As I pointed out yesterday, the thing about having a team that's built around one player, and was assembled with role players to compliment the skillset of that player, is that it only works as long as that player is healthy. Regardless of whether you think Harden is better than Howard, or vice versa, the Rockets' role players were assembled to compliment Harden's game, which means that the Rockets will continue to be competitive as long as Harden remains healthy, no matter how many 'starters' they're missing. They can play without Beverly, and Jones, and even Howard, because their team is not built in such a way that they need those guys; the usefulness of those players is a function of what Harden can do, and nobody else.

Our problem is that the locus of our entire identity is DeMarcus Cousins, which only works as long as Cousins can play.

And, FYI, Houston is only missing three starters.

This is absolutely correct. Houston started to play great when Harden got into town. So they had Asik, Lin, Parsons, etc. with or without Howard and the game has been just about the same. In my opinion Houston has worse lineup this year than last year (Ariza is less good than Parsons and Lin did have a scoring impact). Still they play very well because of Harden. However, come playoffs, every team getting Houston will close on Harden and Houston will struggle in the playoffs.

It it TOO early for Ebola jokes? I have a twisted sense of humor but Im thinking it may be too early still.

We really need to play Hollins and see if he's got ANYTHING. If you cant play the guy you have tagged as your backup center, then you need a new backup center. I say bring him in and see if giving him some run gets him going. Because the Kings are short on big men and they really need to see what they have at that position before the trade deadline. The Kings most pressing need is a big man to rotate in with JT and Cuz, because using Landry or Evans at center is just not doable against a majority of teams in the NBA.
