If this was offered three years ago, I probably would have applied. Truth is I got bored of watching the games and I wanted to be a fan again.

Gregg Bell, former writer with the Bee, and Mark Kreidler, currently with the Bee, both gave me some good advice. They told me that if being a sports writer ever became a job to me, then it was time to leave. That's exactly what happened to me, so I left it behind.

I just wonder how much the pay would be.

Still, I had some good memories such as these below:

Dude, you look a lot like Marty Mac!!!

;)

Okay, I'm guessing you're the one standing next to Marty?

Actually dawg, this is Marty Mac. :D

All kidding aside, yeah that's me in the middle next to Marty with Chris Webber. You can also see me with a big smile in the picture above because Scot Pollard told some jokes as he pretended to be a reporter. It was something about Webber having hair like Buckwheat and then he said, "Otay."

Scot looks awfully tan in that picture...and his hair looks almost normal. I miss him. I'd love to see him come back here at some point and sit in with Jerry and Grant on occasion. He was so much fun.

You must have a lot of good memories of those days. I envy you.

I miss all of those guys from the 2002-2003 season. I really enjoyed talking to Mike Bibby, Doug Christie and Lawrence Funderburke the most. Hedo Turkoglu was a funny guy too.

I also got to work with Grant Napear, Jim Kozimor and Jason Ross. Grant said I was the best intern KHTK ever hired. Can you guess why?

I kind of never forgave him for calling Kings fans idiots.

You have red hair?

:p

I forgave him for that a long time ago. It was a complete misunderstanding. He didn't know about the "joke" Vlade had arranged. If anything, I blame Vlade for the whole deal.

Scot was angry because his friend, Jon Barry, was being booed by the Arco Faithful. I don't blame him at all.

It hurt you neck too much looking up at all the tall players. :D
Just kidding, well not really, but that must have been really awesome to be there asking the Kings players questions and interacting with them. Work is a 4 letter word, but to actually have fun doing it is awesome, sure makes the days and weeks fly by.

You know what's funny is I remember the Sacramento Bee photographer holding his camera up higher to make Webber look taller and myself shorter. I'm about 5'7" and Webber is 6'10", so yeah the Bee did their job in making me look like a total midget with a cheesy smile.

I like what you said about work and being able to have fun with it. That is why I work for a local community college providing counseling to our students and community members as well as teach career exploration. I love my job, it's fun and I make a difference and impact in someone's life. Of course, time does fly by quickly.

Last week I taught a class on the career planning process and used myself as an example. At the end of my presentation for the day, I shared that very same Webber picture (with Marty Mac) because I wanted to send a message that you can accomplish anything you want and pursue your dreams if you just work for it. I'm living proof and the message was received loud and clear.

Close, I guess. Actually, it was because I wore a New York Yankees hat. And, not because I like the team. I just like the hat. I'm an A's fan so go figure. :)
Wow, an A's fan wearing a Yankees hat because of style?? Thats like a me as a 49ers fan wearing a Cowboys hat because I liked the star emblem...just wont happen.:D Oh, my experience with working along side an NBA team, the Kings, was a dream 'job' when I ran the Kings affiliate radio station, KRLV, in Las Vegas. I miss it every day...too bad the parent company went bankrupt and shut down, I'd still be there. Oh well, life goes on.
