Malone fired

I've read on here and some people did not care for Malone well they got what they wanted and it was shocking but its not like Corbin will do any better

Look, I'm not a fan of isolation basketball, and apparently neither is the front office. And that's what you were getting with Malone. like it or not.
I think that in the collective internet freak-out going on here, this is something that has been largely overlooked. Malone is fundamentally not the right coach for the team that Vivek wants to field, especially considering that his offensive schemes are so limited. We really did seem to have two basic plays: 1) Dump to Cuz in the high post and wait for something good to happen, 2) Rudy Iso. And with Cousins out, in order to do something other than Rudy Iso every play, we modified our scheme to 1.1) Dump to Hollins or Evans in the high post and wait for something good to happen. And that was destined to be a failure.

So I suspect that after last season, Vivek knew he had made a mistake. His mistake, not PDA's mistake. He was caught in a quandary of his own making. His vision of how basketball should be played, rightly or wrongly, wasn't being represented on the court by the team he owned on the court he owned. So it was only a matter of time. I suspect that Vivek is an impatient man who likes to see results. And I suspect that got the better of him.
I think you're probably right on this one. He hired a coach before he hired a GM, and he hired a coach that didn't conform to his or his eventual GM's philosophy. It was only a matter of time, and if reports are to be believed, it was already in the offing over the summer.

Corbin is definitely dead man walking - I hope they don't let that go on too long, nobody deserves that.
Agree with this completely. I was no fan of Keith Smart, but seeing him sent to the NBA Lottery when everyone knew he was not going to be the coach the next year was one of the saddest things I have ever seen.

it seriously looks like our front office threw away the good thing that was being created here, so they can pursue Vivek's vision of run n gun positionless basketball. THIS ISN'T YOUR DOUGHTERS 5TH GRADE TEAM, STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE DECISION MAKING!

Hearing a rumor that Karl just said on radio that he is open to come to the kings and would welcome starting the process asap. Can anyone confirm?
yeah he said he interested in coaching again..bt he did also said there is a process in all of this, hes sure the kings have questions they need to ask him and and he has questions he has to ask the kings..

Stop with this, please. Unless we hire a rookie head coach, that style isn't going to be implemented at all. None of the candidates being thrown around would ever accept this job if they had to go that route.

"Hey, PDA on the phone here. Is this George?"
"Coach Karl."
"Sure, um, Coach Karl. Hey, would you be interested in coaching the Kings? We've got a revolutionary new idea we want to try out, and with your pedigree, the players are sure to buy in. Have you seen Grinnell play?"
"Where the hell is Grinnell?"

If Karl is the guy it's Pete for sure. The reason Karls name has even come up is because of his relationship to PDA. If they hire Nellie I'll suspect Mullin. If Mullin gets the gig I'll suspect he's insane.
I will suspect everyone is insane and has lost their minds if Mullins coaches the Kings.

What about Mike Fratello, Eric Musselman, Mike Brown, Mike D'Antoni, Lawrence Frank, Chris Jent, or possibly just continue to roll with Tyrone Corbin?

Thoughts on any of these coaches? Please add more I'm interested in some other possibilities!

That Eric Musselman name sounds familiar. Wait a minute, I think I've heard that name before....

Your timing is awfully suspicious.

I think this is my last comment about this move for now.

This was handled extremely poorly. I can't even think of a counter argument to that notion. It makes the Kings franchise look impatient, bumbling, devious and untrustworthy.

And as a fan it means my level of scrutiny for the ownership and the front office just got ratcheted up.

In the unlikely event that somehow the Kings hire a new coach and the team DOES play better then I'll be able to admit that it was the right move but still feel it was done in the wrong way.

But if (as I expect) the team plays worse then I will view it as a complete blunder of a move.

In my mind we had a good coach. So I will accept NO excuses from the Kings ownership and front office if the team doesn't play even better now.

Man, I'm tired of all this hysteria. Malone is a decent coach, and hiring the coach before the GM was a bad move. However, take a breath and let's just see what happens.

That might be the worst list possible to assemble unless you want to add Chris Mullen to it. I mean at least John Calapari or Mike Krzyzewski would add substantial gravitas.

Why doesn't Vivek just coach? When was the last time we had a owner/coach?

Well, that's one good thing about this, now there is a huge hand hanging over this groups head just waiting to point it's finger in their direction. Maybe there is a plan. All we can do is hold out hope.

you must have missed the reports about how they shoved Royce White onto coach Malone and got mad when he wasn't playing him. They wanted Josh Smith, smartly Coach Malone said don't do that, and they tried to do it anyway.

They don't care what coach we have, they will try to turn this into the disaster gimmick ball being played in Reno
