Starting SG spot will be Thornton or Jimmer?!?

I would really hate to cause Brick pain by pointing out that the Kings current lineup could conceivably be Tyreke, McLemore, Kawhi Leonard, Drummond, Cousins. That would be very unkind of me, and so I shall refrain.
We're better off with Jimmer, though. If we just played him we'd be in the playoffs.

If you consider Drummond might be the weakest .....................

Could have been Steph Curry, Paul George, Ryan Anderson, Cousins, Drummond. :)

Oh hindsight

I don't know if a better GM could have done better or not. T-Rob was consensus top 4, and as high as 2 in many mocks, it was considered a good pick that we had him at 5. Jimmer was just high risk/high reward picking from roll players on the board.

Front office was dead set on getting a point guard that year, if I remember right. It was either Jimmer, Knight or Kemba. Of those three, only Kemba has looked halfway decent.

May Knight rest in peace.

You wanted MT, you got him. He'll be traded or on the bench in no time. There is no chance in hell he is better than Jimmer Fredette.

Did you honestly wait this whole time so you could say that? I love shooters and that's what Jimmer is, which is fine. But that's all he is. He will never average 8 assists a game, average 2+ steals a game, out rebound his counterpart, or shut anyone down. The only thing he can do is shoot, which is what I want him to do when he is out there. I don't want either one of them starting to be frank. I want Ben to start.

That's a stretch. Our record each year would most likely be different by the addition of one of those players, so our draft position would be dfiferent.

MT should continue to start, I like the idea of bringing Ben along slowly. But as Ben gets experience hopefully he'll be starting by mid-season. I won't say he'll be a better or more productive player than MT by then, but talent needs minutes.

Then the question becomes is MT worth 5 million dollars more than Jimmer as a 15 mpg backup. (hint:no)

I don't think Jimmer is worth his option for next year, but I'd rather dump MT for an expiring and exercise Jimmer's 3 mil option then continue with MT backing Ben for 8.5 mil.

You are right. The booze must have gotten to my head. I forgot George and Cousins were in same class. In that case, Kawhi or Klay Thompson wouldn't be bad alternatives.
ha. yeah, makes me pretty sad thinking of what could have been with the last couple drafts. I'm a big Mclemore fan, but that stat line that Michael Carter Williams put up last night against MIA was mind bottling.

The sooner this team gets rid of Marcus Thornton, Salmons, and Outlaw, the better. Jimmer as well, but he's such a nice guy, using the words "getting rid" of sounds kinda cruel. But Jimmer really should go as well. Put that draft mistake behind us and move forward.

coach is about defense.. jimmer can't defend.. end of story
That's not completely true and I wish people would quit saying it.

Kevin Martin can't defend to save his life, and yet he's been in the league and had a successful career despite a lot of criticism on that very point.

Not being able to defend makes it much harder, but there are places where pure shooters can be beneficial. They just have to be surrounded with players able to pick up the slack.

Kevin Martin isn't severely undersized though. He's an adequate athlete as well.

Jimmer is a pretty poor man defender(although he has improved since his rookie year), but he is a high IQ player that has looked good playing team defense, he understands the game at a high level, that alone helps him (and Vasquez as well). I wonder how long Malone sticks with Thornton if he keeps looking lethargic. It's not just that he is playing poor, he looks disinterested, like he doesn't want to be here, interesting since this wasn't the case in the last few years where the team was just a bunch of guy playing jungle ball out there, now we have a sense of structure and he doesn't seem to like it.
