Why bring Sim up if he's not gonna play?

Which is fine but why bring him up and advertise when he isn't ready?

Vivek can't ask Karl if Sim's gonna play or not days before the game. Karl doesn't know if Sim's gonna get minutes before the game. Sim's a benchwarmer. That's what a callup is. And benchwarmers may get garbage minutes or minutes due to injury. Vivek's all about branding. He's not gonna wait for Sim to get a minute before launching "Sim Bhullar night with bobblehead." There's only so many games left. You talk like it's your first day here.

Vivek's going to keep up with gimmicks and marketing, because that's what 3.0 is about. Karl's gonna keep busy with, you know, trying to build a team.

You talk like the two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. That is not the path to a quality product of business.

Seriously, he's 6 inches taller and Cousins... annnd on top of all that, he's Indian!

Who needs triple doubles?? Get this large person in the game!

I'd hate us to jeopardize our playoff hopes. It's not about playing to win especially when we are losing down the stretch.

...You think I don't know that? Go talk to Vivek. I doubt anyone here thinks that what Vivek's done in the marketing dept could be considered good. He's got no grace or tact, just hamfisting everything around. Of course he's gonna take the last bit of time left in the season to plug his boy Sim.

Besides the option that just happened, you have two others if you're the Kings.

1. Karl can pre-agree to give Sim minutes, which means that he's catering to marketing and not winning basketball. He's also disrespecting the players that deserve the minutes and the game of basketball as a whole. As one of the winningest coaches inb asketball, that should crush his bball soul. It's not pro wrestling. You can't guarantee a chair to the face or a "surprise" appearance by your favorite wrestler/player. I hope you're not advocating this.

2. Vivek can stop being a bucket of crap and forcing the issue. He could let basketball people run the team, let marketing people appropriately market the team, and trust that with wins comes publicity. With wins comes personality. With wins comes storylines that come organically. The best thing that happened marketing wise was DMC's ascension (skill) and the Sauce Castillo nickname (random luck). Both of which he had NOTHING to do with. In DMC's case, he was actually hurting that marketing.

What do you want? Again, it's a very simple thing here.

So you want Karl to pre-approve Sim a set amt of minutes in order to let Vivek properly market to his ethnic background, regardless of basketball strategy. Got it.
No, I think he shouldn't have been brought up. Or if he wasn't gonna play don't market the crap out of it.

And the day that happens is the day I want the coach fired. You play to win if Sim wasn't Indian he wouldn't be on the roster.

There's no reason he SHOULDN'T be getting minutes here at the end of the season. Find out if the guy can hang here, or if he needs another season in the d-league. We know what D-will, JT, Reggie and Landry can all do. Let's see what Sim has.

Sim is practicing with the team. Karl is watching him. If he's doing well in practice and Karl thinks he's ready, he would put him in. If Sim still needs time to figure out where he needs to be in sets then theres no reason he should be out there, regardless of the situation. Maybe we haven't seen what Sim has, but Karl is seeing it everyday.

We know whose decision it was to call up Sim. We know whose decision it was to not play Sim. And I know who I place my faith in at this point.

Stop being so dramatic, it's not like we are chasing a playoff spot (actually the other way around). I don't see why you don't play him, and YES not only to see if he can fit an NBA team but also for financial/marketing reasons, I'm fine with off the court agendas as long as they doesn't hurt the team- and I don't see how does that hurt our team.
Let me tell you a little secret a certain guy named Stockton wouldn't have get a 10 day if he weren't John's kid, and long term Sim has more upside than most of the guys we gave 10 day contracts to.

Stop acting like Vivek is ruining the "purity" of our team by bringing in Sim, worse things have been done for marketing reasons- like the KG trade and Kobe's inflated contract.

And this is all fine if we were competing for a playoff spot or something. I'm not saying bench Cuz the rest of the season and start Sim for 30 minutes a game. I'm saying there's a very easy way to get him 10 minutes a game going forward as we already have a good idea of what the other bigs on the team can do. We don't know what Sim can do and if he shows well, we can go into the off-season with one hole plugged.

If Moreland were healthy, I'd be advocating the same exact thing for him.

Sim will be treated like any other player who is brought up from the d-league. If the coach thinks there is a time when he can be used on the court, he will be.

IT WAS ONE GAME! Some of you are acting like his chance is now over. It's not. I honestly think we may see him on Sunday. If not, he's still the first player of Indian descent to be on an NBA roster whether he actually steps on the court or not.

Read Vlade's comments about Sim in the interview I posted yesterday.

I would have much rather let Sim finish in reno and play summer league. Then bring him back at the beginning of next year if he is ready. And preferably without all the hoopla.
If you are going to market to India and are demanding ASAP...you bring Sim in let him practice with the team until he is comfortable and market for a game where the coach feels as though he has a good chance of getting in. You don't tell the coach but u make sure the players development is where the coach is comfortable.

But the franchise is treating him different with all the marketing. That's what I'm trying to say. And it is unfair to sim and coach.

I think you're putting how you would feel onto Sim. I don't think Sim feels that way. They showed him at practice and he was having a helluva good time. He's getting a taste of a real NBA experience.

David Stockton was brought up as security because we were awfully thin at the point. I'm reasonably sure they didn't all of a sudden bring him up because they hadn't realized until that day that he was John's son.

Sim MAY have more upside, but only if he gets into NBA shape. He's not there yet.

Sim had barely been signed, had only one practice. What makes him ready for minutes?
He's on a 10 day contract. If he's showing in practice that he can handle NBA speed, then he'll probably get some minutes.
You don't call someone up with the guarantee that they play. For all we know, he's just an extra body in practice.

Victims don't always know they are victims.

I would say nothing, which you don't market him as the next jordan.
Is there a poster of him in the airport that says "Sim City"?
I haven't seen anything resembling what you would call a marketing craze. You might be looking for something that just isn't there.

Sauce night? Now THAT'S a marketing craze (and a good one at that).
