Season Summary:
Sessions posted career lows in practically every statistical category. It’s hard to blame a team’s losing record, but Sessions made a good case for it. In 36 games, he had a positive differential 6 times. His brief tenure with Kings eclipsed Jason Hart level of production and into Oriene Greene level of no definable basketball skill. (Of course Oriene at least ran back on defense.)

As you can see, Sessions started bad, continued to be bad, and finished in the dumpster.

Player Comparison:
I compared Sessions to Ish Smith, not because I thought we should have gone after Smith but because he is was on three different teams this season, so was easily signed at any point. I thought it put how bad Sessions season was into perspective. For those not familiar with stats.nba.com, the higher the percentile the better.

The game where he had his highest point differential, he started for an injured Darren Collison and we didn’t lose. Tyreke had a great game but it wasn’t enough for New Orleans.

Cousins return game. This box score doesn’t show it, but Sessions posted an epic -20 in 22 minutes in a game we lost by one when Cousins shot clanked off. Even more impressive considering McLemore posted a +12 in 41:21. Those were some bad 6 minutes.

Luckily he has already been replaced by Andre Miller.

F. Even though it was regarded as a good pickup at the time, it turned into a complete disaster. In a league swamped with backup point guards, our GM managed to find one of the worst in the league. He should also be a cautionary tale for those wanting a team full of veterans how fast the wheels can fall off a guard. It’s shocking that he is only 28 and should be entering his prime right now instead of being one step out of the league.

Easily the worst player on the Kings last year. I'm bring serious. He had a negative impact on the Kings all around.

I'm not sure what happened to him. He was playing very well before he came here, but his career went to the garbage can as soon as he put on a jersey

I just have no explanation on how he went from being one of the better back up PG's to literally the worst PG I have seen getting quality playing time. I originally thought we got him as a bargain at the deal we got him at and I thought he would actually challenge DC for the starting role (even in Preseason he looked terrific slashing and making bullet passes). I'am sort of thankful in a way we got him since it lead us to getting Dre for 20 or so games.

To me it seems like Sess lost half a step going to the rim and along with that lost all his confidence. This is a move I don't really blame Pete on since everything prior to Sessions coming here indicated he would be productive and the price we payed for him was super cheap. We needed a spark plug who could get to the rim off the bench and that's what he filled for like 6 years prior.

Ah, the Trojan horse...If Kings had an adequate backup PG instead of a good one, who suddenly turned into pumpkin as the real games began, they would actually get a couple more wins to start the season.
When the best game includes shooting 4-13 from the field, you know, he was golden.

Slightly better statistically 7,4ppg on 40% shooting in 2 more mins of playing time. As far as impact I'm not really sure since I stopped Watching the Wizard until the playoffs after the trade was made.

U can't give the GM an F here. Not a soul anywhere predicted this level of fail coming. He was coming off a pretty good year. He turned into Miller at the halfway point and he's off our payroll.

As to the F, Sessions is a slashing PG when we desperately needed shooters. Also this league is awash in backup points; thats why I compared him to Ish Smith.

If the GM signs a guy and he sucks, then it's an F grade for both the player and the GM....it goes with the territory for a GM. Same with the draft pick of Stauskas. They brought him in because he was supposed to be NBA ready.....that was an epic miss.

Ok an F is deserved for signing Carl Landry. Overpaying for a player that can't contribute is an F... While sessions didn't contribute, no one saw that coming. And his salary was dirt cheap and as we saw easily movable (WHICH NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED IN THE GRADE). It was a potentially rewarding , low risk move.

You don't give GM's an F grade for making low risk rewarding moves. You give GM's an F grade for signing people like Carl Landry or Jason Thompson to multi year deals.

An A would be like discovering a gem / serious impact player. Honestly I'd give Pete a C for signing sessions. I'd give sessions an F grade as a player....

It's a C for Pete because we only had so much money to spend on a back up PG#1......... #2 we had Ray Mac on the team and he was gonna need time at some point so we could see where he stands. #3 Who we signed as a back up PG wasn't gonna be the difference between playoffs or lottery.... Again it was dirt cheap. We had every reason to believe that it would've been rewarding.. And it was seriously low risk plus an extremely movable contract.

I remember when we were all pretty much unanimously giving Pete an A for the Sessions signing going into the season.

I can't really fault Pete on this one. It was a good deal for (at the time) a solid player. Not his fault Sessions turned to doodoo.
