Wizards @ Kings Game Thread

K-Mart had a great game it's unfortunate it had to be overshadowed because we had to keep pace of the Wizards favorable tempo. i just hate to see the Kings like this i expected some up's & down's but this is becoming more of a down situation rather then up.

... Brad Miller being back may not be the reason for our tailspin, but I think it certainly helped. We aren't beating the teams we beat without him anymore...
What teams would you be referring to? We were 7-7 without Miller in the lineup, and only one of those wins came against a winning team. You think we beat Utah without Miller?

Rudderless would imply our biggest problem isn't that we aren't sinking faster than the Titanic.

At least if we were sinking we'd be going in one direction.Right now I think "rudderless" is actually a pretty good term...

And, I may be alone in this, I think Artest just did an Artest-like thing tonight. I think he chose NOT to play, not because of his knees ... but simply because he didn't want to. I'm actually scared.

I don't know if "scared" is the word I'd use, but I'm certainly a little concerned. Sore knees 20 minutes before the game when he had talked just a bit earlier with the TNT crew about how to stop Arenas? SOMETHING happened...

Then to add onto my fear - I'm not sure who saw it, but SAR and Miller were jawing something serious. Then Miller looked like he was refusing to pass to SAR. SAR didn't give Miller the standard free throw clap or anything when Miller went to the line - instead he looked away. I didn't read that as a good sign.

Was this before or after SAR lost it and got T'd up?

Add to this - KT looked overly unimpressed while sitting on the bench.

At this risk of sounding like I'm bashing - which I'm really not - how could you tell the difference?

True...something is definitely not right.

What world were we 7-7 without Miller?

5-3 by my count. Not great, but certainly better than the 3-10 since his return. Regardless of competition.

KT/SAR is a better combination that any of our forwards. KT rebounds. SAR scores inside. We've got no one else that does these things at the forward slots. It ain't perfect, and it ain't pretty, but it's better than we are now.

Our biggest problem since Miller's return is what I feared - we've got 4 guys vying for limited minutes. No one is getting in a real rhytm and I think guys are getting frustrated. Yanked when they play well, benched indefinitely for a few poor plays. It's not good coaching.

I don't like Miller in the game because we've got no inside game when he's out there. None.

You think we beat Utah without Miller?

Yes. I think we've got a chance. I think we proved it when we went into the 4th quarter against them up by 17 or whatever it was. We lost out, but we showed we can compete.

Yeah, probably.

Something as in - he actually got hurt?
Or something as in - he might be traded?
Or something as in - he just got angry and pulled an Artest?

Was this before or after SAR lost it and got T'd up?

Before. I think it's the thing that really set SAR's anger meter out of whack. He was playing angry and was swinging wildly. I kept thinking coach ... call TO and sit him for a second.

At this risk of sounding like I'm bashing - which I'm really not - how could you tell the difference?

Heh. One doesn't have to be a mindreader to know KT wasn't digging only playing 19 minutes.

What could've happen? he got pissed off? he's close to being traded? i'm sure there is alot to speculate on him.

Oh good grief. If Artest were close to being traded - which he's not - the TEAM would hold him out of the game. He wouldn't go to the coach 20 minutes before game time and claim "sore knees." The only real point of speculation at this point is whether or not Ron is actually starting to follow the same pattern as in Indiana, but without the brawl.

Artest doesn't like to lose. Artest wants to be a first or - at the least - second option on offense. At this point, we all better be hoping he hasn't decided to go on the road to promote his latest CD.

VF21 your right thats a MAJOR concern lets just hope something personal happened that made him not suit up. we don't need anymore distractions.

Oh good grief.

Okay, Charlie Brown.

Unless that was a cover by the team?

Or is that too much wishful thinking on my part? Don't get me wrong, I love when Artest plays ... but I'm waiting every day for the other shoe to drop and we read about Mike Bibby's body washing up on the beach with the words "PLAY DEFENSE" scrawled into his flesh. Artest isn't quite right up there sometimes.

