As a citizen of the US. Darius is free to do as he wishes, and will suffer the consequences. Because he is no longer in the NBA this story has little value because stern doesn't have the right to fine or suspend him anymore. The greatest punishment Darius is going to get is the lack of attention from the NBA and us. Pot or not, he wasn't going to be in the NBA next year, its just sad that he had to end his tenure with the league like Spreewell did.

1. Having U.S. citizenship does not give one the freedom to "do as he wishes."

2. This is the NBA forum. Miles played in the NBA. It follows, therefore, that this story is just as relevant as those who read it want to make it.

Everyone is free to do as they wish... that's not to say everything they do will be without consequences.

He said "CITIZENS" are free to do as they wish. And that is patently incorrect. Citizens are bound to do or not to do certain acts by law. It is when they violate the laws that they must suffer the consequences.

I am NOT free to walk into my neighbor's house and take whatever I wish. If I choose to do so, I am breaking a number of laws. It is for that reason I will face consequences.
