Why No Signing?

Can somebody explain to me why we are geared up for next years FA market?? who will be out there that we need?

I don't think we were geared up for this market or next years. We may make a picku[ but I don't think it will be anyone major. If we do use our cap space I thhink it will likely be in a trade.

Carmelo Anthony

What is this rampant obsession with Carmelo Anthony. In what way does he actually make our team better? I know having a "Big 3" is the in thing now but how the hell are there going to be enough shots for Cousins, Reke, and Carmelo plus a random assortment of teammates. And why would we risk not being able to resign out stars just for the sake of acquiring a super-scorer who seems to be getting fatter by the minute?

We would have their bird rights wouldn't we? That wouldn't change with a new CBA would it? And I can't imagine the same 120 million max contracts we see today in the future.

At the same time, we're also looking at a hard cap of around 50 mil, which makes it incredibly hard to keep all three of them and build an actual team around them.

You win the inevitable Let's Sign Carmelo Thread that will pop up in eighty different variations over the next year. Not bad man, won every one of those threads a year in advance.

There was hardly any FA that fit the niche the team needed. The team would not benefit greatly from just any FA signing. It would be wasted cap space. If you see a move, expect it to come near the trade deadline if the team is anywhere near the playoffs or if an offer comes cheap. Maloofs said they are looking to pick up a bargain and mentioned the trade advantages of cap space. I think that is the line of thinking they are using right now. Team could use a vet leader in the locker. Otherwise, it just needs time to develop.

you know, just watching Wall v. Dallas here, and KI like what I ma seeing out of Harvard's Jeremy Lin more than anything any of our three invites have shown thus far.

I liked Lafayette on Boston's squad, and Lucas had a nice showing for Chicago. I've liked more guards on other squads than any game I've seen from the Kings. The Kings SL guards have been extremely ordinary.

Another guy is not even getting played. Right now M. Torrance is rotting away on the Heats SL squad, not getting play time. I get the feeling he would look nice if given a run. Unfortunately, the Heat have like 20 guys on their roster.

Jeremy Lin vs. John Wall. Beast. This highlight video is well worth watching.

Isn't a Lin when you win a game you wanted to lose, or is that a Woss? I can never remember which way it goes. :p

Please tell me there's a player named Woss, because that would be awesome.

Wow. I watched Lin a little bit in college, liked his game. I didnt think he was a strong NBA prospect. I stand corrected. Lin can obviously play with the big boys. Too bad Dallas is gauranteed to snatch him up.

Count me in on the McCants aquisition. I liked his time here and it would another tough guy coming off the bench.

Gotta agree with Lin. So far I'm surprised the Kings SL team has won as much as we have with those stupid ball-hogging good for nothing excuses for PGs we have on that team.

not necessarily, dallas already has 3 point guards (kidd, berroa, and beaurbois) guarenteed contracts.... a 4th point guard in lin may be too many, even for dallas....

if lin gets an offer from a team that actually may have playing time for him, he would be better off taking a kings offer than sitting behind 3 pg on dallas bench....

the better question is, since sloan got a guaranteed contract, are the kings willing to eat the contract and sign another player to backup point, or are we locked into sloan, even though he is not a point guard....

Sloan's contract isn't guaranteed. I would invite Lin to training camp if the opportunity were available. He seems like a pretty good change of pace guy, and I'm a softie for the smart dudes.
