There are more pictures with the Katrina Relief at the Kings website:

I'm sure most of you have seen them, but just in case ... :)

You're right about being CLEAN SHAVEN ... I can remember times when he looked younger when he wasn't clean shaven - that would be during the season. I guess he doesn't look all tired and his face looks tight. During the season there'd be bags under his eyes .... wouldn't be smiling.

He looks rested ... that's what it is !!! LOOKS HAPPY - NOT STRESSED

Look at this one ....

Damn, why can't he coach us and not the lakers? I miss him being a part of OUR organization.

It was pretty simple I think: Live in L.A. or live in Sacramento.

i live in the san fernando valley and i consider it la.... well it is, but ya know... im not really in los angeles-los angeles...

Because he's a Los Angeles Laker at heart. Its like comparing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with the NY yankees.

The devil rays have never done anything. You can't make that comparison. If you wanted to compare us with a team of another sport you could compare us with the bills(even though we haven't had their success, but still. Very close, no title). The lakers to the kings is like the niners to the bills.
And what do you mean laker at heart. Sure he started his career there and he went to the finals, but he had the best times of his career in sacto, and if he were to retire for a team, it would be the kings, not the lakers.

I doubt it.

So ur saying chris webber won't retire a king? Cause he didn't start his career in sacto and now he's in philly. I don't get why u would think that vlade would rather retire a laker than a king.

I do not think our history compares to the Bills. They won four straight AFC Championships. We have never even been to the Finals. We are more like the Houston Astros, but probably not even that good. The Astros never had 15 consecutive losing seasons.

Regarding whether Vlade holds the Kings or Lakers more dear, I think his actions have spoken louder than his words.

In case somehow this was missed the first time, IP is L.A. area.

Don't feed the trolls.

As for the coaching job, who knows. It is, however, fairly common for retiring players of note to be given some sort of job with the team they retired with. Wouldn't worry too much about this year. Where he coaches in future years, if he coaches at all, would be more telling. Suspect the geography will always be an issue though. Would rather live in L.A. than Sacto, and might make it touhg for him to actually be a Kings bench coach. Not at all sure he'd be great at that anyway -- Vlade has never impressed me as a long hour work through the ngiht sort of guy. Might always be best as a scout/public relations/front office/perhaps post player tutor type of part time guy who doesn't have to show up every single day.

That was what I was thinking as well since the Kings haven't been to the Finals.

Gosh, talking about the Bills reminds me of Bills vs Giant, I forget the year, but they were so close. I sort of felt bad for the kicker then.

One of my best friends from law school was from Buffalo, a huge Bills fan, and was still traumatized by that missed field goal. Any combination of the words Norwood "Super Bowl" or "wide right" would set her off. :)

Ok maybe I shouldn't have said the bills, but you know what I mean. And plus, I think were closer to having the "being so close" success of the bills rather than having the "dreadful" misfortunes and failures of the devil rays, wouldn't you agree?
