Villanueva to Milwaukee

Prospect
This virtually guarantees that Magloire will be moved. It is expected that he will go to the Wizards, I wish we could work a three-way with them so we could get either Etan or Magloire while ridding KT from our roster.

Too much wishfull thinking?:p

^This isn't news.

But this is:

Magloire on hold: Harris said no deals were imminent involving veteran center Jamaal Magloire, who is entering the last year of his contract and will be paid $8.3 million next season.

The Bucks would like to acquire backup help at the shooting guard and small forward positions, but thus far they have not found the right deal.

The 28-year-old Magloire would like to move to another team where he can play a more prominent role and increase his value for a future contract. He started at center for Milwaukee last season, but the Bucks have committed to 7-footer Andrew Bogut, who will move from power forward to center next season. Newly acquired Charlie Villanueva will be the starter at power forward.

"I've told Jamaal, 'I'm not going to give you away,' " Harris said. "Not a guy that's 10 (points) and 10 (rebounds) and is a starting center in the NBA. We're actively trying to do some things that make sense for him and for us.

"The future of our franchise is the man to my right (Villanueva) and Andrew Bogut. It's just the way it's going to be. But Jamaal still can be an integral part of what we're going to do."

This comment says to me that they don't plan on starting big cat but if he doesn't mind being a role player( which he will) he can stay.

(Sorry for old news first time I had seen it:o )

Either way, I'm not nearly as savvy as some of you folks on cap room and salaries and that stuff, but they say they need help at the two and three so maybe we could get rid of KT and someone else. Garcia would probably be enticing to them but I don't think GP (or anyone else) is really in a rush to get rid of our next Doug Christie;)

No matter what the Bucks say they are looking to dump Mags. Gadzuric is their guy off the bench and if they can fill a need by trading Mags they will. Another report about a week ago listed four teams interested in Mags and the Kings were one of them. Hopefully GP is trying to get KT to Milwaukee just like he did last year.

Hmm. The shoe seems to fit.

Ya I agree, if we bring back Bonzi, then we could do a KT and Garcia swap for Magloire. A Miller, Magloire, SAR rotation as our big man rotation would be a good one. There would be enough minutes to go around for all of them.

Yes but Magloire wants to go to a team where he can play a "Prominent" role, where he can increase his value for his next contract. That won't happen backing up Brad Miller. I also don't know if I'm ready to let Garcia go yet either.

Well a Miller/SAR/Magloire rotation would have them all averaging 32 min/game if time was doled out equitably. That's assuming you'd want to play Miller and Magloire on the floor together, which would work against some teams but not others.

That is true. But maybe we could get a backup PF who could play 12 minutes a night? That way Miller and Magloire wouldn't have to play a whole lot together. That would give the other three 28 minutes a night. That's not a whole lot, but if we were winning games at a good rate, I don't think anyone would complain.

It would suck to lose Garcia, he is very versatile and can play 3 positions and I liked his tenaciousness before he hurt his ankle last year. Ron seems to be rubbing off on his fellow New Yorkian. :D
KMart is definately our future. Can we trade KT & Hart for Mag? That would work or KT & Potatoe, or Corliss.

We have to use our $11M in expiring contracts wisely to sweeten the bitter apple that is KT. :D

We had way too many people riding the pine last year, while I expect this to change greatly with out new coach, why not try to trade a few scrubs and get what we need? Also it frees up more space for young guys like Justin Williams, Louis, Taj, etc who we can sign cheaply and use them from time to time. Look how fast Garcia progressed last year because he got a lot of playing time compared to KMart's 1st year that was somewhat stunted and he emerged this year with Bonzi going down with injury.

I don't think they're gonna accept scrubs. In the quote above the guy told Magloire he's not going to just give him away, so i think KT and Hart, or KT and potatohead would not be worth it for the Bucks. After all they'd be giving us a walking double-double with the right playing time.

I say if it were to happen Garcia would probably be involved and as I said before I personally would not like to see him go but......... we still got K-mart huh;)

Garcia can play 3 positions so he is very versatile to us as a great swingman. They would probably want Garcia in the deal which gives them a very good crop of young guys in Bogut, Villanueva, and Garcia probably the best of near the top in the draft the last few years. Garcia played better than other people selected before him, and Villa did good, and people were expecting a lot from Bogut so they'd be set for years. We might have to do this to rid ourselves of KT, then with Corliss's contract of 6.5M coming off the books next year and Potatoe's 3M or so we'd be finally clear of Webber's 20M contract. It would have been nicer though to still have Webber and have his 20M coming off the books in 1 lump sum, time to do a little shopping. KG, will this do it for you??? :D

KT averaged 9.1 and 7.5 last year. Not too far off from M's 9.2 and 9.5 last year and they get a backup PG as well. Minutes per game was 28 for KT and 30 for M. A couple more minutes for KT and I think he'd get another rebound to get them really close and maybe outscore him as well.

Add 1.10 BPG to those stats(in 30 MPG), and I say we have a guy who rebounds, blocks, and will probably get you 8-10 points a game.

A downside is his stripe shooting, a dismal 53% last year. Suprising because years back he shot in the low to mid seventies percentage wise, maybe he forgot how to do it.:)

KT is barely a PF. Magloire is a legit center. Numbers aside, at least consider their physical presence in the paint before making any inopportune comparisons. That said, if you're trying to convince the Bucks, by all means, carry on.

Oh, I know, but numbers alone aren't too far off. And believe me, if I could convince them I would. ;)

Those are good points. Here's the benefits each team would receive IMO.

We'd be getting a C. That is harder to find than a PF or wing player.
We would also wipe KT's contract off the books.

They'd be getting two talented players. (Say what you want about KT, but he does put up similar stats to Magloire)
They wouldn't lose Magloire at the end of the season for nothing.

Magloire's stats weren't as good because he doesn't fit in the Bucks system, and was not a main option or focus there.

I'd still love to get him, and would put Garcia in the deal as much as I like him, as long as we got back David Noel.

Maybe we could trade Bonzi and KT for Magliore and Joe Smith. That way we get the Center we need, and we change KT's contract into one that expires next year. They get an awesome player in Bonzi and they have the cap space for the next 4 years to handle KT's jumbo contract.