My mistake, I was counting starts.

5-3 by my count. Not great, but certainly better than the 3-10 since his return. Regardless of competition.
Regardless of competition my ***... overlook the strength of schedule if you want to, but it's been murder since he's been back: 3 out of 8 games against +.500 teams while he was out (1-2 in those games) versus 8 out of 13 games against +.500 teams since (1-7 in those games), plus three and-a-half sets of back-to-backs.

We fattened up against ***** teams at home, and then we started to play tough teams and couldn't win, and now it's Miller's fault? That's the same sort of illusion that led people to think that this team was actually doing something during the first fifty games of 03-04.

Yes. I think we've got a chance. I think we proved it when we went into the 4th quarter against them up by 17 or whatever it was. We lost out, but we showed we can compete.
What you see as us having a chance I see as us utterly choking what should have been an insurmountable lead, none of which was done with Miller on the floor... We didn't show that we could compete, all we showed was that we can't hold a lead.

It would be a big slap if Ron decided to give up on this team, when he came here he gave alot of praise and he showed motivation to sign here after he becomes a FA. it will be a total blow-up if he's gonna move to the same pattern as he did with Indiana.

Boy things are getting ugly pretty fast.

Roman - I don't think it was a cover by the team, since both Sager and Doug Collins made comments about how upset Musselman was to find out only 20 minutes before game time that Artest wouldn't be playing. Since they were all sitting in Arco at the time, I'm pretty sure whatever was said between Artest and Musselman may well have been said within sight of Collins, Sager or someone else associated with TNT...

It's incredibly bizarre but, as my Pacer fan friends would say, "It's not unusual..."

Well, in all honesty, the only things getting ugly pretty fast are the conclusions some of us - and I have to include myself in that group - are jumping to. We don't know for sure what happened. Not that that fact alone will stop us from speculating, but I think we need to remember this is just idle speculation and nothing more at this point.

If something did go on, I'm pretty sure one of the myriad of Bee reporters in attendance last night will find a way to put it out there in the least favorable light.

;)

Oh, not me. My main gripe, as I mention below, is the lineup and rotations. These weird rotations started once Miller came back. It's like the coach feels this need to get everyone in ... like Pee-Wee League.

That you see as us having a chance I see as us utterly choking what should have been an insurmountable lead, none of which was done with Miller on the floor... We didn't show that we could compete, all we showed was that we can't hold a lead.

Come on. That's silly.

Lots of teams get cocky and loose HUGE leads. Especially teams that are out of sync and still looking for an identity.

I don't blame Miller. I don't think he's the key problem to our equation. It's not his "return" that I blame the losses on (although I don't see him helping). I don't like his style of play with our current team. I don't see it as a benefit to have a center that shoots 20 footers ... especially since most teams don't really cover it except in response to a really hot start or just with token coverage. It seems to have the opposite effect than it should - from what I've seen it creates poor spacing and virtually eliminates our post game. I don't see the benefit of having another softie shooting jumpers with zero post game. I don't see that as a good thing, but I still don't think that's the reason for our spiral.

I blame most of it on the coach. He's making poor decisions and splitting time between 4 guys at two spots ... there's no reason for this. Especially since two of the guys could play at SF as well. There's no reason KT/SAR aren't spending time at the SF spot at times. The coach is giving mixed signals and there's no consistancy.

I just heard Ron is not playing tommorrow also. Yikes!

I'm actually less worried if that's the truth, because then perhaps his knees are bothering him. But, you mention it's from REALGM ... is it a cited source or just someone talking about his cousin's, uncle's, friend's, dog's owner who heard it from a guy who knows this girl who works closely with one of the receptionists at Arco?

RealGM, in and of itself, is NOT a source. A post by someone named SacKing777 isn't a source. That's just an anonymous poster on a different message board.

We generally don't quote other message boards, especially on stuff like this, because there's very little chance they have any actual information. Most times, it's just someone making a guess and acting like they know it's a fact.
