A complex title, for a simple concept: Welcome to the Second All Time Kings Fantasy Draft, wherein you will get a chance to draft your own team of Sacramento Kings from all the Sacramento Kings who have ever been.
I will now copy paste my intro from the last one of these in 2010:
"But Mr. Bricklayer, I am ignorant pond scum and can't possibly remember who was on the team in 1989, or how many points Randy Beuer averaged in 1993-94!"
Pan down -- the work has been done for you (and if you don't think that was some work, I've had this window open for a solid week putting it together). Every player ever to suit up for the Kings, every player to ever play even 1 game as a King, has been listed, summarized, and had his career stats linked to. There are no excuses. This is your franchise. Let's get it on.
Below are the rules, with one
BIG NEW NOTE: last time around it became obvious that due to a certain lack of credible superstars in Kings history, that the people who were able to score the top few draft positions had an enormous insurmountable edge by being able to trot out Chris Webber or Mitch Richmond. So this year I have decided to be clever in order to get around that problem:
-- each team will consist of 9 players + 1 coach
-- but 3 players, Chris Webber, Mitch Richmond, and now DeMarcus Cousins have been set aside as special franchise players. There will be 4 "copies" of each player available for selection. i.e. 4 Webbers, 4 Cousins, and 4 Richmonds. Each team may only select 1 franchise player, who may be taken during any round of the draft, to start/anchor their team with. It will make sure everybody gets a cornerstone player to make this a viable competition.
Otherwise, same old rules, with a couple of minor adjustments:
Da Rules
1) The draft will be serpentine and last 10 rounds -- enough to draft 9 players and 1 coach.
2) Each participant will have 24 hours to make each pick, beginning from the moment that the player ahead of them picks.
Note: as a courtesy when you make your own pick, immediately send a PM to the person after you in the draft order. However receipt of such a PM is a courtesy only -- if you do not receive such a PM and take more than 24 hours to make a pick, you will be skipped over and have to make a makeup pick later.
3) All of the players' stats are linked up below. With each selection please indicate which of the player's seasons for the Kings you would like to draft. If a player was here from 91-92 until 96-97, then indicate which of those seasons you are taking. It would be greatly appreciated if you listed the stats that season as well -- otherwise I will have to go look them up. Note that players can still only be drafted once -- 3 people can't draft the same player and just taker different seasons. Note 2: games played stats from the strike shortened '98-'99 and 2011-12 season will be prorated out over 82 games. Hence a player who played in 47 of the 50 games (94%) in 98-99 will be given credit for having played in the equivalent of 77 games (82 x.94) in anormal 82 game season.
4) when the draft is completed, any player may freely exchange any of their drafted players for any undrafted free agent. I'm thinking first come first seved there -- just whenever it is posted.
5) each participant will be responsible for $100 in remuneration to Bricklayer for his work in this thread.
6) we'll figure out the exact post draft mechanics of the playoffs later. Likely I will ask in PM for everybody to send in how many games they think each team could win agiainst a real NBA schedule, average out th result, and use that to rank the playoffs. But we'll see.
Come on, its the history of your Kings. Come have fun wallowing in the fugly.
