basketball descions, yet when he is, people get upset. He's being a normal human being. I'm pretty dang sure he's great friends with the Warriors ownership. There is nothing wrong with a friend coming in supporting the team in the playoffs.

It's like you're telling me, as a kings fan, NOT to enjoy the playoffs because we're not in it. You're telling me I can't cheer for another team because ours is crap.

Does what Vivek do in his free time really concern anyone? Less than a few months ago people freaked about him taking a trip outside of the country. This fan base has become ugly.

Next thing you know, everyone is going to freak out over what he had for lunch. Chicken you say??? PETA!!! He's not focusing on the kings enough! We're in turmoil and he clearly doesn't care because he's too busy eating chicken!

not really.

Tell me, when's the last time the Kings and Warriors were rivals? Warrior fans would laugh at that simply because of the fact that NONE of our games have been competitive this year. The Kings-Warriors rivalry is as real as a Kings-Jazz rivalry.

There are very few more natural rivalries in the NBA. Its muted only because both teams have largely sucked. But when back in the day Kings fans used to overwhelm the Bay Area fans in their own building, and now the opposite is true, that's a rivalry. Both organizations should be fighting over the same fans.,

According to the latest tweets, he's keeping Pete. He's keeping the GM who fired the coach and ruined the season. So I'm pissed ,,, because I feel like our team will stay "down the drain" in that case. I'm actually just beside myself that this GM survived what he did. It is wrong. So I'm taking this out on Vivek by slamming him for cheering for the Warriors. OK it may not be fair. But I don't like him. I don't trust him. Anything he says to the press is a manipulation and his crowd-sourcing techniques are insulting and offensive. I'm not everlastingly grateful that he saved the team because he didn't. Mayor Johnson saved the team. Vivek seized the opportunity, dumped Tibco for fat profit, made a pace-ton of money on the Kings deal, and yet has just somehow, some way, inexplicably... made it worse than he inherited it. Can you believe that? He did - he actually trashed it. He is the second worst owner in the NBA.

But anyway - I agree with you 206 that the complaining about Vivek being at the W's game is not fair. I am sorry for piling on about that. But we don't have a good owner. That's ok, lots of teams have horrible owners and horrible GM's - we are not without company in that regard. It is nice to have a team after all.

You don't have to apologize for anything. I think we are all just frustrated about this season and how everything has played out.

Next year will be our year!

That's if you believe Pete was behind any of these moves which I don't.

Pete was wheeled out and told to take the "responsibility" for firing Malone or lose his job.

That's my speculative observation anyway.

How dare an owner of an NBA basketball team watch an NBA playoff game in person. Call the national guard
Again what other owner does this? None because when your team gets eliminated you do not go cheer for another team. You do not see Steve Balmer cheering on the IPhone.

Perhaps you should view through a wider lens.

Am I the only one around here really looking forward for next season?
It's strange, because the general tone around here is pure negativity. PDA is the worst GM of the league. Vivek is the worst owner (besides the Knicks guy). Karl is all about Nellie Ball. DMC is about to leave, cause he is forced to play uptempo, while he should be in the post every time we hand him the ball (thx Capt. Factorial for clearing this one up).
Most of these statements are based on interpretations of events, that seem to be unclear to me. Mistakes were made and were admitted. The franchise moved on by signing coach Karl, yet this board remains stuck in the past and refuses to focus on the future.
And to me this future seems pretty bright.
We have been aggressive on the trade market - so I expect some moves from PDA to bolster our roster. We have a draft pick. We have a competent coach. We have two solid young SG to develop, that made some progress within this season. And we have a nice pair of star players to build around. DMC established himself as a defensive force (which was considered impossible on this board two seasons ago), he established himself as a passer and showed awesome versatility on the offensive end under coach Karl.
We may be two seasons away of being competetive in a brutal western conference, but I think we move into the right direction.

Right now I'm having fun watching the Grizzlies, Wizards, Hawks and Warriors in the playoffs, but it would be priceless to finally see DMC emerge onto the big stage of the postseason next year.
And while I know, that it will be difficult to achieve this, I'm still hoping and counting the days until the summerleague to see some Kings basketball again.
