Jimmer's trade value

A team that is pretty much complete could really use jimmer more than us. If we had and kind of strong defense and ball handling at either guard position, jimmer could help us more. As it stands anytime jimmer is, no matter who his backcourt running mate is we are very weak on defense. Add a shot blocker and a defensive pg with passing skills and jimmer becomes valuable asset to us off the bench for 12-15 min a game. As it stands the other two players we need are more pressing and would probably have to include jimmer to acquire.

Two years from now if/when we have those two players we will be wishing for jimmer back.

A team that would benefit from having Jimmer on the roster 1) already has good ballhandling at 1 or 2 other positions, 2) has good defense at 3-4 other positions, 3) does not need a creative point guard. I'm looking only at likely and possible playoff teams who could use outside shooting. Non-playoff teams can bid on him in the offseason if they so choose. There's still the option of a non-playoff team looking for a minor salary dump, but the Kings aren't really wanting to acquire more long-term salary right now.

1) San Antonio. Always looking for floor spreaders and bench points. He would do well in Pop's system as both a high character guy and a guy who can feed off Ginobli, Duncan, and Bellinelli. Basically would play the Gary Neal role from last year.

2) OKC. He would be the replacement for Fisher who has been pretty bad for about 5 years now. Once Westbrook came back, he would be out of the rotation, though.

3) Memphis. Memphis needs a backup point guard and three point shooting. Unfortunately, they need their backup point guard to be a creative type. It's not an ideal fit, but Jimmer might be able to fill that Jerryd Bayless role from last year. Jimmer running off Marc Gasol screens would be deadly.

4) Clippers. Reddick 2.0 playing off Crawford and injury insurance for Collison. No immediate need for his services, but he would add more ranged help to the team off the bench.

5) Knicks. Woodson still prefers a 1 in 4 out offense which suits Jimmer perfectly. His point guards have been pretty abysmal, with the sole exception of Prigioni who is very old. Arguably, Jimmer's defense would be the best of any of their point guards.

6) Miami. Another perimeter oriented offensive team. As long as he was playing with one of James or Wade, Jimmer would help the team. For that reason, we should not trade him to Miami.

7) Chicago. You just can't keep Chicago down. They may have to blow up the team and fire Thibodeau to pull off the tank at this point. If they're making another postseason push, they could use more floor spreaders and especially a combo guard to run with Rose late in games to keep defenses honest. I don't know if Jimmer would see the floor with Thibodeau, though.

8) Nets. Jason Terry has been pretty bad this year. Shaun Livingston has been less bad, but still bad. The biggest problem here is that the Nets need bench scoring, but they lack creators at other positions. Another okay, but not great fit.

Jimmer is trade filler at this point, or a second rounder at best. He's a great shooter with good IQ, not a backup PG. He would do godd on teams like Miami where he doesn't need to handle the ball. If we can turn him to Andre Miller it would be very good, even at 39.

Agreed. But for the record Andre Miller is 37, soon to be 38. I keep seeing here on KingsFans that he's 40 or 39 or whatever. Thus Dre is about 2 years older than Kobe and about 2 years younger than Nash. Miller has only missed 3 games due to injury in his long NBA career - that alone is amazing.

Jimmer can be the player we saw at BYU in the perfect team.. I think he can be a starter for a team that needs instants offense with a defensive 2. He can also be a role player like Kyle Korver, or a combo guard. The kings suck at developing players not named DMC. Tyreke and T-Rob(who we gave up on) for example. If we would have let Tyreke develop at the PG position, imagine what he could have been now? T-Rob has potential, but we decided we didn't want to take on it.. Kings don't have the best player development, and this isn't to say the Kings ruined Jimmer, but we've been pretty bad in how we should have utilized players in the past. It might be development or it might be coaching. Hickson who has done great everywhere else, but with the kings should say something.. we tried to have him score off the bench and ended up waiving him after half the season in.

I'm as big a Jimmer fan as there is on this board, but he isn't ever going to be the BYU Jimmer. If he had a better handle, a quicker release, and the perfect team situation, he could play like Steph Curry and just jack threes all day, and it would be exciting and never ever get you a championship.

If he is going to have a lengthy NBA career, he is going to have to play the Steve Kerr/Paxson/Fisher role. Those guys didn't take a lot of shots or run the offense. Most of the time, they were the 4th option on offense. They spread the floor out for the slashing guards/forwards to get to the rim and hit a decent percentage of their threes and free throws.

