Why aren't we near as good at Home anymore?

Carmichael Dave brought up a tweet after the game yesterday that was interesting. These were his exact words.

"The Sacramento Kings homecourt advantage used to be the envy of all of basketball. Even in the down years, they were always a tough out at home. That advantage is completely non-existent pretty much since G1C opened. It sure as hell ain’t the fans, but something is weird."

He later went on to mention that the Kings have won only 3 more Home Games that road games over the last 3 years. That seems unacceptable. I remember the days when we use to be so glad the team had a home stretch coming up, as we knew we would get some wins. What the heck do you guys think is going on?? Is it the building itself? is it the lack of screaming supporting fans in the building? or are we just that bad of a team?

It really is hard to nail down. As much as I love the beam, and I am in no way advocating for getting rid of it, I’d imagine it does provide a little extra motivation to opposing teams. Who knows?

I think the NBA needs to work on the in game experience. Take some cues from soccer or football. More chants, maybe an anthem? The loudest moment of the in arena experience should not be the crowd trying to induce a missed free throw for a free sandwich. A lot of quiet moments in nba games these days

Good comments everyone. I'm actually excited now every time the Kings go on the road, since playing at home doesn't make a difference anymore. Hopefully we will have lots of stretches of away games this year. I wish we could just play on the road all the time.

I'm not sure what's changed, but I'm thinking that it's causing more people to lose interest in the sport. I mean, what's the point of supporting your home team if they aren't even going to try harder in front of your fans that pay $$$$ to see you? I know so people that use to be Kings fans that don't even seem to care anymore, and part of that is because the team just doesn't seem to care when playing in front of their home crowd.
It's a vicious circle though, because that causes fans to not show up at the games which makes it even less likely for the team to get fired up in front of their home crowd. So many fans or ex fans just don't even want to get expensive season tickets or even expensive game tickets anymore for that reason. It's like the teams doesn't even care that they are playing in front of their home crowd and so they aren't putting that extra effort in to get more wins. I mean, If they don't care, why should we care? That's alot of the reason I don't even bother going to games anymore. I use to go to games alot prior to 2021, but not anymore.

Just because they aren’t making shots does not mean they don’t care. As far as your friend Kings fans bailing on the team…if they can’t handle this season they would have quit long ago

My friend didn't bail on the team, just bailed on attending games. Also, I'm not talking about this last game, I'm talking about in general. Their home record use to be more superior to their road record. It's fine if it's just a few games, but we aren't talking about a few games here. We are talking about ever since Golden One was built. I had season tickets for 3 years prior to Golden One being built and it was an absolute blast at those games, even when the team wasn't as good. There would be so many games when the team was down and out and the crowd would come alive and then Kings would go on a tear and that would fire up the crowd even more, and more times then now, we ended up with a Win. When they were great on the road, that was an extra bonus, especially because you knew they would be coming back home soon, but now it's like you can't even look forward to them coming home.

There is just something missing at Golden One that I just can't put my finger on. I don't know, maybe it is the fans and the fact that the fans aren't getting as crazy as they use to, and it is de-motivating to the team.
