I agree.I'd rather have him rest his foot and ankle.
Derek Fisher is a candidate? Is that a joke?
A skills challenge isn't going to strain his ankle. Whether he should do it or not is another question, but let's not use the ankle as an excuse to dribble a ball in a cirlce and pass it through a hoop.
a) that thing is really a joke
b) think Reke was already going to pass on the frosh/soph game to est the ankle, so nto sure why he'd fly out to do some doofy drills
c) and really does not play to his strengths the way it does to a Steve Nash type
so while I appreciate your call for everybody to get Reke into the challenge, if it doesn't happen I am not going to be too upset about it
I voted 10 times last night and plan on continuing.
Do you truly believe he is a top 4 out of those candidates? Because if not, it's voting like this that gives us Yao Ming, TMac and Allen Iverson as starters.
This isn't the All-Star game, this is just an event -- and one of the sillier ones. There's no merit involved, no top 4 -- just who the fans want to see the most. Considering we never get any of our players in any of these events, I would like seeing Reke compete against Chris Paul, John Wall, Derek Rose, and whoever else. Especially if he's going for the Rookie/Sophmore game anyway. I'd vote for Omri in the three point shootout too if they gave us the chance.

I believe he WILL be the BEST out of those when its said and done.
uh.....Omri was selected for the Shootout competition last year. This isn't the All-Star game, this is just an event -- and one of the sillier ones. Nevertheless, that's what the league calls the "shootout." And it was boring. And poor Omri. I think he even said he'd never played Horse. Apparently spent his practice time working on shots he might actually get in a real game, rather than trick shots.Yeah but I'm not sure the Horse competition actually counts.
Bold words. I hope you are right, but currently the mindset and determination of Rose/Westbrook is far greater than what we see from Tyreke. At this stage, when you're dealing with these kinds of talents, it's all mental. How much do you want it? How much work will you put in? How real will you be with yourself in assessment of weaknesses? What are you willing to give up to be the best?
Is Omri gonna make the sophomore team?
I suppose it's possible. The squads are nine-men teams, but I don't think there have been any really stellar wing players in the sophomore class - lots of PGs. There are Casspi and Reggie Williams, and then I think you have to dig down to Chase Budinger, who isn't a likely selection at this point. Wes Matthews, DeMar DeRozan and James Harden could sneak in to occupy a wing slot, though. I'd figure that Serge Ibaka, Taj Gibson, and DeJuan Blair are the big-man candidates. Then, there's a long list of PGs - Evans, Curry, Collison, Holiday, Lawson.
For a first pass, I'll say the team is:
Curry
Holiday
Evans (might pass, would go to Lawson?)
Matthews
Harden
DeRozan
Ibaka
Gibson
Blair
And Casspi is the first man out.
I think the Rookie team might be an easier call at this point. I'll go with:
Wall
Bledsoe
Turner
Wes Johnson
Fields
Griffin
Favors
Monroe
Cousins
Gary Neal is making a case, but I'm not sure anybody else is. Perhaps Ed Davis if he goes on a hot streak.