If we had a second strong ballhandler/slashing guard at the 2 to pair up with Gay, I would be petitioning to start Jimmer over IT because he is a better fit in that lineup offensively and not any worse than IT defensively. As is, there just isn't a good place to play him on this team. He is doing okay running the second unit, but that doesn't play to his strengths.

For the team's sake, I hope they trade him at the deadline to get something out of that pick. There just isn't a role for him on the team going forward. Worst case scenario is that the team keeps him past the trade deadline and he walks in the offseason. That's not horrible, but it's just not good asset management.

On the perfect bad team, he would be able to be that player. He has potential to be a player like Stephen Curry if he improves in all aspects of his game, but really unlikely he comes anywhere near him. I think he needs to really improve on his handles to help any team out. I'm not sure why, but his handles sucks for a guy who has played pg throughout his career.

I don't see why he couldn't start as PG for the team. It would give IT a much better role, but I feel like IT would try to take all the shots from the 2nd unit.. I actually liked when Malone kept Gay in there along with Jimmer. When Jimmer was the pg in that lineup, he didn't have to be the primary ball handler and he looked good.

I don't think Jimmer will ever play to his strengths unless a team gives him the chance to start and a consistent 25mins per game.

I really hope we can get something out of Jimmer. I doubt we'll resign him, but a 2nd round pick in this upcoming draft would be like a 1st rounder in last years.. plus we don't have a 2nd this year.

Even thou I thought the Denver announcers were generally smucks, they did have a comment that I thought was interesting. In terms of Jimmer, (if I heard them correctly) they claimed that the team was knowingly playing him out of position at PG and that he should be a SG. I do think in the right situation he could be deadly as a specialist off the bench.

I'm not trying to be mean when I say this but after this season Jimmer won't play another minute in this league.
If you can get anything out of him please do. That is just my opinion, not hatin''

awwww.. .My kitty is turning 13 this year and she's as spry as a kitten still. I have a feeling she's going to live to 20+ year old. That's how healthy she still is. She's small, has a wonderful shiny coat and her joints are all still topnotch. Of course, I do teeth (brushing), joint checks on her all the time, and stretch her. I only give her the best organic food, and I give her real fish every other week (need to allow time for mercury to dissipate). Of course I give her plenty of love too. I think I am actually her pet sometimes :) She was a dumpster kitty. I found her in the dumpster when she was a kitten.

You have a stretching routine for your cat? Now that is some serious dedication

It's mostly just testing range of motion to make sure everything is OK. Maybe about once a week or so. Cats are very good at hiding their problems until it's too late. Seems when they get older they tend to get cancer in the joints so probing the joints I can find problems with her before it's too late. If something was hurting she would react to me rubbing her joints. She's almost 13 years old so she's a senior cat. It's all the basic stuff that vets will do during checkups. I had volunteered with a veterinarian for years so I can perform normal checkups on cats and dogs. Plus I love my kitty.

I have had her since she was a kitten and I basically saved her life. She was in a dumpster and the truck was coming by the same day to pick up the trash. Not sure who put her there or why but It was a stroke of luck for her to get me as her pet (hehe).

I have 3 cats, with all being around 2.5 years old. First time cat owner and I now wonder what took me so long. They are the best.

They are definitely spoiled with a water fountain, an auto pet feeder dispenser, a litter robot (greatest pet invention ever!), a few cat scratch loungers, and the best quality food. They eat much healthier than me. Lol.

Oh yeah, so where were we? That's right, talking about Jimmer......

I think the Kings are content with Freddette, he's progressing slowly but atleast he is. Def see him as a contributing role player in the future while being a fan favorite.

I think there are teams interested in him and a deal is in the works at the trade deadline. I would be shocked if he's on the roster after the deadline. The best offer will get Jimmer which may not be much of an offer.
I dont know about not much of an offer. He is a serviceable PG with a deadeye shot from 3. If he got wide open looks he would knock down more than he would miss. Trouble is he cant get himself open. If he plays on a team that forces defenses to sag into the paint, he could probably get more open looks and hit more shots from the perimeter. that makes him valuable to many teams. A playoff team might want that extra scoring punch coming off the bench to bolster their lineup. I have been seeing a lot of rumors about Andre Miller for Jimmer, and although we need a solid veteran PG, not sure we know what we have with Jimmer yet. Time will tell I am sure

I think Jimmer is doing his own thing when he gets out there. He is just teaching himself PG on the fly.

I don't think other teams are that interested though.
