you couldn't pay me to watch this series. i ABSOLUTLY refuse to give the NBA ratings for the finals when mark cuban's team is a part of it.

i flat out can not stand him or his team, so eff em. no way in hell i watch. NO WAY IN HELL.

even though shaq is a blathering fool, he at least can back up his trash talk. marky mark can't ( and hopefully won't)

i hope the heat kick some major *** at home.

Doesn't look like Shaq can back up much of anything anymore...except maybe a truck to the Krispy Kreme store.;)

Shaq's FT% this series...12.5%!:p

In the game of basketball, with a hoop suspended 9 feet off the floor, size will ALWAYS matter. Its the geometry of the game.

Have I been mistaken all these years in thinking a hoop is 10 feet high?

And you're right about size mattering. The most important part of Dallas' game is Dirk's size...combined with his unique abilities, no defender in the game can truly stop him (although this was more evident in the Spurs' and Suns' series than it has been to this point in the Finals).

I agree about Shaq falling off. Sure the Mavs have been running a great defensive scheme against him, but 2001 Shaq would never allow this to happen. You gotta wonder if Wade will want to stick around Miami in a couple years when his deal runs out and he's on a team stuck with aging veterans and no cap space.

You are all wrong. Shaq is angry, and he will dominate games 3 & 4. Count on it. You have to be blind, not paying attentioned, or simply biased against Shaq to deny his talent. I would be shocked if the series wasn't 2-2 quickly. I'm not saying Miami is done, but don't count out Miami. They're in a bad spot, yeah, but they are very very far from done.

I thought he was supposed to be angry after game 1??
How angry does he have to get before he "dominates"??

He should be really angry now...10k fine from the league and another 25k tacked on by the Heat, for refusing to do the mandatory after game interviews. (Not that 35k means anything to him.) He sure did a lot of talking last week...

id rather live with a year of hearing how dominant shaq is than dirk and terry....

well, the thing is, the mavs are not a one-season-stand. they have young and talented players and now they have experience. as long as dirk does not injure himself, we are in for a few years of mavs' dominance (at least, they will be one of the few teams contending for a title year in, year out).

oh come on. 10k is nothing to him, and he'll probably even make some gesture to donate another 10k to charity to show that he doesn't care about the fine. But you should know that Shaq is still very good (if you forgot already, they took out the Detroit Pistons on the way to the NBA finals) and can still play at an extraodinarily high level. Of all people and all wierd sports grudges in sports, I will never ever understand Lakers fans that do not appreciate Shaq. I'm sorry, but you got 3 rings with the man, give him some love.

Nice win at home but I would not start passing out the rings just yet. If the Heat take care of buisness on their home court then all they have to do is steal one of the games back in Texas.

After Game 2, it seems as if Miami's best hope is to get Dirk, Howard, Terry and Stackhouse to go out late in South Beach on Monday night...

I've known for years now Shaq is far more entertaining with the mute button pressed.

I like to go the extra mile and blindfold myself as well though.

i just love basketball, that's why i watch the NBA finals. but in this case where the kings aren't playing, i always root for the under dogs which for me are the Mavs even though they have the homecourt advantage. Heat just have too much star power with Shaq and Wade, plus they are the favorite to win it all. i like the Mavs to win because they're playing a different kind of game unlike the traditional "teams should have strong post presence and good pointguard etc..see Spurs,Detroit, old Lakers." And i just love Dirk doing his fadeways. But, i kind of like to Heat win as well just to let Shaq show Kobe that he can still win a championship.

all in all, it's just basketball that i love to watch! can't wait for King's turn.

I, too, would like Shaq to win something before Kobe, but I'd be even happier if neither won anything ever again.

Go Mavs*! I've enjoyed watching them play.

GO KINGS!

god please no. the image of avery/dirk and terry holding a trophy makes me nautious.

Just imagine Cuban holding that trophy. And footage of Cuban at the Mavs' victory parade. And Cuban pulling the rope to raise the banner. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I could be wrong (Gods know I have been all season long) But it's at times like this, when closing out finals or comming back, that experience really matters the most, and while the Heat may not have experience as a team Shack and Riely do.

Well, I guess that would be disgusting but I still remember Mark Madsen rapping. :(

As I said..the amount of money is nothing to him.

Anyone who knows me and as I've mentioned numerous times before..I have never liked Shaq...ever; not when he was with Orlando, not as a Laker and especially now in Miami. Yes, I am happy that he was on my team while in his prime..very happy, but I have never, ever, ever liked the man. He is, always was, and will always be IMHO a grade A a-hole.

As opposed to... Kobe?

Has Kobe bad-mouthed your city or your team??

Has he bad-mouthed his own fanbase and the city he plays in??

Has he been a jerk to his boss..calling him an MFer??

Did he ever make the comment, after partying all off-season and having surgery the week the season starts, that he "got hurt on company time so he'll rehab on company time"??

Does he gain weight every off-season and then try to "work his way into shape" during the season??

Does he complain after a loss and blame everyone but himself??

Does he skip out on the after game interviews??
Want me to continue??....

Kobe gets big a-hole points for cheating on his wife, no doubt, but as far as his dedication and professional approach to the game..I've got no complaints.

^^^ Mad Dog rapping?? I know he attempted to dance and spoke to the crowd in Spanish...but rapping??

I think you're right - maybe it's foggy memory (i've attempted to block out many things from that time) but I could have sworn that I heard them talking about it on PTI. My bad.

Still, his dancing was traumatic in it's own way.

and yeah, I don't think I can quite hate Kobe as much as Shaq...or even as much as Rick Fox.
