[Trade] Warriors have obvious Jonathan Kuminga trade demand after latest Kings reports

The rumor is he'd play the 4 and Keegan would go back to the 3 but I think we're at positionless basketball, they're both "big wings" in this scenario.

Yeh that’s a possibility. He’s smaller and not as strong as Keegan though so that goes against their desire to get bigger. Keegan is a better rim protector too. Maybe it doesn’t matter in positionless ball like you said.

I don't recall seeing them matched up on one another but was under the impression they were roughly the same size.

I'm happy we're only rumored for Kuminga and not Trae Young. That's got to be as good a reason as any to root for losses (or at least accept them as a necessary evil). It's hard for the front office to justify digging our hole even deeper by taking on another team's veteran castoffs when we're circling the drain like this.

Lmao, is the Warriors FO actually stupid? Do they seriously think they can keep posturing Kuminga as some coveted piece to their team?
If Perry is the one leaking the Kings being the only team in the league interested in Kuminga, that is actually some wonderful gamesmanship on his part because the Warriors keep trying to pretend they’ve got a robust star-filled market for a guy they refuse to play.

Beggars can't be choosers, and it's a tough middle to ride between "win now with Steph" and "don't take on significant future salary" when you're hovering around .500 in the Western Conference, especially when Kuminga, one of your few tradeable pieces, is glued to the bench. Golden State wants to have it both ways, and they can't. They already blew their "two timelines" strategy, so I don't know where they get the hubris; other front offices aren't going to be inclined to help them thread this particular needle.

Curry and Butler come off the books in 2028, so I understand the Warriors' desire to time their financial flexibility accordingly, but it means they're basically just going to tread water for two-and-a-half more seasons while providing no competitive pathway through Steph's final years in the NBA. They're going to have to sell their fanbase on a very protracted "one last ride" that has no discernable chance of delivering a second round appearance.

Now, Malik Monk doesn't change that. Nor does DeMar DeRozan. But that's about the value they can expect to get from Kuminga at this point, so either take a less appealing offer than you would have received in the summer, or accept that you overplayed your hand and figure out how to turn Kuminga into a productive player in Steve Kerr's rotation.

So why does Monk keep getting DNP's? I assumed it was because Kings have some handshake deal with another team and are just waiting until trading is possible. And I assumed that team was GS. But reports keep saying GS isn't interested in Monk. Monk makes some sense for GS as Melton has been terrible. Doesn't fix their frontcourt problems but Monk does help imo.

“Oh crap, our one trade piece has absolutely no value around the league and the only team that wants him is the Kings! Draymond, go on your podcast and try to boost his value despite the fact everyone sorta hates you too!”

I'm certainly no fan of Draymond's behavior in general, but he has been consistent about supporting Kuminga throughout all of the drama. He was hyping him up as a future star before the contract negotiations with the Warriors front office turned sour and he has quite often gone out of his way to compliment Kuminga on his work ethic.

Even if they don't have a hand shake deal, they may have determined that he is 90%+ going to be a traded and so they want to minimize any chance of him getting injured. Plus not playing him helps to lose games, which if it wasn't a priority early, it has to be now, even though they will never say it. So they don't play the one guy they "know" they can trade, who clearly helps the team be in a better position to win

That makes sense to me. Teams rumored to have interest in Malik Monk are Minnesota, Milwaukee, Houston, and of course Golden State, if a three-team trade can be worked out. And just look at all the injuries around the league right now, not just on the Kings.

Sacramento went 9-31 last night from three against Dallas, including three misses in the last 21 seconds. Monk would have been in the game, driving for a layup or shooting from deep, if these other considerations had not intervened.

If the Warriors are willing to torpedo Curry’s last years of viable championship window by holding on to Kuminga for way too long, they will regret wasting Curry’s final years.

Curry isn’t getting any younger. The warriors should take a Kings offer of DDR for Kuminga with a smile and like it!

DDR is a even worse fit there than he is in the Kings, he'd just get in the way of Butler

If the Warriors are interested in Bucks bigs (as was posted in another thread), and the Bucks are interested in Kings guards (as has been rumored), and the Kings remain interested in Kuminga… seems like there could be a deal to be made.

I don't think anyone buys this. Kuminga is gone before the deadline even if its for a pure expiring. This is a headache a vet team doesn't want to deal with. And this posturing is fooling nobody. Hes got to go
