I think unless somebody is traded, the Monarchs theoretically have only 4 spots up for grabs, two on the active roster to replace Yo and Haynie, and the two spots on the inactive list which should be on the open market right now but were possessed last season by Smith and Frohlich (although she subbed for Walker).
With Scho out, somebody's going to have to suit up and play I'm guessing the first two weeks of the season so that will factor in who is kept for an IL space longer-term. I'm not thinking the competition is between Piekarska and Williams-Strong. That would put two rookies on the roster in the post behind Walker and Brunson. I don’t see that being practical since Williams-Strong has a year more in the system and actually performed well in it.
Piekarska to me is battling to beat out Smith, Marsh, Mitchell, Frohlich, Allen and whoever else might still be around for final cut days for a IL seat and I think who ever sticks there may stick out of break glass in emergency need positionally or because they want to hang on to their rights for the future. Piekarska could be like Cristi Greenwalt and comes back to camp next year if she doesn’t stick.

ON BUBBLE (for final spot and 2 Reserves) - Atkinson, Franklin, Frolich, Allen, Izabela, Smith
I would figure that the team needs a solid back up point (Franklin), and Atkinson and Smith has been on the team. Allen is a scorer. Frolich and Izabela. I hope that the final four spots will be taken by:
Atkinson (active)
Franklin (active)
Allen (inactive, taking Sho-Times' spot until she is healthy)
Izabela (inactive)
I have seen enough of Kim Smith for two seasons to know what she can do. I would think with the addition of Harper and Izabela would push Frolich out. But we will see come Friday night. GAME ON!!!!

In her update today, SacBee beat writer Debbie Arrington gives a schedule of the arrivals of our remaining roster. Looks like with Brunson arriving today, we've got 13 in camp now of the 16 left on the roster. Frohlich will get here over the weekend, DeMya next week, and Powell will be the last to arrive just before Opening Night.
