Corbin is a serviceable coach, but he is not coaching this team right now. PDA, Vivek and Mullin are the ones pulling the strings, Cousins's postgame interview was clearly a cry for help. #SaveourKings
I don't get why Corbin is co-operating with this crap. What is going to happen if he doesn't? They're going to fire him? Compromising his professional integrity will cost his career more than being fired because he didn't follow "orders". I'm pretty sure he'll get his pay either way, so it's obvious the best thing for him would be to ignore management and play to win.

I don't like watching this team anymore. I don't like watching games with no defense, just trying to score one point more than your opponents. I was really enjoing this team at the beginning of the season, when they were competing every night, playing good defense. It looked like we were trying to build something solid. Now what do we have? A team that needs an overtime to beat the Knicks (the Knicks...) and that allows 129 points at home. I'm depressed....
Maybe it's me, maybe ai don't understand this NBA 3.0 thing. Maybe because I'm the kind of guy who loved watching the Bulls fight in the playoffs, full of injures, but still fighting every single night and having a chance to win thanks to their defense. And that team had a chance to win every night, despote all the injuries. And they were fun to watch, even if they scored 90 points per game. If you don't like watching a team playing D, you don't understand basketball.

"We have to get back to being the real Kings. That's wanting to defend at a high level, taking pride in actually playing defense. We can't be a team that comes out every night and tries to outscore people. That's not us."
Boogie forgot to drink the Kool-Aid! Gotta wonder if the rest of the team may not feel exactly the same way.
I think the rest of the team feels exactly the same way. They're Boogie's team and they showed it tonight.

I agree that we defend poorly and DMC rightfully pointed this out with Kayte after the game.
But let me add, that if we run our offense the way we did in the first quarter, we would still blow the Knicks out.
In the first DC did a great job, setting up DMC in positions to score. They got a nice Pick&Roll/Pop game going and DMC with the slightest advantage over his defender, that tries to cover the ground he lost by guarding the screen, is just unguardable. We came back to this in the 4th for 3 posessions and guess what - DMC scored with ease on every single one of them.
We reverted back to our usual 1vs1 playstyle for most of the game and the Knicks hung in there for no reasons at all.

Like DMC said - move the ball, run plays instead of this stagnant 1vs1 ball and defend at a high level and this team is tough to beat, if our big fella is healthy.

This game is a joke! The people in charge of this franchise are a fraud! This is not Hollywood or Bollywood. This is SACRAMENTO! You created an absolute MESS and you need to ****ing fix it before you lose the fans for good.

You have obviously lost your franchise player with your dribble! Admit your mistake and correct it. This game was truly disgusting!

You cant run every possession if you want to play defense, scoring in the half court is also a way of playing defense. It controls the pace, stops fast breaks (because you are not taking quick bad shots either) and lets everyone get back on defense. This NBA 3.0 **** has also really marginalized Jason Thompsons usage, wouldnt surprise me to see this FO trade Thompson away...

The one thing I think we have to realize that Malone isn't coming back.

Given that, the FO needs to bring someone in. Someone strong, with credibly, at the very least to say, "we ****ed up. This is how we're going to try to fix it."

Well see, that is exactly what I was saying about Boogie now: he's the one guy PDA can't **** with. You can take away his coach, but if Boogie himself wants to play a defensive style, then woe be the scurrying rodent that gets under his big size 16 sneakers. So he's the hope now, along with all his other responsibilities he has to be the coach and voice of winning basketball. And as he's matured in dog years here, who knows, maybe. If Michael Jordan was our franchise player and Gerbil happened, he would, well, A) tear the rodent's throat out with his teeth and leave the body by the highway; but B) he would drive the team to play his way, his style, and f the front office. Its immensely unfair that all this has to get thrown on Cousins' plate when he's still fighting to breakthrough onto his first All Star team, but he IS the hope at this point. He can return us to at least some semblance of winning basketball just by demanding it himself as the franchise player.

The scary thing is I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Boogie moved if he doesn't buy into this nonsense, such is the delusion of PDA/Vivek.

I hope I'm wrong, but it's a genuine fear. I'll be out the door too if that happens.
I don't think much of this FO but I think moving Cousins outta here is a step past even these guys. They know they would have a full on fan revolt on their hands. If they want to see 1,000 fans in the seats for games, go ahead and move cousins.

