Viewing Party for Weekend Games

#1
Alright folks....MS&E? You remember how they couldn't plan anything for round one because they were so wrapped up in planning for the next round? Scrap that, there are no MS&E plans for this round. Zero, Zilch, Zippo. The only way I will not gripe about this crap is if every freakin MS&E employee is on a bus tomorrow to Anaheim/LA for the game(s) this weekend to root the Monarchs on. And I freakin mean that's the ONLIEST way I stop complaining about them not following through on what they said they were going to do.

I'm told they *might* be putting something together if the Monarchs advance out of the WCF...eh...whatever.

Damnit...since we're now responsible for gathering ourselves together then here's the plan. We're meeting @ Players on
Sunrise and Fair Oaks on Saturday for game 2 tipping @ 6pm. If we need a game 3 then stay tuned for that, but it's going to be at Players regardless.

Let's pack the place people. And those of you going down to SoCal, y'all better pack your respective arena(s) with some boisterous traveling thunder. [yes, I'm very fired up right now on a variety of levels]

Monarcsh Playoffs 2006 "We Run This"

Join the Club MBF

I totally felt the same way last year...

I took off work so I could be there for the WNBA Finals.

Was told that they would be putting something together just for the STH's before the players left.

So I passed on the parade because going home and coming back for the Parade was a little much to ask and I had really goten quite a bit out of my employer regarding the Championship run.

So imagine how totally disappointed I was as players started to filter out. I know I am only one person and the info wasn't an official correspondance. But Damn... This was the ****in Championship. And we deserved to get some individual love from the team.
Those of us who were there night in and night out.

They say that they will be having an end of the year gathering. Personally I don't believe it. No disrespect but I just don't think they are that organized or that interested as the Kings season starts to roll around.

The Idea of a Booster Club has come up. Maybe we should start one and not even depend on MS&E to do things. God Bless them, they try but you know...

With that being said, I was talking with a few folks and we want to go to San Antonio next season or Minny. I also have a friend who is a travel agent. I would bet that she could put a wonderful package deal together for no more than 300 for air/room/transportation. Then we could tell them when we want to go and set up something nice for the players to come to. Like a nice lil reception.

If we did it, we could pick a date that doesn't overlap, no back to back games and at a time when the players could truly relax and spend quality time with us.

Well I think we are gonna do it anyway. If anyone else want to get on board Let me know.

Funny you should mention San Antonio....Mr 4Play and I were conversatin' about that. He and I had done some games together in Texas back in 2003 and our first stop was the Riverwalk in San Antonio and we found the Best Damn Margaritas PERIOD (Fox lawyers, if you're lurking, I'm claiming a fair use appropriation) and how much we miss these margaritas is ALWAYS a part of a conversation for some reason. ::shrugging shoulders:: ;) With that said, he had dropped the idea the other night of us boardsters trekkin to San Antonio and Houston. We can peruse the schedule when it comes out and see if there's a game or group of games that makes sense. So keep that on your radar screen.

I don't know what's up with them this year, they did seem much more organized and gung ho last year. I never heard about a player thing after the Finals, so I can't comment on them renegging on that. The Kings season is not close, and the have a season going on RIGHT now that should have their full attention.

I'm in for boostering or at the very least making the effort to party amongst ourselves.

Where is the love?

I think they are too caught up in getting votes lined up for the Arena proposition. I guess they are sure they have our votes so why waste the effort.

Overall, from an economic developers view, it is a great move for the county. They should have been tougher and gotten at least the parking concession though. The Maloofs say "rollover" and they do.

...They [Sacramento County] should have been tougher and gotten at least the parking concession though. The Maloofs say "rollover" and they do.

That's because no politician wants to take the blame if the Kings leave town. They don't want to be known as the guy (or gal) who let the Kings leave. For a politician, that would be career suicide, so they end up getting cold feet, and bend to the will of the monied interests (in this case, the Maloofs).

