Will The Arco Thunder Return?

So the sportscenter preview said they were gonna talk about the NBA rookie sensation who's doing things not even Kobe Lebron or Wade has done. They gotta be talking about Evans, right?

They're probably talking about rookie sensation Taylor Griffin, who has in fact done things that Kobe, LeBron, and Wade have never done. (Thing 1: Be taken sometime after his brother in the same draft. Thing 2: Get sent to the D-League.)

I don't know how much thunder there will be when 1/2 the fans are passed out drunk after downing all those cheap beers.
I'm guessing those dollar beers won't be a normal size of beer (at least I hope not). I'm imagining that commercial where that guy is sitting with a miniature sized meal in front of him, that he bought for a "good price."

i went to the box office this morning to try and get some $10 tickets, but the cheapest ones they had left were $75 in the lower section. thats what i get for waiting til the last friggin minute i guess. i also heard that it's gonna be 12oz. cups of either bud light and miller lite.

12oz beers, and it's prbly either bud lite or coors lite. Seriously, if you can't stay relatively sober after 6-8 of those during a game then you are a lightweight. The alc by weight is like 3.5% or something poor like that. ABV is probably pushing 5% if you're lucky. If my taste buds were unrefined enough for me to enjoy that kind of beer, it would probably take me about 4 in less than an hours time to start a buzz, and I'm not a big guy at 6'2" 195. Over a basketball game? Maybe a 12er, which would seriously impair enjoyment of the game with the frequent restroom visits.......

Yeah, watching it on TV it sounded deathly quiet. People appeared to be sitting on their hands and thinking of the saddest thoughts they could conjure up. But then the 4th quarter rolled around and I started to HEAR something. I agree...I think tonight was a continuation of the beginning of something very very good.

"It was so loud I couldn't hear myself scream," Casspi said. "The crowd was fantastic." - NBA.com
And yet, like others have said, this was nothing compared to how it was about 3-10 years ago (for those of you newer to this team/arena). What you heard in spurts tonight was pretty much the norm for about 2/3 of the entire game. Awesome to behold. But like VF21 has said, it feels like it might be starting to come back.

And for those who don't know:

ARCO Arena set a Guinness World Record for loudest sports roar by reaching over 130 decibels on November 8, 2006 during a Kings game against the Detroit Pistons.

I had a great time at the game last night, but I have to be honest here. The announced attendance was 16,659 or something like that. I understand A LOT of people stood inline almost the entire first have getting $1 beers, but after half time that excuse goes out the window. There were A LOT of empty seats, I mean A LOT, and definitely more than 1,000. People who did bought tickets did not attend, or something else was going on.

And, as others have said I agree; it was rockin but not like back in the early to mid part of this decade.

I hope for the sake of the young guys, the real Arco Thunder comes back on a regular basis. I think they'd really respond to the way the crowds used to be. Then they'll be saying - 'It was so loud I couldn't hear myself think!'

Those people were still in line, this time for the restrooms...;)

Part of the problem was with the differences in coverage. On CSN, the crowd noise was much more obvious than it was on ESPN (I mean, Naismith forbid they allow the sound of enthusiastic fans to cover up some JVG pearl of wisdom...)

We still haven’t reached Arco Thunder status yet, but it’s getting there. I can’t wait till these guys experience our Thunder because it’s just amazing and indescribable.
