Did those 20-25 investors ever become officially part of anything? Not yet, I don't think.

Does anyone ever take a step back and think about the amount of money that is involved. Some people have more money that others, eh? :)
It's being reported they are now part of the 65% being purchased.

That includes the part in bankruptcy? I have lost track of what is what. Anyway, I am sure they are just along for the ride just like the other minority owners. I am still not clear if the 3 whales and one whale pod (Jacobs brothers) are divided up so you have one majority partner and 3 minority partners or whether the 4 are all together with one speaking for them. If it were me, I'd rather be a minority owner which gives me the ability to sell rather than being part of a group.

The 65% is what the Maloofs control and what they sold to Hansen's team (some of that is Bob Herneich's but Maloofs control it).

The 7% in bankruptcy is separate, and that was purchased by one of the existing minority owners whose name I forgot.

The 20-25 $1 million investors had been talked about as far as bidding on the 7%, but that didn't happen. Instead they are part of the group bidding on the shares the Maloofs control.

There are three "whales" bidding on that 65% (Ranadive, Mastrov and the Jacobs family), plus other local investors. We don't know the break down of who will pay/own what out of that group, and I don't think they know yet. It has all been very fluid. But what they're putting forward to the NBA is that some combination of that group will own the team and invest in the arena and that among them there is the resources and commitment to follow through. So changes like removing Burkle or adding in new local investors don't really change the story.

Now I am back on track. The important sentence of yours is the last one.

Doug Christie for sure. Remember him baiting players to make the post entry pass and come up with the steal or chase down the potential lay up and end up with a showtime block? DC my favorite King.

On a related note, here's a transcript of a note that President Bill Clinton wrote to Chris Webber shortly after the infamous timeout fiasco:

April 9, 1993

Dear Chris,

I have been thinking of you a lot since I sat glued to the TV during the championship game.

I know that there may be nothing I or anyone else can say to ease the pain and disappointment of what happened.

Still, for whatever it's worth, you, and your team, were terrific. And part of playing for high stakes under great pressure is the constant risk of mental error. I know. I have lost two political races and made countless mistakes over the last twenty years. What matters is the intensity, integrity, and courage you bring to the effort. That is certainly what you have done. You can always regret what occurred but don't let it get you down or take away the satisfaction of what you have accomplished.

You have a great future. Hang in there.

Sincerely,

Bill Clinton

I'm not posting this for any kind of political discussion (forbidden by our rules) but to emphasize that I think it was pretty incredible for the President of the United States to write the note at all. And, as Clinton predicted, Webber did have a great future ahead of him.

Combination of Peja/DC/Ron. Peja was my favorite player during the golden generation, and was actually one of the top couple of players in the association at one point during the year of his MVP run when Cwebb was hurt. DC, consummate professional who was just one of the best role playing 2's of all time. Ron, even though was here only a short amount of time left it on the floor, praised the city, and that playoff run with him/bonzi when we took the Spurs to a hard fought 6 was one of my top 3 favorite seasons
