I like Christie, but I don’t think he is ready to be a Head Coach. Just a safe bandaid for Vivek
Jokic could not be carrying that organization any more than he has been since they won the title. The Nuggets ORtg is 25 points worse, with him off the floor this season. They were 16 points worse with him off the floor last season and 25 points worse with him off in the playoffs. Malone's coaching resume looks a lot different if he's not gifted one of greatest players ever.
Post-game comments from the new coach:
“First thing, we have enough,” Christie said after the loss. “And this is a message I said to them."
“There’s enough in this locker room, but how we get over that are the things I talked about since I’ve been up here. The consistency, the focus, the willingness to play for my teammate at such a high level that it hurts so bad that I need to come out of the game."
“Like, that’s more than anything. There’s enough in that locker room to win ball games, and it’s up to us, it’s up to me, to be able to find that. They are the best in the world. I’m trying to put them in positions to make them shine, and that is a big difference from being an assistant coach.”
“But I’m here for the challenge, and I appreciate them for giving me everything they got,” Christie added. “But that pain that it takes, we’re going to need it again. And again. And again."
“Every time. There’s no wiggle room with that one. And that’s probably the grace period you’re talking about, but I don’t accept grace periods. I expect to win every time we step out on the ball floor because there’s enough in that locker room to make it happen.”

I don't think Fox can take on that personality i haven't seen anything to convince me he takes the game personal. We need to find some players who eat sleep hoop and have a fire in their belly. Miss me with those guys who high five and play slap ass with the opponent who just mopped the floor with you ugh.
Don't tell me how to fan or post. Kick all the rocks.Maybe don’t post this after a game where Doug had to call a time out and pull Fox out of the game to keep him from fighting a ref?

Don’t post “Fox has never shown competitive fire” or w/e like twelve hours after he showed exactly that then? I’m not saying it’s a discussion not worth having but you posting that after this particular game indicates that you either didn’t watch the game (which is fine) or you’re just more concerned with pushing an agenda. He and Malik spent most of the second half trying to fight Pj Washington and the refs to the point where it was almost hurting the team.Don't tell me how to fan or post. Kick all the rocks.
I think he's speaking on process. I thought Malone was a good and Brown was
Malone was a good coach as was Mike Brown,. you know the guy that was Coach of the Year two years ago. The guy that they signed to an extension during the summer. No one can talk me out if my belief that Vivek is terrible owner at this point. I hope I'm wrong, I've been a life long Kings fan. What reputable coach would want to work for Vivek?
Not questioning how you feel about Vivek. But a question to you and others who feel the same is, why do all of these hiring, firing, player acquisitions, etc fall on Vivek when we don't like it, and credit goes to the coaches, players and GM when we do like the results?
Who will we credit if Doug Succeeds?
Post what you want, I get what you’re saying. Sone people need to post here to vent or whatever it is you want to post.Don't tell me how to fan or post. Kick all the rocks.
Because people that have been close to and around him have confirmed that he still has no idea what he's doing with a professional sports team.
We will credit McNair, because he was one who they pushed forward as making the decision. If they came out and said that Vivek made the final decision, then he would get credit,....but they didn't do that
Also, if Steve Kerr can go from being part of the NBA on TNT studio team and the GM of the Phoenix Suns straight to being the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, a move that has seen him win FOUR NBA Championships, Doug Christie can most definitely go from being a lead assistant over the past 5 seasons to being a head coach. If JJ Reddick can go from hosting a podcast to coaching the Lakers, Doug Christie can go from being a front of the bench assistant over the last five seasons to a head coach (he even has a little experience in that role from the COVID season).
It's why people are reaching back to the 4-5 cherry pick to attack him now on other outlets. I guess some have criticized him using a search firm to land Monte but when your first two GM picks are terrible I think maybe it shows that's what you need to do. You can't even call him cheap after he fired the guy he just extended.I really get the vibe he’s learned from how terribly the team did early in his tenure. Hiring the outside consulting firm to settle on McNair seemed like the turning point, and I don’t recall any credible reports on continued meddling after that shift.

I honestly can't think of any thing he's done since Monte came on board that shows he is overstepping his bounds. Really he should be signing checks and little else unless we find ourselves in a GM search. He's definitely not a great owner but he's far from the worst. The Portland situation as you and I are both attuned to is far, far, far worse.
I don't know this guy just really doesn't sound like he's ready to be a coach.
Brown kept preaching this time and time again and it didn't land, do we really believe that a different individual delivering the same message will happen?
Yes, the messenger can make a big difference. Doug's energy is at a different level than Coach Brown's
It's the coach's job to make the players believe in the message, maybe Doug can reach them.![]()
players believed in Brown until they didn't
Nobody lasts forever. You just hope they last for more than a couple seasons
Christie is from the Golden Years and would fit the Redemption Arc story perfectly as he was the heart (along with Vlade) of those teams.average shelf life of a coach in Sac under Vivek is 2.5 to 3 years
