What do you think the market value of Andre Miller is?

He's pretty much gone from Philly. He's a UFA, and recent reports have him, along with fellow UFA teammate Ratliff, skipping the exit meetings. It's a safe bet he's gone. So, the question becomes if the Kings draft a big (Blake 1, Thabeet 3, etc), should they pursue Miller in FA? I can't see him getting less than 6 mil a year, unless he takes less to go to a contender, and I don't think the Kings would pay that when they are penny pinching. Do they stick with Beno and find a backup to split minutes? Or do they go after a solid PG?

Realistically, he's not going to the Kings unless they overpay him. He's at the point in his career where he will probably want to be on a winner.

when I see Millers name mentioned and how he became a solid NBA pg. I can't help but think back when the Clippers built a team from the ground up and had the talent then before they had time to grow together they traded them all away. the line up went like this

that was a solid core and 1 by one they traded them all away for nothing except for Maggette and Brand who stuck around for a while.

I will admit bias on my part when it comes to Miller. But I wouldn't rush to judgement so quickly when it comes to him. He's always been a team player, as well as a consumate professional. I won't, and can't defend his actions, because I don't know the motivation. But, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, until I have reason to believe otherwise.

His market value is the MLE like any other player not worth more than 10+ mil/year. There is no market for players between the MLE and 10 mil.

He does have roots in EDH so it wouldnt be out of the question that he might want to come here. If we can't get Hedo or someone like him then I wouldn't mind Miller on a 2 year deal even if we get Rubio or another pg. Just as long as we can move Beno.

Oh and before someone says something, I've given up on cap space in 2010 at this point.

i know im just nitpicking but wasnt miller traded for darius miles? they didnt play together. miles went to the cavs...

back to the topic, miller isnt worth it unless its a s&t for beno... with a 2 year contract.

You do realize there's only an MLE if your team is over the salary cap, right? If you're under the cap, you can spend whatever you want to get the player of your dreams. I seriously doubt if anyone in the Kings front office is dreaming about Andre Miller.

I am weary of players who have made their money, and chase more money landing them on a bottomfeeding team(Baron Davis). Basically, if Miller wanted to come to 916, i would be concerned that he doesn't want to win, and just wants a large check. I would preferably like to stick to Chris Wilcox type deals that are for 2 years at a decent salary with bonuses and a third year option. That way the player has to work for another contract that very year and the next because his next contract depends on it. 5-6 year deals like Baron Davis's gives the player 3 years to idle before they start working.

That is inaccurate. The MLE counts against the cap until the team renounces the rights to it. Read your link at the top of the forum for the explanasion.

About Davis, he and Brand talked and it was his understanding he would be playing alongside Brand in LA, his hometown. So, he wasn't just chasing cash, he thought the team would be better and was going home, where he's wanted to play for years.
