Malone fired

Shocker. Pete, Vivek, mully can all go to hell.

OK, I'm going to assume he slightly misspoke. I doubt that he really meant that and his answer would probably be that he believes the style will bring more wins. Also he was speaking mostly in reference to the early season wins, but still, that just sounds awful for a team that hasn't even sniffed decent basketball in almost a decade. If this doesn't work, oh boy, heads are going to roll and Pete D'allesandro will never have another job in the league again!!! You can count on that for sure. Have to admit, he's got grapefruits.

If Karl is the guy, does that make anyone feel better?

Twitter seems to like that as a positive conclusion to this story.

I'm not sold.
No malone wasn't a problem you don't get rid of him I don't care who you hire. You think the players are jumping for joy cause Karl is coming no they want to know why a successful coach they love is gone.

I'm am sickened by some people in here acting like Karl coming is ok. No Malone brought us winning basketball people act like he was loosing dude produced.

Apparently every nba player can excel in a running game, it's just a mindset. Tell me why any nba player would want to play for this franchise, including the two stars we have?

Tell me he did not actually say that

Oh he said it, or at least paraphrased, but I don't think that's really what he meant. I think he meant he's still looking at the bigger picture. Even so, he should get nice and blasted for that comment. Gosh, it sounds like the Maloofs are still running the team. Style over substance? Wow.

Style this, style that. Is that all this fool cares about?

"We have the players that can run, just has to be a mindset".

No, the best young center in the league is not built for running. Neither is Rudy. Our 9-5 start had **** all to do with running.

PDA wants to basically throw everything out the window aside from up and down basketball. His contradictions aren't lost on me either. This is just unbelievable. Went from a respected, up and coming team to the laughing stock of the league in a matter of a few weeks.

The lies, the contradictions, the misrepresentation of our golden era team, the not understanding what we have and what will win. This is heading towards a train wreck. Foolishness flows through our organization.

Yeah 300 pound C's who dominate everything in front of them should be running up and down the floor. That way the game is nice and even. No more of that paltry *** kicking stuff. Great teams control the paint and the clock.

I think we need to take a deep breath and relax.

1. We still have the same players.

2. We may end up with a really really good coach. Someone who can take this team to yet another level.

3. The future is still bright. Yes, it's called optimism. Try it sometimes. :)

4. I really, really like Malone but if I have to choose between George Karl or Mike Malone, I'd have to go with Karl. Obviously I say that not knowing if Karl is actually coming on board. If he is, then it'd wipe away this bad taste, at least for me.

5. Malone is going to be fired/let go eventually. I never thought it'd come this soon but it was always obvious that he is a bridge between where the Kings were and where they want to go. The Kings would eventually need a coach like Karl (make it happen PDA) if they are to be serious contender. You can argue that the Kings are not at that level yet but they will need a coach with grativas (like Adelman did) eventually.

6. Mike Malone is NOT the only good coach out there.

7. Cousins and Gay are still here and they aren't going anywhere. So just relax.
.
I don't think your getting it ...for some of us and I can only speak for myself but am sure others feel the same, we are going in the right direction and the guy with the most basketball knowledge and the one who pulled this team together from Maloofian oblivion, he gets fired and we are still left with PDA, Vivek and for me the clincher is Mullins. I think he is in Vivek's ear and he is a failure.

I think they got rid of a coach who could have gotten us there if we had given him the correct pieces. Defensive coach who got zero defensive acquisitions and was still making it work. Sorry but I had more faith in Malone than PDA, Vivek (seriously, pull your head out, the Reno experiment will fail) and ****ing Chris Mullins.

After the Maloofs' and the late Al Davis I'm reaching my breaking point with incompetent ownership. One damn second of 4 on 5 bull crap basketball and i'll lose it. **** watching some megalomaniac break his new toy.

How can it not be about wins and losses when a) your owner/boss flat out said this season was about wins/losses and b) you just fired the coach because you thought he didn't win enough and you have higher expectations for the roster?

Or is the idea that higher expectations aren't related to wins/losses?

I mean, WTF?! My head hurts. PDA is making David Khan look like the second coming.

Really don't see how he can live down that it's not about wins and losses. This can/should blow up in their faces.
It already is. Every media outlet is basically painting Malone as a sacrificial lamb on Vivek's alter to crap basketball.

They're just going to look worse when we start getting blown out on a nightly basis.

"We're scoring over 100 points a night, but we keep losing by 20! I just don't UNDERSTAND!" - Vivek, when we're bottom of the West again.

Protip: insulting another poster is an easy way to get banned, even if you happen to be right.

It turns out that I was misinformed: you're not the fire Malone guy, you're the guy who wants to trade half the team for Josh Smith. My bad; you have my unconditional apology on that regard.

With that said, that still doesn't give you the right to insult other posters, no matter how mad you are, so you've used up all your free passes. Call another poster, any other poster, a moron and see what happens.
Fair enough. I don't like being labeled virtually an idiot for blindly wanting to get rid of Malone at all costs. I said plenty of negative things about Malone, but I didn't want him fired until we saw what we had post Cousins injury.

The Josh Smith thing was more in my realm, but half the team is much more than I was thinking. I was thinking McCallum/Landry/filler for Smith/ filler which I think is perfectly reasonable considering we got a much better player in Gay, a player with a ton of similar problems himself, with a bunch of mediocrity going out.

I apologize for the personal insult. Very tense and uncertain times around here and my emotions are running rampant. It's been the most rollercoaster year I could imagine a team having.....and I'm also a Raiders fan. Rough life.

This firing may or may not stop the Kings from getting to where they need to go.

It's simply too early to tell. We don't don't even know who the real replacement is. We haven't seen one single game under the new coach.

The Kings may emerge from this stronger and better than before or they may fall off a cliff. You simply don't know yet. All this panic, doom, and gloom is way too premature and may end up being out of proportion when we look back on it.
