Who is the Kings next Back Up SF?

I'll throw my hat in here with Barnes. Like everyone else said; plays hard, cheap, multi-role. We have plenty of bench scoring with Corliss and Martin. You need guys like Barnes. There's reasons that the Mario Elies of the world have won multiple titles.

Answer = probably not unless he's bulked up considerably. In college his rep was as a guy who did not like to be banged around, and in the pros he'd be giving up 30lbs to most SFs. Matchup guy only + need a real backup there.

I think it all depends on what Petrie and Adlman want from their back up SF. Is it a scoring touch or is it hustle and defence.

If you want hustle and defence but if you want a bit of scoring punch and a player that is an excellent passer and has length then you go after someone like Toni Kukoc.

It just depends on how GP and RA want to "structure" their bench and what they want from certain back ups. I could see us going with Kukoc if we go for the offensive option. Even though he is old, he is the type of players that would fit well with us offensively.

I don't care. At this point We've got Corliss, maybe Kenny Thomas, maybe Garcia, B. Wells. We've got people who can spot at SF.

right. a backup SF is not among the Kings' more pressing needs. IMO, GP should concentrate more on getting a solid starting C/PF.

I would love to see Barnes back, but if Geoff does address another backup SF, and I think he only does that if he moves Corliss or Kevin, I don't know if it will be Barnes.

When I looked at the list of players available, the one name that jumped out as the sort of move that Geoff would make was Chris Crawford. I dunno, just a hunch, but he seems like a Geoff type player, and I would not be surprised to see him if another SF is acquired.

Based on Well's ability to slide to the three and the fact that Corliss is still on the roster, I certainly don't see backup SF as an area of need. Against smaller lineups, Wells and Special K/The Cisco Kid would be fine on the wings.

That being the case, I am now fully aboard the "Bring Back Barnes Bandwagon" (how's that for alliteration?)

He'll come cheap, he knows the system, he scraps and he wants to be here. Barnes, like Songaila, plays within himself and doesn't hurt the team when they bring him off the bench. He's no sparkplug, but hopefully someone else (Martin? Thomas?) will pick up the role recently vacated by Bobby Jackson.

With Corliss likely to be traded, I'd say it's a need.

James Jones (be GREAT for what we need, but I bet he stays with Pacers)/Barnes/Adrian Griffin/Shandon Anderson. 1 I think would be good at that spot. All bring defense and some scoring, while the first two bring that, and youth, and James brings definite athleticism.

All are unrestricted FAs, except Jones who is an RFA. I wouldn't mind if we kept Corliss for back-up SF or depth, but would put the others ahead of him.
