again, simple sarcasm flies over your head. Thanks for the info on checking other posts, I didn't know the existed. Wait, so you're saying there is a whole thread dedicated to Garcia?
Oh I missed the sarcasm about Garcia being a good defender? I didnt know I had to comment on all the sarcasm you use.

It seems you dont think you are setting unrealistic goals so tell me what a better title for you would be.
It is not unrealistic to assume that he can keep ketchup off of his shirt or his beer upright for the '05-'06 season. I'll grant that it is a tall order, but you've got to shoot for the stars.

. My goal as a fan of the Kings, is for them to win the championship this year, and every year to come. Is it unrealistic, of course, but who cares.
Here I am stating that my goal is unrealistic.

How did this cloud anything? .
The comment about you clouding it up was due to the run on sentences. It is hard to sometimes understand your points, thats all.

Thats true and thats what Im trying to say. My goal is to win a championship. That is my main goal and probably a longterm goal untill roster changes are made but for next year I think there are more important things to focus on before winning a championship, like building a championship team that plays defense.

The beer upright is unrealistic. It will never happen.

You are trying to say that I can go a whole season without spilling a beer???After all this bickering you've turned full circle and said your goal is to win a championship. That's what I've been saying, and you've told me I am unrealistic, which I admitted to being. How can you say that is your goal after all posts you have just put up???

My goal is to watch as much Kings basketball that I can, while grilling up dogs and burgers and throwing back a few brews. I'm fairly certain that I'll have no problem doing this.

Also, it saves me a lot of headaches. The Kings will never be a defensive team as long as Miller and Bibby (both of which would have a hard time defending a YMCA girls team) are here, so I'm just going to hope for good-to-watch basketball and an even better beer buzz.

Dude, you admitted it yourself. But then again, I'm not the one that is harping on unrealistic goals.

BTW, if I have to read the word unrealistic one more time, I just might stick a fork in my eye.

Oops... You forgot to read the rest.

Ive been saying all along that EVERYONES goal is to win a championship BUT for me its not next year. Is that so hard to understand? I dont see how that is unbelievable or turned full circle.

That really made me laugh...lol

As for the question at hand I voted for someone else...I mean their are just so many possibilites as to what can happen with that OG spot that I'm sure we all are looking over at the one possibility that will be the end result...this is GP we are talking about their is no way of telling what he's going to do...we'll be blindsided like usual and then say he's a genius later :D

It is UNREALISTIC that you will stick a fork in your eye if you read the word again.

^I think everyone would love to win a championship next year and everyone will cheer on the team as if they are a favorite to win the championship

But I think when people say that we won't contend its just them being realistic about our chances...I mean their are a lot of gaps and uncertainties right now with the Kings and people are just keepin it real...ofcourse they would LOVE LOVE to be wrong and find out that we will indeed be one of the teams contending for a championship

So, what you're saying is....EVERYONE doesn't want to win a championship next year.....have you asked everyone??? Why don't you start another poll and ask that question. Does anyone want to win a championship next year? You would find yourself in the minority if you said no.

Like I said, it could be the run on sentences that have been confusing me. Maybe you should put your main points in bold lettering more often.
You could easily look at past posts and see what I meant. Ill clarify it for you. EVERYONE wants to win a championship and has that goal every year BUT next year it wont happen with this lineup and most people know and understand that like yourself.

Thank you. Finally someone has logged on and decided to post. I dont even know what Sanity is arguing about. I guess he just cant understand what Im saying or typing for some reason because its unclear but everyone else seems to be able to read it and understand as well as relate to it perfectly.

Back on topic:

I think someone said that Evans wasnt on the team right now? Is he returning as a sure thing or can we narrow it down to Martin, Garcia and trade/other?

As far as Evans go, the word is that he either has been or will be made a qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent in that we'll be able to match any other offers he might receive should we so choose.

Petrie said that both Darius and Mo were being tendered those offers, so we'll just have to see what happens.

I wonder what the qualifying offer is for a player that has just one full year under his belt? I bet it isn't much. I would hope that Petrie adds a litte more to the pot than the minimum. Surely another team would offer him quite a bit more, sticky Petrie with a very Divac-like situation. Pay him or let him go.

From what I understand the qualifying offer simply gives us a foot in the door. Otherwise we wouldn't have the right to match offers... Mo would simply be an unrestricted free agent, able to choose whatever offer came his way. With the QO in place, however, if Team A offers him X money and we want him, we can keep him by matching that offer...

If that's not right I hope someone can clarify it a bit more.

That is correct, but a qualifying offer can also be viewed as a number for other teams to shoot for. It doesn't necessarily have to a minimal amount.

I wasn't aware that Evans was a restricted free agent anyway. I figured that he was signed on a one-and-done basis, much like House, making him unrestricted. Looks like I may have been wrong on that asssumption. I certainly hope so.

i really think Martin and Garcia will be splittin the SG playing time...... im sure whoever shows more production or improvement will end up getting more of the time.... but as of right now its a developing progress for both of them

Fillmoe- Good point. They both are young (same age) and still need to develop in different areas. I think they need to split time for the first 20 or so games and then based on practices, attitude, and game time play I would like more minutes given to the guy who is ready to handle them. These two guys may be our future SG for a while and may not be trade bait so if thats the case then develop now.
Also, with comparisons to Reggie Miller I would rather hold on to a Reggie duplicate (he is supposed to be a better all around player than Reggie but who knows) than trade him for a big. Somehow get us KG Petrie and next season will look very bright.

I think Evans is coming back unless someone makes him a rediculous offer and will either start or be behind Garcia. Martin will still be on the bench or trade bait if Evans returns. I think Mobley is long gone....

I like Martin, but I think he'll be behind these 2 after training camp. Love to be proved wrong and have him improve enough to give us 3 decent (not great, especially at this point in their careers, obviously) options at the 2 with the expanded rosters.

Bobby won't start at the 2, but if he can stay healthy(Big If), you can bet he will be playing a lot of minutes at OG with Bibby at the point. He played a lot of 2 (especially at the end of games, when it really matters) even when Doug was still here. What makes any of you guys think he won't take signifigant minutes over 2 unproven kids, or even Mo? I think we can match any offer Evans gets but if another team offers him more than 3 mill, I'm not so sure the Maloofs will want to match it. They haven't exactly showed a tendency to pay players just to keep them lately, even if the team is worse off for it. I can only hope we can keep Evans or get someone else big enough to guard the Kobes, and T-macs of the west, and that Adelman will actually trust them enough to play them... but I kinda doubt it.

b-jax is best off the bench backing up bibby at point guard.

I didn't say he was a restricted free agent. His contract expires June 30. From what I understand, if the Kings do nothing he's an unrestricted free agent. If, on the other hand, they choose to make a qualifying offer, then he becomes a restricted free agent.

Where is NME when we need him?

NME has been our resident expert in all matters pertaining to contracts, etc. for several years. I certainly wish he would check in on this matter.
