Top 4 protected in 2026 or 2027 top 10 in 2028.

Just give them the pick over that TBH. The Kings aren't rebuilding here, they're playing the slots again, just pull the arm and deal with it. Get that pick out now so there are no other issues when it comes to trades like with the Huerter situation. Odds are this will be like every other speeding up of the process for Sacramento where trades are the only real option moving forward. Protected picks with this current roster don't mean much unless the whole thing comes crashing down, then it's going to be a few years of muck anyway.

I’d give the unprotected pick so they can save face I guess. Am curious if the deal would be just done in the theory until saric is available for trade or what.

I mean honestly getting a 22 year old PF that really helps balance our roster and get Keegan to his more natural position is probably the best you could get with even a lottery pick in the next 4-5 years.

Remember we were told it’s a players league that’s why we ended up with the Fox deal we better not give up a first for a guy saying he wants to be here

Yeah, do it. The fact we're even getting access to a Kuminga type player is a damn miracle in itself. And he wants to be here?

If it actually pushes the Warriors to do it, fine. We should be opportunistic and take advantage of a situation

I feel like any lottery win should be protected. I agree they aren't likely. I'd probably say unprotected 2027 though, if they aren't demanding 2026.

Officially I believe OKC picked Nique so I think it would have to be 2027.

Maybe, some people thought DeMar was pushing this team back to relevance too though. That's why they need to get that pick out now if it comes to it. I'm not sure what a bottoming out around a Kuminga/Keegan star combo looks like but they better not risk losing picks in that window over what the Kings currently have. This current Kings team better be a legit playoff contender NOW. Kuminga is young but he's developed. This team is what it is at that point.

The big difference is we're talking about a freshly signed player to a 4 year contract where Fox was a season and a half rental who promised to leave instead of sign an extension. We also got two unprotected firsts, a ton of seconds, and a player who is pretty good if you don't focus on his contract.

there's also the side question as to whether or not the team Fox demanded to be traded to even rated Fox as an asset worth chasing. they still haven't extended him despite him being eager to get that done and now he may be hurt.
Also as Fox’s mystery leg injury would indicate, there is not as much wear on Kuminga’s tires as on Fox’s.

Is he really a PF? I am not super concerned pairing him with Keegan and calling them both big wings, but Keegan is actually the larger of the two?

feels like we’re probably trying to give the Warriors the Spurs pick swap pick (2030) and they’re asking for just a normal pick lol
I was thinking it could be the 27 pick that is half traded already, or a pick that we get in a DDR deal that maybe the other team is trying to put protections on (or even just "you get the lesser of these two" type deals)?

The language in some reports was "conditional" and not just "protected".

Still, '27 wouldn't be outside the same window of this roster I guess. The Kings right now can't even move off much of this salary until then so worst case gap year becomes 2. If the Kings jump in the lottery, keep the quotes to yourself Scott. Go somewhere safe. Hide, lol.

Damn it, I want this trade to happen. I’m only in the US until December, I have never caught a live game at Golden One. No better time than now to get my brother living near Sacramento to buy us a couple tickets. We caught a lot of games at Arco, but that was from 85 to early 2000’s. I think three strapping young wings in Keegan, Kuminga and Nique will be entertaining and lead to winning.

C'mon Perry, show some guts. You believe in it, put your career on the line. The Kings as is aren't sniffing a top 5 pick. If the Kings jump in the lottery, eh, that would suck. Top 3 and consider it good.

Lottery protected at best they get Carter and a top 8 protected pick then they gtt we a better deal than we got for Fox asinine. Can’t wait to see people in here justify that bull crap like everything else

What do you mean freshly signed? Kuminga is a free agent threatening to sign the QO that’s as bad as fox neither are rentals to the team there demanding to go too. We got one good first in the deal and that’s the Minnesota pick ages from now didn’t even get the spurs pick this year, no we get it in 2027 when they have two season to build and Wemby/Castle entering there prime. Six months later semi same situation happens in our favor and we have to give up Carter a lottery pick and another first when the next best offer is O’Neal and Richard’s. Offer them monk and a lottery protected pocket if they don’t want it move on perry claimed patience right then move on wait for a better player

Not for Carter and a first monk and a first sure we’re bidding against nobody Pheonix offer is trash bulls won’t trade for him who else is out there

Tossing in an unprotected first is wild to me. Have you met the Kings’ luck? That pick is instantly fated to land a franchise player as soon as we lose control.

Stick with us, and become the 9-15 range pick role player you were always destined to become. This is the way.

Unprotected pick in a sign and trade with a team that doesn’t even want that player and the player doesn’t wanna be there is the reason we’re laughed at by every fan base and media members

It appeared you were suggesting Kuminga has no value vs. Fox (who was worth multiple firsts and a good player on a bad contract) who was a rental and made it clear to the league he wasn't going to sign with anyone but San Antonio.

In a sign and trade, the proposition we are actually talking about here, we'd have Kuminga locked up for 4 years, at a fairly reasonable price. That's worth matching salary plus a lightly protected pick.

Fox should have more value than Kuminga in this situation both guys made it clear they want out one is literally a free agent fox had one more year. You can’t say we’d have Kuminga locked up for 4 years when the spurs would have fox locked up for that long as well

Two teams interested in Kuminga l, Suns offer doesn’t include a single young player or first but you guys want us to send Carter and a first for him just laughable

Personally I would say Carter or a first, but that's just me.

Fox and Kuminga's situations are different. Not sure why you aren't getting that, especially since the trade package for Kuminga is nothing like what we got for Fox, even if it left most of us unhappy. We already got Nique out of it and if by some weird chance SA is bad in 2027 we will get their lottery pick. And then we get a Minnesota pick in the future when they are expected to lose their star player.

Nobody here would’ve supported Carter and a first for Kuminga at the trade deadline now because we’re in talks for him yall a cool with getting rid of Carter l?! Ok same people backing signing Russell ****ing Westbrook

Why’s Fox and Kuminga situation so different both free agents both don’t wanna play for the team there on (Kuminga is literally a free agent fox wasn’t) and the only other team interested in Kuminga is laughing about giving up any young players in the deal

That 2027 spurs pick of utter garbage unless Wemby misses the season they literally have fox, a rookie of the year castle, and Harper that team won’t be bad. The Minnesota pick is just fantasy as well hoping that Edwards leaves if he doesn’t it’s a late first rounder. Meanwhile we give GSW a lottery pick cause we’re gonna suck as usual and Carter for a guy who is half as talented as fox and won’t resign with GSW oh and they won’t get a horrible contract like Lavine thrown at them

I view Carter and a future first about the same. It's one or the other for me, not both.

And matching salary.

That is significantly less than the Fox package. End of debate.

Veering back towards unlikely. This trade saga is bordering on silly. Have to stop getting sucked in haha
Same. I'm getting a headache following with each and every update. Just can't help it being a Kings fan and wanting better for my team...

“They’ve been pretty firm in the last few days, saying there’s a reason why it’s called ‘restricted free agency ‘and not ‘unrestricted free agency,’” Slater said. “They kind of hold the leverage on his future. Their preferred path clearly is the offer they put on the table; it’s short-term, it’s tradeable, that’s how they pitched it to Kuminga …”
Good luck to the Warriors in any and all future free agent negotiations. I'd probably not make cutesy sweetheart deals for my second rounders and UDFA if I was an agent with them either.
