[Trade] Warriors have obvious Jonathan Kuminga trade demand after latest Kings reports

If they don’t want monk then take Derozan this isn’t complicated. I really hope that we’re not incompetent enough to give up an unprotected pick for an unproven guy who’s about to walk from them
Here's the thing though. If our FO believes he's an all star and cornerstone player, (which, I'm dubious of), then you have to go get him. You can't let a guy you think had that sort of upside walk away.

I don't have that valuation on him, but he does have a rare upside that Sacramento rarely gets access too. They'd have to be right of course, but if you're going to swing, swing on a upside play like Kuminga

No way to hit a home run unless you swing hard. A lot can happen between now and 2030. A competent front office might even pick up a first-round draft pick.

From a selfish perspective, I want a Kuminga deal just so I have something mildly interesting to root for this year. My excitement for this current squad is at a low I haven't had in several years. For every player I'm somewhat interested in watching (Clifford), my interest is dashed with cold water (a glut of guards/no playing time). I can't imagine a scenario where they acquire Kuminga and then don't play him big minutes, so always fun to have the hope of a young player that might actually hit big (regardless of the percent chance of that happening). I don't believe we should go totally unprotected on a first, but I'm fine with something like top 5 protected. Kuminga's upside is still good enough he probably is the equivalent to a decent lottery pick in the future.

And if we aren't going to rebuild *newsflash, we arent* then frp should also become ammo to trade.

Just have to embrace that reality of this ownership group. There's going to be no reset, ever

LaVine has a player option for next season. DeRozan's contract is only guaranteed for $10 million next season if we waive him. And Sabonis may only be months away from asking for a trade. I think the reset is happening whether ownership wants it or not.

They'll find a way. Instead of fully investing in Keon and Carter to see if either can lock down a full time lead guard spot for the future, they got a vet to block them

The Kings still need to view he or any other target as an asset as well though. From the looks of it the Warriors haven't had their door beaten down with sign and trade offers and that's with a player very openly dangling. The smart play is to proceed with caution simply because of that fact. This is the same story of possibly overvaluing players only to find a completely invisible market trade wise at some point just like they found with Lyles and other players on the cap sheet now and in the past.

The Kings haven't fully reset but when they dealt Cuz they did partially go rebuild. The issue there was they immediately again tried to skip the line thinking George Hill and Zbo were going to lead the team to wins at the same time. Players like Hill, Zbo, VC, Koufos, and Temple gobbled up minutes that should have been prioritized to develop young guys like Papa G, Skal, and Justin Jackson.

The ZBo, George Hill, and Vince Carter signings all happened during Scott Perry's previous stint in the Kings front office too, though he wasn't the head guy in charge at that point and may have already been checked out since the Knicks made him their GM 4 days later.