You can't kill an idea that a person has firmly implanted in his mind. The FO may have fired Malone, but they didn't eliminate the idea that Cousins firmly believes in - defense wins games. The legacy of Malone lives on in Cousins. It will not go away no matter how much PDA and Vivek talk about pace and 3.0.
he's frustrated and you can tell by the last interview. he can see the crap flung from the 3.0 front office ain't working. the clock has officially started for big cuz trade demand.

pretty sure many people will be also. it's a joke what they are doing.

FO should never be crazy enough to do something like that. BUT I think they will try as hard as they can to make Boogie buy into the idea. However, before they can even do that, they need to have stability on the team. They need to let him know what's exactly going on. You can't have Corbin continuing to coach knowing he'll be out of here next season. We need more stability and direction.

FO is not making me very happy right now. But honestly, I think the crowd really enjoyed the game last night.. Maybe they're looking into more crowd reactions vs social media reaction? There's more fans at games vs fans that tweet at them.

Since Malone got fired.

Points against:
104
108
108
128
115
135

We're giving up 115.7 PPG under Corbin!

For perspective, 105 PPG, just over 10 PPG better would put us at 28th out of 30 teams! Third from last across the entire league FFS.

It's like watching someone eat soup with a fork.
Thanks for your inspiring news on the ocassion of a very nice win and upbeat kickoff of our four game road trip. Don't you think our fans on here a nd elsewhere aren't totally familiar with how are team is doing? Hate to be a pain by posting this. Nothing personal. Just POVs that clash. Kings, go beat Brooklyn tomorrow and you have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

If Cousins' isn't happy, we're ****ed as a franchise. We need to listen to him right now because once he becomes really unhappy, he'll start to doubt his future in Sac.

in a sick way i want him to demand a trade. maybe it'll slap some sense in that jr high mvp coach that some of the crap isn't working.

i mean, how much do you think vivek will put up w/ losing seasons w/o cuz and w/ mully as HC? that'll be the biggest test of it's not about wins and about style. lots of run and gun w/ derrick williams type players on the team.

If Cousins demands a trade, this boat is officially sinking. The only reason it's even afloat right now is because of Cousins. Also, if they trade Cousins they can say "hey he wanted to be traded." If he is going to be traded, then I want it to be because THEY don't want him here. That way, they would alienate themselves to such an extent that they would either have to step down or everyone would have to be fired. Not that I would care, I go where Cousins goes. I have always been a Kings fan, but if they trade Cousins, they stoop down to a step below the Maloofs. And that's some low territory.

What'll be interesting is in the next few practices, is what happens when Corbin, after being directed from the weasel to do so, focuses on offense, pace and implementing a more up and down system and Cuz responds with, "why are we talking offense, we need to concentrate on defense, that's why we're losing games".

Then what?

I see a similar dialogue happening this week. Cuz is not only a very intelligent guy but he's one who questions. Those quotes last night were the first steps of resistance. More usually happens behind the scenes on the practice court. I'm very curious to see how this goes when Cuz and PDA start butting heads through Corbin as the middle man. I don't really see Cuz accepting practices focused on pace and tempo and he's already singled out the issue of needing to get back to our defensive roots.

@BK
@Boston
@Minn
@Detriot

That's a 4-0 road trip based on our talent and the defensive mindset we had under Malone. 3-1 at worst. We start dropping these games while Corbin focuses on implementing offense, this could turn ugly fast.

Good, it needs to. Vivek won't listen unless we fall apart. While he may be an idiot in regards to basketball, the man wants success, it's what he has known for a majority of his life. If he isn't successful, then I am sure change will come. But we need to fail doing it his way. Then there are no excuses. His system failed, or as I would wager, would lead him to the conclusion that Corbin isn't good enough, and we would introduce a new coach.

The problem, and most fans recognize this, Cuz recognizes it, Rudy probably also as well as many in our locker room, is that we're not going to be in a good position to beat BK, or Boston, or Minn by giving up 115 PPG, let alone a team like OKC when we return from the trip.

A win against one of the worst teams in the league in NY, which we barely held onto while going to OT and giving up 135 doesn't hide that issue, which is an issue that makes this team far less competitive.

When did Vivek and the FO say that they no longer valued good defense? I have heard them say that they want a more widen open and fluid offense, but when did they say that they do not want good defense? Of course, when you play a faster paced game, all scores tend to increase as the number of possessions for both teams increase. However, you can still play great defense with a wide open offense.

I do not think that the FO would disagree with what DMC said last night. All would agree that the D needs to improve I think. Plus, did anyone notice that under this new style last night, DMC not only looked liked an All-Star, he also looked liked like an MVP candidate. Extremely impressive for someone who has been sick.

I am cautiously excited and enjoying it.
