Trade Deadline Rumors

#61
I'm very worried about our deadline moves. Naturally we once again hear nothing about getting some defense in here. It's literally been the same targets since they took over. Versatile, up tempo, shooters yet the players they've brought in even to do that have failed.
position-less 3.0 bulls***. shooting, dunking, running.

I think we need more bench scoring first. Sessions, Stauskas, Hollins etc. are not going to get it done at a high enough level.

I like everything about AA but he doesn't play defense. Hasn't played any for 3 years
Really! Go ask McLemore whether he plays defense or not. Not sure what your watching, but there's a difference between not playing defense, and not playing defense the way you used to play defense. Frankly I'm just a little tired of this, either your a great defender, or you don't play any defense at all, with no in between. I don't think Afflalo is the defender he used to be, but he's still a good defender. Put him on a team where he's not asked to be one of the primary scorers, and I think you'll see his defense improve.

Of course Dragić would take the starting spot from Collison but you still will play Collison and Dragić significant minutes which means they will spend some significant time on the court together. It gives you two ball handlers, two players capable of hitting a spot up 3 and two players able to penetrate to the rim.

Its highly unlikely that we can get the guy but if we did he would fit in beautifully and would solidify that back court. Dragić, Collison and McLemore is a pretty solid back court rotation.
What do you think it'll take to get him?

I agree. I don't know if people still think he's a great defender, which he isn't, but he isn't a bad one either. On offense, he's been a top option the last few years which isn't his role. As a complimentary scorer, he'd be better. Just not sure I'd waste an asset on him unless I knew he'd come back on a reasonable deal.

I could talk myself into any of the names mentioned thus far, assuming the price is right.

Afflalo has made sense as a Kings target for a while now. Maybe SLIGHTLY less so since McLemore started improving. I would worry about stunting his growth with Afflalo here, particularly because Afflalo's contract is basically over after the season. He could pop in, take McLemore's spot as the starter, play 30 games, and leave. I don't know what the Kings are getting in that scenario.

Wilson Chandler is also kind of interesting, and at least he's under contract for one more season. I'd say he's a little more versatile than Afflalo in the sense that he's played a little SG and PF in the past, and he's more accustomed to coming in off the bench. Afflalo has been a consistent starter since his third year in the league. Chandler can be moved around a bit. Decent player, but again, I'm not giving up anything of major value for him.

I'd put Ilysova in the same camp as Chandler. Decent. Versatile. Under contract ... not worth a real asset.

Jerebko is name I like hearing. He should come at a cheap price, and I still feel like there might be a player there. A small gamble.

Well Pho screwed themselves as I see Dragic leaving no matter what. If they move IT, they'll be left with Bledsoe.
Yeah, I agree. At least it looks that way. I love IT, but if I had to choose between IT and Dragic, I'm taking Dragic ten times out of ten. I would love to have him on the Kings. Should be interesting to see how it plays out. Don't know if we can be a player in that market or not. Maybe if we can free up some more space.

Dragic would be such a great fit with this team. Can create, has great handles, can shoot, can play off the ball as well which means that there are stretches in games where you can play him and Collison together.

I still think we are better off bidding in the off season, big gamble being he walks.

I still grt the feeling that we will get Ilyasova as a stretch 4. Not great, but not terrible either. He is a solid rebounder when he wants to be. He is no Reggie or DeMarcus by any stretch but a solid rebounder.

I mean, bringing in Larry Sanders as a buyout guy is a no brainer. Issue is, why would he choose Sacramento?

I guess it depends on his priorities. The Kings can, and should, offer him a starting role and 30 minutes a game. They are probably one of the only teams that can do that.

It's highly unlikely, but he's worth contacting.

Ersan saves us money on year 3 if Thompson or Landry go out.

Has 400,000 guarantee on the third year.

I'm not sure how much of a sweetener it would take.

Would be fantastic to get out of the Landry contract a year earlier if we could.

Get us Larry Sanders. George Karl will knock some sense into him.
No. Larry Sanders has problems but not the kind where you can beat the sense into him. That's my guess. Just recently he said he didn't want to play basketball anymore. Are you going to beat motivation into him? Can't do it. Now if there was a way to get Henson, I'd think twice.

Please, no more on Larry Sanders and if you insist on the pipe dream, look him up on the internet and see the way he has been a problem. Then propose the move if you till want to.

I am worried about PDA wanting to make a big move. Why? I worry that he just wants to generate interest and doesn't feel the driving need to put together a eam that works. He got Karl. That's a big deal.
