How your guys regard this?

IMO this is huge potential in the KIDD's body despite off % def end.

He has excellent balance & body control for 7 'foot big man

and decent foot work for sure.

In defense area it is noticeable that he just rises his hand

and the block shot brought so easy, he has some block instincts,

not just human Poster stand.

The most interesting things is seems he never lost his focus

in the court, which can developed to a great team-work player

in both def&offense end, that been very different between some media

airticle's

criticize on him (lazy, low basket IQ...) and I see.

Very interesting clip! He might be a guy that Petrie goes for. GP goes for these " off the radar " type of players. Would it surprise me if we draft him? Yeah it would.

He seems very active in the paint. I like that.

But who knows?

He may have big upside, but what concerns me is the fact, that he couldn´t score a single point against Hilton Armstrong in his 1 on 1 workout.

He needs to gain strenght and weight. You just cannot judge a player by watching some youtube highlight reels. But you can´t overlook the fact that he has a lot of talent, but #5 would be a reach for him. We´d have to be patient if we drafted him.

Strengths:
good height
elite length
shot blocking skills
solid mid range jumper
decent touch around the basket
very good speed and quickness for a 7 footer
great upside as a shot blocker and rebounder

Weaknesses:
old for his class
poor man to man defender
lacks rebounding fundamentals
very poor passer
good athlete, but not that explosive
very raw offensively
played against weak competition
severely lacks lower body strength
could put on 20-30 lbs, but not much more than that
maturity and motivation concerns

High projection: Marcus Camby
Mid projection: Javale McGee
Low projection: Patrick O'Bryant

Found it interesting that they only showed three clips of the Tulsa/Marshall game. All three showing Whiteside scoring or blocking a shot. They conviently left out all the plays of Jerome Jordan scoring almost everytime he attacked the basket against Whiteside. Lets remember that were watching youtube highlights. All your going to see are the good things, and not the bad.

No one disputes the fact that Whiteside is a very good shotblocker. If thats all there was to basketball he be an instant star. His post offense is a work in progress. One thing that they showed a few times was his jumper. Which has good form and should be a solid weapon. But he's a project in many ways. That doesn't mean he's not worth drafting, or that he won't develop into a solid player. But I think the 5th pick in the draft is too high for him to be picked..

One added note:

I only saw two of the games Marshall played against Tulsa. In the first game Whiteside scored 10 points and had 1 rebound. Jordan had 24 points and 12 rebounds. In the second game I saw Whiteside had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan had 21 points and 12 rebounds. So he improved in the second game. But he had little effect on Jordan. A player just as tall if not a little taller and definitely stronger. You know, the kind he'll face every day in the NBA.
