Webber's woes worry Adelman

SAN ANTONIO - Kings coach Rick Adelman wants power forward Chris Webber to shake off a sprained right ankle that led him to miss Tuesday night's 113-93 victory over the New Jersey Nets. "His ankle was (more sore) Tuesday than it was Monday," Adelman said of Webber, who sprained it Sunday night against San Antonio. "He's got to get it healthy. I don't want him to come back hobbling."

The Kings hope they are helping swingman Maurice Evans along that path by placing him on the injured list with a strained groin. Tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs will the second of five Evans must miss while being on the list.

Evans will be eligible to return Feb. 2 at Golden State.

Thats certainly not good news. Hopefully Webb will recover and play tonight, but if not then the rest of the guys have to step up. I still think the other starting 4 are more than enough to beat the Spurs if they even respectable D.

It'll be a tough tough game for us if Webb's not there, or even if he's there but not 100%. All of a sudden Bowen vs. Peja IV (score Bowen 2, Peja 1 so far) becomes absolutely pivotal. No Webb, No Bobby, No Mo...if Peja is shut down again we have almost no chance under those circumstances barring some miraculous performance by somebody. Hope Webb can go, but if not Peja just has to find whatever extra gear he had in that early January matchup.

That was my point Brick. IF Peja, Cat, Brad, and Bibby step up they have more than enough talent to Timmy and crew. Thats asking a lot considering Peja's history with Bowen.

Keys to the game are:

-Rebound
-Contain Parker and Manu. They can't be the ones to beat us.
-Score more than the other guys?

I think Webb there is important, but I still think if they do those three things they win.

I'm willing to guess if they do the third they are going to win

Im not 100% sure but , this is a big game and im sure he knows it , im guessing he will be there tonight...

I was like you IHB. I thought he would play for sure earlier in the week but now I think it's about 50/50.

I think he will play if it is at all possible. Obviously this a huge game for us, and I know that Webb wants to be there (assuming of course, that he already has cash in his wallet, and doesn't need to run to the ATM;) ). It's going to depend on how the ankle feels. Granted, it's a big game, but it's not worth compounding an injury by playing and then missing more games down the road.

I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't play tonight and the Kings won anyway... As Adelman indicated they don't really want Webber to play if he's hurting, and the Kings generally rise to occasions like injuries or big games. After their crappy performance in the last "statement game", they'll be fired up for this one, with or without Webber.

Cats been kinda shakey early in the games lately, expect him to go off tonight.

But we need CWEBB

Each joke ammused me less and less. Now its not funny anymore.

We are now, officially, beating a dead horse.

Disclaimer: Not a reflection of the specific joke, just the subject.

Unfortunately, G3, I think all of the flesh is going to be removed from the poor deceased equine before it's finally laid to rest.
