Week of 11/10 Power Rankings

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
ESPN
#10 (+6) -- DeMarcus Cousins is playing the ball of his life. Our guy Omri Casspi has emerged as one of Boogie's favorite teammates. And these Kings, despite losing Sunday's trap game at short-handed OKC before visits to Dallas and Memphis, are in the thick of the Team of the Month race. http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings

NBA
#8 (+3) -- Sacramento (5-2)
Pace: 97.8 (7), OffRtg: 103.3 (13), DefRtg: 100.0 (8), NetRtg: +3.3 (10)
Further tests lie ahead, but the Kings passed a big one in Phoenix on Friday. DeMarcus Cousins was denied the ball most of the night and then fouled out in regulation. Rudy Gay couldn't make a shot and they faced an overtime deficit of seven points before winning in double OT behind Darren Collison and Ben McLemore, who's starting to look like a player.
This week: @ DAL, @ MEM, vs. SAS OKC http://www.nba.com/2014/news/powerrankings/11/10/week2/index.html

CBSSports
#11 (-3) -- There's sad irony in the Kings capturing amazing chemistry, playing far beyond expectations and still finding a way to lose to OKC.

Yahoo
#14 (+3) -- (Record: 5-2; last week’s rank: 17): An excellent start lost some momentum with a loss Sunday to the injury-plagued Thunder, who were without Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba-power-rankings--warriors-remain-on-top-175745766.html

Sports Illustrated
#5 (+6) -- The Kings are for real in the sense that they are talented enough to beat anyone. Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins are playing with more discipline after their summer stints with Team USA. Now it's up to Sacramento's veteran leaders to get their teammates to do the same. http://www.si.com/nba/2014/11/10/nba-power-rankings-warriors-kings-raptors

#10 sounds just about right for me at this point...schedule doesn't get any easier, every game we are playing battled tested Western Conference playoff teams, this is a great way for the whole team to stay focused and not get sidetracked.

Yahoo sports is my usual place for NBA news and they do not cover the Kings one bit. Not even in the side stories column links. You have to go to the actual box score link to get a post game story on them and I'm pretty sure it's copy and pasted from elsewhere.

The irony about CBS is he was the first one to give us that credit when he jumped us to #8 last week, albeit with a note that we were going to fall, so he may have been looking for an excuse from the beginning. And there was his grade, and then there was this headline written by somebody not named him I presume:

VERY NICE.

Was just about to post this, but I see others are also in need of a cheer-me-up good news after the loss last night.

So can we drop the "espn hates us" schtick? Pretty simple: we play good = they give us credit. It's true that we were just that bad before.

This is high, but I think accurate, praise.

i know Yahoo has them ranked the lowest, but i honestly agree with that one the most. Lost to an injury plagued team but otherwise had an impressive week so they moved them UP to 14. If they continue to impress this week against Memphis, Dallas, San Antonio, then we can talk about putting them in the top 10. No need to get ahead of ourselves and set ourselves up for disappointment by putting them in the top 7 or 8 yet
