[Trade] Warriors have obvious Jonathan Kuminga trade demand after latest Kings reports

Jonathan Kuminga is reportedly open-minded to the idea of joining the Sacramento Kings as the uncertain future of the Golden State Warriors forward continues on further. ESPN reported on Thursday that Kuminga is in no rush to sign a deal with the Warriors, leaving the door open for the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns to continue exploring sign-and-trade opportunities. The Warriors still have the leverage of Kuminga being a restricted free agent and have thus far balked at offers from both teams, yet that could change if the Kings were to give in on an obvious trade demand.

It is certain warriors fans are going to be extremely disappointed by the end of this.

They aren’t getting Keegan Murray. I suppose it’s possible the Kings could cave on Keon but I’m not even sure how a Keon trade would work.

Devin Carter, Saric, and a protected first is actually a very good haul considering the circumstances and how low everybody knows the Warriors value Kuminga and how they absolutely don’t want to pay him.

The holdout is all because Warriors fans hold Kuminga in very high regard

I don’t even understand how the proposed trade would work considering Jk is around 25 mil a year. Sending 11 mil and a pick doesn’t add up. Seems the obvious answer would be include Derozen to Miami and maybe throw in an extra 2nd rounder to GS from Miami but not sure if Miami can just take on salary either so a player would have to move Rozier is the mentioned player. That would put us taking on additional 2 mil for 1 season. So bringing in 27 mil and sending out around 11 mil. How do we have the space

I’m not gonna lie all this media so-called analysis that essentially act as an echo chamber is starting to feel like the George Karl for coach campaign. It’s not quite as embarrassing as the washed up old man standing in the parking lot with a sign that read “will coach for food,” but pretty close. I’m not opposed to JK, in fact, I think he probably is the best option of the available forwards to straighten the ship assuming we can dump overpriced guard/Small forward salary to get it done. But this incessant echoing of analysis just gives me the creeps.

Honestly, if the Kings really want Kuminga a Keon/ lightly protected 1st package is not unreasonable. The reality is the Kings can't look at this as a normal sign and trade because the Kings have no leverage since they have no space. They will have no space next season either more than likely. This is a trade for a young player you clearly think enough of to convince him he's the man for your team. Just get it done or move on.

Could happen. If the Kings want him and are willing to wait it'll likely cost a lot more than the wants from the Warriors to clear enough cap to make a run at him next summer.

So it might turn out to be another thing like Fox, Tyrese, Davion where we think we have too many point guards and then woke up one day with zero point guards.

Kings have too many 6’3 combo guards but can just as easily enter the 26/27 season with zero if we trade Carter because the upcoming unrestricted free agent(who might be bitter about a cheap team option being picked up instead of being extended this offseason) was deemed untouchable.

Trading Keon would alleviate the responsibility of paying Keon which if this doesn't work could end up being a good thing potentially. The only real thing that could end up a disaster is if the Kings have to rebuild from scratch around Kuminga, Keon, and Keegan with them potentially taking up half the salary cap. Yes, there would still be some space but we've seen the Kings go around this same wheel before. It's a tight window if a team doesn't just rebuild the right way from the bottom up. We saw a rookie contract wasted with Cuz, we saw it with Fox. Starting to actually build around star players while still on bargain contracts is vastly important. The Kings consistently would go out and just load up the cap with role guys in an effort to "compete" their way into building a "winning culture". They consistently ended up building a middling culture by stonewalling themselves from building a legit talent core. Now the NBA isn't messing around, you better have good contracts on your books. Overpaying backups and role players is a death sentence these days.
