Why can't the Kings get plays like these? (split)

I don't think it's worth starting another thread to ask this, but I'm open to the possibility:
Can anyone explain why Demarcus can't get easy dunks like this?
Dwight Howard JUST came back and is nursing his knee. I refuse to believe he's more capable around the rim than DMC right now - so how come defenses cover Josh Smith on the pick-and-roll, leaving Howard to rumble to the hoop? (one lob, one bounce pass)
Why couldn't Tyreke have used these plays for 3 years with Demarcus?
Why can't ANY player the Kings have had the past FIVE years do these plays?
I almost never see Demarcus get easy-fed baskets like these - it's once-in-a-bluemoon stuff.

I'm wondering what magic ability(s) other teams (coaches, plays) have that explains why these kinds of plays aren't a staple for the Kings?
The Kings' pick-and-roll offense has been anemic for going on 10 years now.
Why can't they get a ballhandler that can cause the defenses to free up Demarcus for the roll?
Is Demarcus just incapable of rolling to the hoop?

I split this into its own thread because I think continuing to use the game thread for non-game discussions could easily lead to people missing the change in topic. :)

I really think it comes down to coaching, in our particular case. Sure we scored a lot most seasons, but it was hardly what you call efficient. We have had such a circus with coaching we never got any real consistency on the offensive end, nor did we have any real coaches after Adelman, until recently. I think it will be a little easier for Cousins next season because Karl will have the time to implement sets that will put Cousins in a better position to score, and score with more efficiency. Cousins isn't Dwight or AD, he's not built for the up-top lobs consistently, but we can certainly give him better and easier looks. Perhaps we can have offensive sets that when a team is switching on defense, we call a play that will almost certainly give Cousins a mismatch that he can take advantage of. Cousins scores over 24 a game. Even a little assistance from Karl would be huge.

Another key note. The lob play with Dwight... it's Dwight and Josh Smith. Besides Rudy, we don't have anyone else that would command a switch, so everyone just stays on Cousins.

Well one reason is because teams are terrified of DeMarcus Cousins, but they aren't of Dwight Howard. There are few times when two guys aren't watching him anymore, and such plays are more likely to result in an open look for the teammate than for Boogie.

We need more outside threats period. Until we got some players that can hit an outside shot with great consistency, teams are going to double and triple team Cousins, even without the ball. Every team in the league knows if you stop Cousins, you stop the Kings.

Well, Dwight Howard really isn't the focus of a team's defense anymore so these sorts of plays aren't that unexpected and his team also features James Harden, a guy who thrives on the drive and flop game and thus draws the majority of the other team's attention.

Meanwhile, Boogie is consistently double teamed, sometimes triple-teamed and is pretty much the focus of the other team's gameplan. Other teams have to plan for Boogie's offense whereas with Dwight, teams have had to worry about his defense and don't need to do much to him on the other end as he (a) still can't shoot, (b) isn't as physically strong as he used to be, and (b) has the natural post skills of a wheelbarrow.

I distinctly remember him being set up for an easy layup as recently as last game. so yeah, going to come with familiarity I suppose. also what everybody else said about it being difficult to run such plays if the opposing defence has stopping boogie as its' top priority.
