Ok I tagged/quoted you because in a way your the level headed voice of reason. This whole thread reminds me of how people think their having a bad day because they over slept their alarm, spilled their coffee, got a traffic ticket, etc. Meanwhile in Syria and Iraq people are being blown up, shot, and beheaded. When you put things into perspective all a sudden your day doesn't look so bad.
I do realize I'm of a generation that looks at collecting "pins" as pretty un cool, weird and old fashioned. BUT .... I do get that people get used to certain things and change is hard for all of us. Your used to something happening, you have expectations, then it doesn't happen. Its a bummer...
HOWEVER... lol! Its pretty nice having a team in Sacramento isn't it? LOL! jeez guys of all the things to be complaining about. Give the new owners and management a break! Im sure it wasn't malicious... Im i little bummed anyone would feel the need to write a scathing letter about this... When just writing a heartfelt suggestion is clearly the better route. The new owners should be free to start their own new traditions. From what I saw they for the most part DID realize that these "pins" were important and did make an effort to keep it going. Just not on the scale or in the fashion you were used to.
Everything gonna be ok guys. Just be nice about it and don't let this upset you. At least theres a KINGS team still here.
Pardon me but just who the hell are you and where did you come from, and come to think of it, why?
VF21, I apologize to you on behalf of the poster above.
I am a season ticket holder and did not attend opening night and wondered why I got a pin for this year in the mail (along with credit card thing to wear around my neck to allow me to get in the game conviently without a ticket).
I absolutely agree with your reaction, VF21, and applaud you for messaging Granger.
My beefs are not limited to the break in the pin tradition(and I am not a pin collector though I never throw anything away and probably have the 15 or so opening night pins I have received at the door in my 30 years of season ticket hood). Some of my others are:
Game programs: single sheet fold over what they call programs. Ty are useless for the purposes I used them for for all the 25 years or so that they existed. This change was a poor choice made by the Maloof regime and carried on and worsened by the Ranadive regime. They can cut out the half-time stst sheet and give me the old program.
On line roster from Kings web site: give me back the format they had until the last yer or two. A list of players and columns showing jersey number, position, heighth, weight, date of birth, years in the league, and college or country of origin in one single page. I suspect this was dictated by the league but Ranadive should overcome.
Plastic cards and related computer ap instead of tickets: there might have some conveniences and efficiencies involved but they are overwhelmed by the mass and varieties of inconveniences.
The computer system to manage your season tickets: Again, some conveniences an d efficiencies hidden by a greater mass of inconveniences compounded for those like me whose eyesight isn't what it was during my first 75 good years.
The assumption that everyone has computers both stationary and mobile and that the have the Internet and printers and the knowledge, aptitude and interest to use them. It's one thing to acknowledge the prevalence, the usefulness, and the popularity of the mobile computer but it is totally a different thing to assume that all your hoped for customers are willing and able to go wyth on this.
I'm sure if I had anther 15 minutes as well as the patience to do so I could come up with equally cogent thoughts but out of sympathy for anyone who read through ths whatever, I now retire, sigh.
