What about getting bigger?

We just traded our only other player that was at least 7 feet tall. Peja is now our second tallest player.

The moves are obviously not done yet.

With the MLE do we need address the size issue?

Or do we just go for talent?

I like Reggie Evans but he is 6'8". We now need size!

I agree, but at least now we have a relatively clear task. Good to get one thing out of the way.
 
Oh you dont have to worry about that we still have flexible trading pieces and the whole MLE to get a big man so we are just fine. Looks to me like the Kings may be very deep next year like we were in the 01-02 and the 02-03 seasons.
 
Or how about Micheal "Yogi" Stewart. Maybe he can regain his rookie form of so many years ago...

This is a good move, and now the Kings will focus on getting bigger at the C/PF position. My hope is the Kings pursue a good starting C and move Brad to PF on a permanent basis. If the Kings can get a guy like Evans for the MLE, I will be a very happy man. Still plenty of time left.
 
now that our 2 guard issue (that could only get better) is taking care of i definately think we need to sign someone big. but who can we get? now that jackson and greg ostertag are gone who do we have to offer? these are the remaining players other than the one's in our 3-man core. skinner/thomas/corliss/darius/. i don't wanna give up bibby and most of us do not want to give up peja. so ideally, who can we get for maybe skinner, thomas, corliss and darius?

if we can't get someone with a shotblocking presence and decent rebounding we are out of the first round.
 
In all seriousness, I think the Kings now have a bit of a problem in obtaining a quality PF. It would be virtually impossible to get a good 4 via trade unless they're willing to deal Peja. I really can't see a team trading a top tier 4 for two middle tier 4's (take your pick of Williamson, Thomas or Skinner), and the Kings don't have any other movable parts at this point.

I also don't think the Kings are going to find a starting power forward in free agency, short of (ugh) Antoine Walker. I know there are some big Evans and Hunter advocates on this board, but they're just not going to put the Kings over the top. Evans and Hunter are perfect PFs for teams built around a superstar. Put them next to Tim Duncan and they're going to look fantastic. But the Kings aren't a team where one-dimensional role players will work. Because the Kings lack a superstar they have to have multi-dimensional, skilled players at every single position. Short of (ugh) Walker, there isn't a player like that left via free agency.

So... will the Kings trade Peja? It depends on who you're going to get for him. I can't quite see a top-flight power forward coming our way for him.

So basically, I think Kenny Thomas is the Kings' starting PF next year. I actually am not as scared about this as some people on the board, but I'm not seeing many options at this point. The Kings should absolutely fortify the position with Evans or Hunter or whoever, but unless Petrie works some serious magic I think we'd better get used to it.

if we have thomas, corliss or skinner in the starting lineup we're out of the 1st round. again. if it comes down to it, i would probably deal peja and thomas for one of those top tier pf's
 
Petrie watched the playoffs, Thomas won't be our starting PF. He has toughness, hustles, and can board, shoot. But he's too small, an SF.

Like I've been saying since I reg'ed here, get Reggie Evans, fantastic rebounder, hustler, and is tough.

Or now because of Nikolz on the Wolves, possibly can get Eddie Griffin. I love his game, and is also what the Kings are aspiring for.

Corliss was never in our starting five except for the a few games early in the trade.

Well fact of the matter is that Petrie said just a few days ago that he wanted the Kings to get "bigger". Now we have no choice. We have to bring in some other 7 footers. As Brick said, at least now the lines are a little clearer and now we know what we need.
 
I just dont see the Kings trading Peja since reading the article in the Bee today. It seems like he's really dedicated to getting back to his MVP status of a year ago. He said that he's working on post moves, improving his dribble, and also working on creating his own shot. Like Larry Bird said if Peja had a post game he would be hard to guard and I believe that, so I don't think he's gonna be traded but you never know these days.

Actually with the aquisition of Bonzi, Skinner at the starting PF is starting to sound better to me.

I agree that we can't have any of those dudes starting for us, but trading Peja doesn't really help any. Swapping one hole for another is not a good strategy. I would rather see us trade Thomas plus Skinner or Corliss for a PF, or get one through free agency, rather than trading Peja and then creating the need to find a new starting SF.
 
I like Skinner, he played well until injuried not one but both of his thumbs, man I bet it was painful banging in the pant, but I dont think he is a starter but I hope we can keep him

There is the Thomas as SF idea. Might work.

Also would rather have a hole at SF than a hole at PF. Not to mention the looming max contract. But obviously as in any move involving Peja, have to make sure you get back a major piece.

we've been "trying to find a starting SF of 2001". meaning we haven't found one becuase when the postseason hits peja dissapears. any low caliber small forward could probably outplay stojakovic in the playoffs. as a matter of fact, trenton hassell was better than peja in the semi's.

how many playoff games have we won off peja's shooting hand?

now count how many playoff games we've won off of mike's shooting hand!

Skinner is a hustling, defensive minded, rebounding PF. He doesn't have a great inside game other than cleaning up someones junk for putbacks, but with Bonzi, who has an inside game, it lessens the pain of not having a dominant big man in the paint.

Not that Skinner has zero post ability b/c he has shown SOME, but it isn't exactly the best in the world.

I don't really want to see Skinner just filling in for Brad for the 10 minutes (and some 20 missed games :D, well hopefully not next season!), I would like to see him at least backing up at PF and get more minutes there.

Evans is 6'5" 220 lbs. Guy would of been fine as a starter, and still think there is a chance we have him on our roster. Until he agrees to a deal with another team, then he is likely gone.
