What about Artest To NJ Nets?

if its easy to beleive then maybe its a fair trade.

The above comments (I'm assuming) had nothing to do with the specifics of your trade proposal.

They are more directed at the title you chose which makes it seem as though "Artest to NJ Nets", regardless of the trade specifics, is a done deal.

It might be better to put either a question mark or the word "proposal" in your thread title to avoid confusion.

First off, that trade won't work under the cap. Ron makes about $8M. Anderson's guaranteed contract will be under $1.5M and CDR may not have even signed yet (in any case he'll get $1M tops).

But even on the premise, I'd like to get a bit more for Artest than two young role-player types and a middle first, especially when the role players have yet to play in an NBA game. At least the Artest for Najera/Kleiza + 1st rumors would have given us a proven young role player in Kleiza. If we can't get a bit more than that for Artest, I'd rather hold him until the deadline then try our luck then.

the only thing to hang onto there is the Ron homecoming angle, because otherwise the Nets trades of Kidd, and then Jefferson on draft day, have clearly shown that they are going into a rebuilding mode, and unlike certain franchises not to be named, understand what that meansand how to go about it. And Ron Artest makes no sense for a rebuilding franchise. Any rebuilding franchise.

Only hope would be if they actually thought he would sell them tickets as the hometown boy when they move to Brooklyn.

First let me say that I like Ryan Anderson, and CDR should have been a first round pick. But, as stated by a prior post, it doesn't work under cap rules. Plus I agree with Bricky, that they're probably in a rebuilding mode, and wouldn't make the trade even if it did work.

Thanks for changing the title. I agree Ron is not mean't for a rebuilding team. But, the Celtics shook and moved, now they are champions. The east is so up in the air, the nets quite possibly could make a move like this, and it puts them in the second round of the playoffs(maybe). This is not altogether unlikely or impossible. I was thinking they would have to add Simmons to make things work, or maybe a 3rd team. The Nets are rebuilding, but so were the celtics. This kind of deal could start a HUGE bidding war for Ron Artest, in the east. Because, if this deal did go down, the nets would definately be fighting for home court in the playoffs. And no one in the east wants to be bumped out of the top 8. ATL and NY would be forced to make an offer to counter the New Jersey bid. Ron turns the Nets into one peice away from title contender.

I am amazed that anyone could understand enough of what I was saying to agree with me given the number of typos in that post. ;)

Anyways, the kings, straight up and down, need a shooter. A good one. And Ryan Andersen fits our need for shooting and versatility in the front court. And i think we should snatch this guy up before his current team figures that they just picked up a stud. I noticed a glut of front court players on their roster and i figured that Yi is definately staying, and Brook Lopez is looking like the real mccoy. that leaves Krstic/Swift/Boone/Andersen fighting for frontcourt minutes. That could be a good thing for New Jersey, but I think it would be better for New Jersey to solidify their starting lineup and worry about the reserves later. They have 3 centers 3 power fowards. They may just be making up for last year's lack of bigs, but, 6 bigs that all need minutes to develop is just too many. We have a decent SF who plays big, this should be attractive to NJ. Our team, as is, Mikki/Miller/Hawes/Thompson/Artest are our big men. That just isn't going to cut it IMO. This all depends on Thompson. He could really blow us all away and this trade idea as well. We will have to wait and see.

Thing is Boston was already in the rebuilding stage before deciding to go all the way. The nets kinda just started, which is why they traded away Kidd and RJ...

Boston didn't trade away their 2 best players for rebuilding pieces. They were rebuilding for years, and managed to turn young guys and Ratliff into Garnett and Allen. NJ only started rebuilding when they traded Kidd. If you're trying to win now, you don't trade away talent for lesser talent

I dont want to win now, i want the 1st overall pick in the draft, and to do that, we need to trade Artest ASAP. Artest wont loose unless he is betting on the game.

I wouldnt see this happening. The Nets are trying to keep cap space open b/c they will make a run at Lebron in 2010. I have a feeling they are going to get him too. I doesnt hurt that Jay-Z is part owner of the Nets and him and Lebron are good friends.
