[Trade] Warriors have obvious Jonathan Kuminga trade demand after latest Kings reports

Frustrating saga all around. Warriors definitely not looking good in the eyes of agents or players though. I am pleasantly surprised we didn’t include Keon in the deal. I was hoping we would get him and was definitely open to Carter, Monk and some draft capital being moved to do so but at this point that seems very unlikely.

When can we actually trade Saric?

I have a feeling that is when this deal gets done. Monk, Saric, and Carter or a FRP. That would be a phenomenal deal.

Yeah I don't see Kuminga signing the QO at all. On the other hand why are the Warriors insisting on putting a team option and setting it up so they can f him of his Bird rights? What a trash organization to treat their players like that.

Kuminga is probably getting close to saying " F U" and just taking control of his career after next season. Its stunning that the warriors are just publically trying to play everyone like a fool when everyone knows the situation here.

They don't want Kuminga, Kuminga is done with them and they're holding him hostage. There's a reason the Kings and Suns aren't budging on their good young players; they know the Warriors are trying to posture. I hope he does burn them with the QO.

But he burns himself with the QO since it effectively re-starts his Bird clock. May as well take an MLE with any team that offers instead of 7 million for this season and an MLE next year. It will cost him ~$40 million to take that QO.

But then the Warriors can send him wherever, since he doesn't have the NTC. And the team option. And he'd have to go back to a team that actively doesn't want him and burned him publically.

At the end of the day, the 40+ mil probably wins out. But it's a pretty eye opening scenario

Well we can screw the warriors by offering him a one year at the Max we can pay and a Player option for year two with a trade Kicker.

I’d guess there’s a stalemate over the protections on the 1st rd pick. The Warriors are pushing for unprotected, Kings are probably pushing for heavy protections. Both sides will probably have to meet in the middle to get a deal done.
I'd bet the first being offered is something like 8-16 on the pick we already traded to OKC for Nique.

My take is that Kuminga is a good enough gamble to give one unprotected pick. Give the W's one unprotected pick and seal the deal.

the "no trade clause" is actually standard for Bird players on one year deals, which a team option would be. everything being negotiated is about Kuminga retaining Bird rights on his new team when he gets traded. I imagine Kings also aren't going to trade for a player they don't have Bird rights on like how we just got screwed with Jake.

Lol.

Of course in the "player agency" era where guys just dictate where they want to go... WE'RE the team that gets stonewalled on that.
Warriors really seem to be playing with fire by getting in the way though. If players are as empowered as we think they are this is sending a massive signal to agents around the league.

I think so too. Kuminga hasn't played winning basketball yet, but there's certainly flashes of offensive brilliance, he's only 22 and been with a team that hasn't been very interested in developing him. I love the fit with Keegan and locking down the wings for the next decade.

These are the sort of opportunities that don't come around every off-season. An opportunistic GM has to be willing to take that leap, especially for a team that's really looking to get out of the middle and firmly be in the discussions as a constant playoff contender.

Yeah, they're like trying to posture that Kuminga is so important to their future, when their own coach has said he doesn't want to play him. They're only offering some weird 2 year deal with a TO? Everything about how they've handled him says their done.. yet their not willing to let go?

I wonder if Steph/Dray or Kerr have gotten in the FO ear at all yet. They probably want Horford, they probably want their team set and not having to deal with this as a distraction for the whole season.

Does this mean we are confident in moving DDR? Or is DDR finally willing to come off the bench?

The question would be was Perry not able to move DDR at all? Or was he not willing to take no value? With the way value has dropped for certain types of players and teams not willing to pay almost anyone right now unless it's a superstar it would still be a shock if a team didn't want 20+ points on a not terrible contract for basically free in trade.

They didn’t trade Kuminga for Siakam or OG then proceeded to not develop him and now could let him walk when he signs a QO unreal assets management

Why send a first this is idiotic GSW can’t even make moves till this is resolved they do T have enough leverage for this

Remember we were told it’s a players league that’s why we ended up with the Fox deal we better not give up a first for a guy saying he wants to be here

C'mon Perry, show some guts. You believe in it, put your career on the line. The Kings as is aren't sniffing a top 5 pick. If the Kings jump in the lottery, eh, that would suck. Top 3 and consider it good.

The big difference is we're talking about a freshly signed player to a 4 year contract where Fox was a season and a half rental who promised to leave instead of sign an extension. We also got two unprotected firsts, a ton of seconds, and a player who is pretty good if you don't focus on his contract.

there's also the side question as to whether or not the team Fox demanded to be traded to even rated Fox as an asset worth chasing. they still haven't extended him despite him being eager to get that done and now he may be hurt.
