Why do people keep repeating that Adelman doesn't play young players? Did anyone not follow him after he left Sac, or are they basing his coaching philosophy simply off his years here?
In Hou, he played regularly and developed three PG's during his years there in Brooks, Lowry and Dragic. Played a rookie, 2nd rounder in Buddinger 20 mins a night as a rook. In Minn he showed zero hesitation with Rubio. He threw Shved into the fire as a rook. And for all the talk of Williams not getting a fair shake from him, he started Williams 71 times over his first two seasons including 56 starts last year.
Two ideas don't stack up here which are being repeated.
1) Adelman doesn't play youngsters. Look past his time here with one of the top teams in the league, you'll see there's little truth to that.
2)Williams didn't get a fair shot. Adelman played him 21+ mins per night in 2011, then close to 25 mins per night and 56 starts in 2012. Williams wasn't gifted the starting spot and 30+ mins per night, but it's hard to argue he hasn't been given a shot. Multiple shots actually to make an impression.
Williams is young though so we'll see how this goes.
