You're in charge...

Hearing a lot of disgruntled fans thorughout KF and the KingsNation. Of course the Kings are fading on the radar or otherwise considered in free fall. Not easy for any of us to bear. But if something constructive could be done don't you think it would have been considered by the management team? Ok, don't answer that. But riddle me this:

What exactly is the answer. If you're in charge what specific options do you think represent the best options. In very concise detail what do you suggest the Kings do w/ lineup or strategies at this point...

Why would you trade for a guy that's on his way to being 34 for a PG that still has some good years in him, and a young guy?

I'm sure glad you aren't running the team.

Because we get Delonte West, a young player with more potential than Garcia, and a lottery pick in the draft, which can translate to a young, big PF or C that can lead our youth movement with Martin and West. Add that with the Kings pick, and we can get another great young player. We get Ratliff who has a HUGE expiring after the 07/08 season.

Ratliff has proved to be a defensive presence and will provide the much needed interior presence.
The PG that you are talking about is over paid and can only play one end of the floor, even on that end he doesnt seem to be doing well this year and actually after the 2002 playoffs hasnt done squat to earn his paycheck. Sure he has hit some clutch three pointers here and there, but that was the case even with Steve Kerr in his playing days and he wasnt paid top dollar.

And in the end, the question from the thread initiator was what someone would do if they were to run the team, if you dont agree say what you would do and why do you have to get into personal attacks. We all know that we are not running the team and we dont have a chance to run any team in the near future, so whats your point.

because ratliff is an expiring contract, we get a 1st round pick, and a good young pg. actually i don't even think boston would go for this.

There are so many things that need to be done I don't know where to begin, but one thing I'd really like to see is a veteran assistant coach. Even Phil Jackson, Greg Popovich and Jerry Sloan have super-veteran coaches on their bench, guys who have been around basketball all their lives, who have seen it all, and are there for a stabilizing presence and to offer good advice. With a young coach with a credibility problem it's all the more egregious that there's not a real veteran on the bench.

(Sidebar:This note intended for posters prior to Nbrans who was posting as i was...)

Well i wasn't necessarily trying to delve into personnel moves given that that is another forum altogether. I was more interested in what could be done w/ the existing roster and of course any immediate reality based trade options that would figure into the floor time for the Kings to make them more competitive.

Again, reality does not provide many viable options (re: trades) at this point, does it? You gotta live for the most part w/ what you got. And if you've been around long enough isn't it cruel fate that GP figured on a roster that may not be competitive.

Anything within reason that can be realisticially done to make things improve. Details? Change starting lineup? Go w/ the youth? What do you think? Because we got a ways to go before the season closes...

That's a good little sidepoint -- we talked about it over the summer when the assistants were first announced, and it kind of got swept away in all the larger issues. But it still stands as a good point. Muss himself would have been lucky to be our #3 assistant back in the good ole days, and the rest of his staff would have been the guys getting doughnuts. I would absolutley love to see a wise old head sitting on that bench. Wonder what Chuck Daly is up to nowadays? Hell, Chuck is an old Penn guy (coached us to the Final Four in the late 70's) so you can't go wrong. ;)

i would blow it to smithereens. i'd trade Artest, Bibby, Miller, SAR, and KT for as many expirings and draft picks as we could get. i think those first 3 guys could pull some good players in. i'd draft as many big men as we could if we get some decent draft picks. i'd sign Chauncey Billups to a nice sized contract because he's the leader we wish we had. I'd also try to sign Anderson Varejao, and Darko. Darko's playing pretty well, and i would love to have someone that'll block 1.8 shots in 21 minutes a game. he's also only 21. and Sideshow Bob is a rebounding machine

PG: Billups/Price (who i'd resign)
SG: Martin/Garcia/Douby
SF: Salmons/Garcia
PF: Varejao/Oden(i hope)
C: Darko/Drafted Big Man

obviously there'd be more players in there. but to me, that's a pretty nice young team to develop. i think replacing Billups with Bibby will give us some new leadership. he also knows how to play defense
