He's a career 39% 3PT shooter over nearly 3700 attempts, so I really doubt he's going to forget how to shoot. Also, we have many other weapons teams have to guard compared to what he's had this year and he's at 45% with very high volume.

We're 100% all-in on buckets though. I actually think we probably get a little better offensively because you can fit LaVine offensively more effectively with our other offensive hubs. Defensively... well... let's just not worry about that eh?

With so much firepower, "the best defense is a good offense", I guess, for now. He was unstoppable anywhere from the court the last time we faced the Bulls.
 
Call me Homer Slamson but Lavine, DeRozan and Sabonis are not a bad "big three", and a supporting cast of Murray, Ellis, and Monk... is... a playoff experienced roster with three All-stars and a sixth man runner up.

Fox was never the man. He was happy to be a big fish in a small pond and build up his stats thereby advancing his career. But literally the second we start to look like we might put it together, he bailed. I actually think this move makes us better, on net. Not just something we "had" to do. I think it makes us better. Fox never would have, and apparently never did want to win here. He wanted to build his stats and make money. Good riddance.

You know who the real winner is in this trade? Malik Monk. Ironically.

I was never super high on Lavine and I know he played in the East but he earned that contract that is currently out of Fox's reach. He achieved the level of player who Fox thinks he is. He's older and not as able bodied but he is going to bring something Fox lacked. The problem of us being thin up front still remains though so we must resolve that on a quicker timetable now.

eta: been pointed out that I was wrong and both are just on regular max contracts for their qualifying situation. I thought Fox had been given a designated rookie contract because all the kvetching on this board prior to 22-23 about how overpaid he was. Turns out he is on a 25% deal and Zach is on the 30% deal.

So I guess they are just more or less peers.

If twitter people have STH he will be. We'll see I guess. I'll never see him play another game in person again so doesn't really matter what I might do.

Love monk but he can’t be your number one guy especially with Sabonis as a number two. You need multiple creators anyways this shouldn’t effect monk especially going forward when we replace DD

I agree — I was just speaking pessimistically as a KINGS fan of 40 years witnessing countless players seemingly forget how to play once they put on a KINGS uniform and/or finally figuring out how to play once leaving the org for another team.

I ask that you excuse me for having battered KINGS fan syndrome. It’s a hard thing to shake.

I really hope you’re right. I’m on record not liking the trade. I don’t think they got proper assets in return. Not only in the form of draft assets, but also the player types.

Having said that and having slept on it over night, it’s time to move on and forward with what we got. If this team proves me wrong and develops into a better version of itself, I’ll be quite happy about it.

I'm fine with LaVine but can't really grok not getting back some frontcourt depth. This is stupid. We better make a move for a backup Center minimum. Jonas, Beef Stew, Timelord... I'd love to get two of those guys.

If we could somehow do the Cam-Sharpe deal and then get one of those guys I am also happy. I don't love Cam just like I don't love Zach but he can spell DDR and Keegan when we need an offensive pick me up, and the other dudes could cover us on D when needed.

I still feel like something has to give in the starting lineup though for some defense/offense balance and someone who starts now should be 6th man. Not sure who that is, it won't be fun to be Doug explaining that.

Dates back to last year when they told Kev he'd come off the bench and then changed their mind after preseason. I know that he struggled shooting as early as late into 2023 and then was pretty worthless in Golden State but it was that point where it all went kaput.

I hope LaVine can light it up.

And now Domas has a guy that can smoothly shoot or drive and spray off the DHO. Fox and DeMar aren't nearly as complete as LaVine in that sense. Monk isn't nearly the shooter and more of a pick and roll player. The fit offensively should be much better with Monk/LaVine as opposed to Fox. Fox simply doesn't work off the ball and hasn't since day 1. This does feel like more of a balancing trade in the say way Hali and Domas was. Hopefully this works this time.
