Welcome Drew Eubanks

I think we generally expect too much right away for 2nd round picks. Yes, exciting to think about what he might become, but I would be surprised if he's legitimately ready to play 15 to 20 min a game to start his NBA career.

I mean, we HAD the right back-up where we could bring Reynaud along slowly and we punted that guy for financial flexibility. So once again, what are we doing here? If we're trying to win, why are vastly downgrading JV to Eubanks?

I don't think they're trying to win per se but certainly not trying to just tank it. Domas wouldn't go for that. No way can they go look at the paper and think giving up a starting quality C to a Western playoff contender does nothing but make their path tougher.

That's kinda the rub here. If our current players can't yield us equal players or potential future prospects/picks in a trade and the team isn't bad enough to really compete for the #1 draft spot, then that basically leaves no real serious opportunities to get better.

Yeah, they are appearing to rate the salvage plan > tanking. The deadline will be interesting. I was all for a run it back rather than really going for it, but we need to see what that 3rd year of Schroder is guaranteed at.

Ladies and gents, we got our guy!
In all seriousness, no chance we watch Eubanks get mins over Maxime and Jones. Right?

A second round pick isn’t coming in and getting rotational minutes unless he wows in camp you guys are living in dreamland with the draft picks might wanna lower expectations there till they prove something

It just comes down to nailing your draft picks or at least one big one. The odds are better at the top of the draft but the talent is all over and we have seen that time and time again.

Yeah, it's looking like next year is just a punt year. BUT if you can walk into next season with a good idea of what

Carter
Keon
Keegan
Nique
Reynaud
IJ

are, that at least helps you start a proper rebuild. And if we're bad by the deadline, DDR probably becomes the top trade candidate at that point, so you can probably ink some value there. LaVine on an expiring that off-season.

What we cannot do is go into next season with guys like Saric/Eubanks and a Russ Westbrook pushing all our young guys down on the depth chart and we just go win 38 games anyway. That would be the true disaster. A 7th or 8th pick next year is fine if we spend next season figuring out some real info on who are long-term players here.

Gives a **** what domas wants dudes not a top 10 player or a franchise player to be dictating what he wants. Go be a number option before we ask what does Domas want

Oh believe me, I know Maxime won't. But he absolutely should. Trial by fire. You don't draft a 4-5 year college pro and sit them until they are 25 years old.
Look at last year with GS and Post
Memphis and Wells
Jazz and Flip
Phx with Oso
I dont care if they suck. Eubanks is not winning you any games. Might as well play the guy who has upside.

Yeah, but I'm sure he must be part of that salvage plan. The Kings ran back a beam team when the league was shifting towards D teams. A lot of the Kings expensive pieces are of a bygone era already and the value is the ****'s apparently. It doesn't mean they shouldn't be moved anyway but there is time.

This is actually a good pickup
I watched him play enough in Portland that I can say I think some folks are sleeping on him but also he's not any kind of meaningful replacement for JV either. But I think it sets us up to give Maxime more opportunity as the season progresses. On the whole, I think it is a good move if we're resetting. Obviously it's hard to say we are doing that while the 3 starting SGs are all still here.

Exactly.

Either we compete, or we go for a rebuild. And we are not doing a rebuild unless we trade away most of our vets. So, if we are competing, why downgrade from JV to save some dough, and then blow up some of the savings on a lesser player?

Yes, this is for one year, and Saric is also an ender. So, we will have more flexibility next year. However, I would have thought that JV on an ending contract would be relatively easy to move then. Given our reputation, I would also trust trades more than FA to get us desired players. So, JV as an ender would be more valuable than the dollar amount of his contract.

I'm still waiting. So far this hasn't made sense. I'd say it's early but remaining FA's aren't inspiring at all.
We are now at 14, Davis could be gone to bring us back to 13.
I wasn't a big JVal fan, but if you say you aren't tanking, then trade him to save 5 million, and do nothing with that savings, then it's clearly just Vivek had a budget that he didn't want to exceed.
