[WAS/CLE] Sticking it to the haters...

yet another traveling violation missed by refs. Lebron made at leas 3 steps before laying the ball in.

Either TNT didn't have a replay, or for some reason they didn't show it, but I never did see a replay where I could see Lebron's legs clearly, or the baseline clearly for that matter.

Unbelievable that he was able to stay in bounds. No idea on the traveling call (but now I'll certainly watch the highlights on NBA.com to check it out).

in the second and third games of this series, every time a questionable call was made in favor of the cavs, there were no replays. it takes all the spirit away from a sports event when so much is being decided by extra-basketball agents.

in the miami-chicago series, the home games for chicago were refereed so as to make a "competitive" series out of it. i have no reason to think that the nba favors miami or chicago in this match-up, but someone clearly wanted it to be more exciting than a sweep. it is a joke that all of a sudden the league decides to call the ever present "my elbows will hit your chin if you don't duck" maneuvre done by shaq.

the cleveland-washington series has to be won by cleveland. because, since kobe's personality is suspect at best, they need a new golden boy. lebron seems to fit that bill perfectly. he has talent, he is young, he is athletic, he is making things happen in a small town; all the makings of a basketball hero. he , or rather the league, cannot afford question marks about his success. he has to have a decent run in these playoffs, because that will show that he is no fluke. hell, even jordan could do this much in his first playoff appearance, and he was older, more experienced, blah blah. it is like watching a cheap american flick with all the cliches packed in for a few years of action. enjoy if you can.

That's 2 bad calls on game winners. Wizs should be up, I wish they were. It was a good game though despite the outcome.

Welcome to the club :)

Good to know that some others have also noticed that replay thing. When they were showing multiple angles on some of the jumpshots I was wondering how they didnt show multiple angles on the game winner.

Sorry to rain on the pathetic gotta have an excuse party, but the replay, FROM MULTIPLE ANGLES, is up over at NBA.com, and its clean. He gets in a last dribble just under the corner of the backboard (which you can hear from the normal view, but clearly see from several of the alternates), then its a quick 2 steps out in front of the rim and the elevation for the shot. Feet stay in bounds the whole time along the baseline too.

But I know, I know. They probably altered the tapes.

I still see 3 steps from the moment he stops driblling the ball

well, as long as it's not 3 steps of the variety that he got away with to win game 3, then that's just normal NBA basketball, right? [if I used emoticons, I'd put a wink here]

Its not 3 steps in any fashion.

Watch the 3rd angle -- there is no doubt. You can clearly see when the ball bounces back into his hands, and its a completely clean 1-2 and up.

i am pretty sure that there was no travelling and that is precisely why it is being put up on nba's website. what would clearly refute my argument would be an instance where lebron gets a call he should not and "that" is being replayed from all angles possible.

i am no conspiracy theorist. i don't think there is any conspiracy at all. this is just the way things are being run in the nba. money rules. if you want to label something as pathetic, try this preceding sentence for a change (hmm, again a pun?).

I haven't been able to watch the nba.com highlights at this point (something on my home computer about blocking pop-ups, I guess), so I'm not disputing your point...just thought that even if he did take three straight steps, guys seem to get away with that all the time anyway, and so not as much for Wiz fans to complain about (in my mind) as the blatant travel from Game 3 of this series.

im not sure about the play in question but there is no doubt that king james often gets calls his way since he is the nbas poster boy.

The undeserved hatred for James in this thread is remarkable; you'd think that his middle name was "Bean," or something...

since you made a general remark, i will have to defend myself on this issue.

i do not hate lebron. i hate kobe, but that is a different story. i just hate how he is being treated, how he is being marketed. i really don't care much for the players; they come and go. bird, magic, jordan, hakeem, etc. were all great players; i loved watching them. i was sad when they had to call it quits. but that the game of basketball remained as it should always was a remedy. now, the game of basketball is changing due to this stupid rules set forward by the nba. that is what i hate. lebron, being the primo uomo (this is a very gender transformation of prima donna; i doubt very much its correctness) of the nba of today, is annoying me. it is not him, it is his role that angers me.

i think that lebron is a very good player and will probably be one of the best unless all this pumping up gets to his head or he severely injures himself (neither of which i wish). but the personna of him being forcefed ad nauseum (good combination here) is ultimately damaging the game of basketball itself.

I don't think that the rules are changing because of LeBron James. I think, in fact, that the rules changed before he showed up. I think that the only thing that calls your attention to him more than other players who benefit from the "new" rules is the Hype™.

And the Hype™ is not his fault.

I don't know if it was travelling or not, but it certainly looked suspicious. In fact, when I watched the game live, I said to myself "travelling...", so it at least looked awkward - which is usually called in the NBA... who knows...

As I mentioend -- simply watch the highlights (if they're still up). It eliminates any question. First view you can see his feet were in on the baseline, third view you can clearly see the ball bounce and the one, two steps and then up. When it happened it was hard to beleive he scooted down that baseline. But the replays show he did just that, dirbbled, took two steps out, and then the layup.

I don't think he travelled (this time) but even if he did, you really need multiple replays to be 100% sure on this play. Any referee who even thinks of blowing a whistle on such an important play of such an important game without being 100% would be a complete and utter idiot. Wait, some of them are anyway... ;)

Let's not forget why "Jordan rules" came to be: Protecting superstar players and giving them benefit of the doubt in close-call situations in PO's first started back when thugs were winning NBA titles by being the biggest thugs around (although they were a great team too).

You will probably laugh at this, but LBJ is what you might call "deceptively slow" and he sometimes looks like he is travelling even when he isn't. ;)

In Game 4 he travelled, in Game 5 it just looks like he travelled.

.

Today halfway through the third quarter shaq has only one foul and heat leading by 14.

Obviosly lakers will get home cooking and will close out the series today.

Washington and cleveland will go 7 and probably atleast then they will let the players decide the game and be refs for the game not deciders.

Interesting to see shaq suddenly become a nimble atheletic player who is able to stay out of foul trouble.

alright, i gotta call bs on that non call. wtf, i know if it was lebron the other player woulda got a gdamn flagrant or some crap. what a joke.
