I truly have no idea. It's looking like there's a decent chance Walker may fall if there's no big changes with lottery trades, and I have a hard time seeing the Kings pass on such an accomplished prospect at 7. I don't know if that's sound reasoning, but it's the best I could muster.

I think "None of the above" might be leading closer Kings get to making the pick - with a trade now a distinct possibility. None of the selections that are likely to be available at #7 are ones to go gaga over. If Kemba falls, maybe... or maybe Fredette is a suitable Beno replacement in a year or two, stretching the floor with his long range shooting. Leonard seems a safe pick, who could turn into another Gerald Wallace, or nothing more than a steady garbage man who plays solid D, rebounding better than any of Kings current SF trio, with their inconisistent, mostly mediocre production. Valanciunas is a possiblity but he's only 18 and probably won't be a factor in NBA for at least a couple years - if willing to wait. Sort of the same with Vasely but if he develops a consistent outside shot he could be steal of the draft - or at least one of them. Ok, I voted, None of the above.

I don't really have a horse in this race, as I don't really follow college bball, but I have a feeling that if Leonard is still on the board, they will take him. Although rumors say that the maloofs will press to select Jimmer if he's available.

If Kemba falls we take him, if not then GP suprises us just like when we took JT. Jimmers clearly the Maloofs pick

I believe that GP will ignore the Maloofs in deciding who to pick on Thursday. If the pick is not traded, I think Jonas Valanciunas will be a King (and it will shock everyone)! =)

Jonas will 100% not be the pick since he won't be able to get out of his contract until a year from now. That's not happening with this year being so important to the Kings.

I understand what you're saying. I was just thinking that GP would pick (if we indeed keep the pick) someone that would surprise the majority of fans.

Jimmer. He fills a need, and is old enough to contribute a lot faster than the others.

We will pick Jimmer Fredette.

I would have loved to pick Hamilton, but it looks like he will go to a non-playoff team that is looking for BPA and he will probably sit on the bench there until traded as part of a package for an expiring, and never get to prove himself in the the NBA.

I want Jimmer but voted Leonard as Leonard may turn out to be a surprise what with his motor, wing span, and hand size. All of these physical characteristics allow for the basketball skills to develop.

Ric Bucher just reported on ESPN that Kings FO has won battle over ownership and Fredette is not likely to be selected by Kings at #7. Apparently, Klay Thompson is getting more interest and if Kimba Walker or Jan Vesely fall into their lap, Kings would be hard pressed not to to take one of them. Alec Burks remains a possibility as well. Kawhi Leonard stock may be falling at bit around league (and w/ Kings) as Jay Bilas on same ESPN draft preview show does not rate him in the top 10 of overall talent in this draft. Fredette said to be on radar of Phoenix and maybe suprisingly Golden State.

Petrie likes skilled players, and especially likes perimeter players that can shoot the ball. Its for this reason that I've come to the conclusion that the Kings might not draft Burks, Leonard, and perhaps Walker. I think Walker is borderline because of the other things he brings, and he is a good midrange shooter. I just think that if Petrie is given a choice between two players, and one can shoot the ball better, he's more inclined to go with that player. It wouldn't shock me to see Petrie draft Klay Thompson. He's a very smart player, and he's a great shooter. I'm still inclined to think he may go with Fredette.

And by the way, I don't believe this crap about some battle between ownership and Petrie over Fredette. I seriously doubt that anyone knows whats going on behind those closed doors. I do know there's a lot of smoke coming out from under the door.

Completely agree baja. I remember he was really won over in regards to DC because of his shooting range not just what he offered inside. Id say you've hit the nail on the head here. I expect a bit of a suprise with the selection unless someone falls. Thompson would be right in line for the pick

Thats a bit of a misconception about Petrie. Sure he likes skilled player because they are the safest picks.

However, he often goes for what he thinks is the most talented player. He went Tyreke (can't shoot) over Curry (great shooter). He was super high on Noah and only selected Hawes because Bulls pinched Noah a pick before ours and didn't hide his disappointment. He also selected players like Kevin Martin and Gerald Wallace (both that at the time of drafting couldn't shoot)

He will pick what he thinks is the most talented player available and if happens to be a great shooter, then thats a bonus.

Very difficult to know who will be picked. Hasn't been this wide open as far back as I can remember. Klay Thompson appears to be a good fit, but I really don't know much about him apart from the fact that he can shoot and isn't a great athlete. So I'm not sure how I would feel about him right away.

I think Vesely might be the pick if he's still on the board. Divac loves him and supposedly put in a good word with the Kings FO. Leonard is my other guess. But then again, no one really knows.

Gut feeling tells me that if we keep this pick Petrie takes Kawhi Leonard. It will be pretty clear that the team wont be signing a SF of the free agents that are available.

I'm going to take a flyer on Valanciunas. I think he's falling because of his contract status over seas. He has a lot of upside, plays hard and has a good back to the basket game and is a good rebounder. He might have to play out his contract or get a buyout, but I think it would be worth it in the long run. Plus, I don't think Dalembert is going to resign here. He's not happy with the way he is being used and will probably take less money than he can make here to go to a contender. IMHO of course.

I went with Leonard. No one who's going to be there at 7 stands out as being significantly better than anyone else so i think they go the safest most logical route and pick Leonard based on the need to get a decent SF on the team.

I like Green, but not sure the C's want to part with him yet...or what they want in return. Doubt he's an option at this point...but you never know Petrie, right?

The Cs may not have much choice though. I don't think they can offer him what the Kings can. I'm not certain how these things work but wouldn't the Kings just have to beat the Celtics qualifying offer?