It's sad, but that's a politicial reality these days. In here, as well as other major cities with pro sports teams. :(

Guys, let's keep this discussion on-topic and not drift into arena talk. There is an entire folder of threads devoted to the Arena discussion on this forum for that.

I'm sorry, I tend to disagree about the love. I think it is up to each individual STH to demand the love. I have a great relationship with my Season Ticket Rep Desiree Paxson. She hooked my children up with suite tickets for free for last night's game, and has held my hand throughout the year with my stupid questions and demands.

I think MS and E is doing a fine job in the midst of what I think is a very tenuous time for all of them from the court to the consession stand to the front office. For those that may not have gotten this e mail it says.....

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]Dear Donald,

We received great feedback from fans like you at the end of the 2005 season requesting an opportunity to say good-bye to the Monarchs after their spectacular playoff run. In response, we will be hosting an exclusive Monarchs Good-bye event for MVPs like you within 48 hours of the Monarchs last game of the post-season. The time, date and place will be determined closer to the event.

What is a Monarch's Good-bye event? It sounds like forever.

On an individual level I think by and large the services reps do a fabulous job taking care of individual needs. In the bigger picture, I think they've missed the boat this post season for providing that same level of concern and support for the grander fanbase. I do appreciate how tenuous the times are, but that doesn't or shouldn't mitigate their sense of obligation to the fans of the team currently in-season. My beef with the circumstance that caused me to create this thread is that they said they were planning something for this round. The sense of what I got re: their planning is they've been calling around to find places to hold something now that Joey B's is done and that's it. Despite the fact that they wanted to excuse the fact that unlike last year they did not have anything planned for the first round of the playoffs, they would have something together for the next round. What set me off is that they don't and apparently never had any. Why is that? Not that my life depends on them doing something, I just want to understand why they apparently can't or didnt - when it was something that clearly was a priority for them last year, and from what I heard...was very well received. If they are going to get out of the business of gathering the fans together somewhere, then say so or at least stop pretending its something they're considering.

Okay, so back to the fan gathering at Players...

MBF- We still going to get there to watch the Det/Conn game first? I just noticed the game starts at 1:00 and ours doesn't start till 6:00. We could hit up Carmelita's in between or something since it's a rather large gap.

#13
I figure with Carmelita's we could just stagger across the driveway. ;) But if we have the same waitress... we'll be lucky to have even had a cup of water by then! Then we could hit up any number of restaurants that are in that general area.

I also heard Jammin' Jo will be hosting a viewing party at Club 21, and I also heard the restaurant there will have food available...for what it's worth.

MBF, I'm with you re: lack of enthusiasm from MS&E. I felt it most of the season....or maybe it was me...:( There weren't nearly as many giveaways. The in stadium stuff is old...sorry, I really like Sean Allen better than the 2 women emcees. But I would have thought there was a viewing party for every away playoff game. They want more season ticket holders too, so, hey show them the love....and show us current MVP's too....so we keep coming and tell everyone what a great organization you are. I'm not saying that's the only reason to be an STH, but if they want butts in the seats they need to do a little more. My rep, Jamie Sempek, is no longer working there, so I have to call whoever for anything. I did contact Worker Bee, Greg, for a ticket for round one for a friend. But since Jamie left, no one's said "Hey section 102, 101 and whatever other section she had, we'll take care of you". And, that is unusual for the usually customer focused MS&E.

Hmmmm....I hadn't actually planned on staggerin' after the first game, will I need to be your designated staggerer en route to Carmelitas? ;) Now if our game two is anything like game 1 was last night - I may be double barrelled by the first media time out. ;)

Shoot...we could order something, go to Uncasville, watch the game in person come back before that waitress brought it or forgot to bring it or figured out that our table was still in her service zone.

#16
No freakin' kidding! And then she'd bring it to us and get confused about what we ordered... and leave us with the Sniff Test again before bouncing off! :D

And noooo, I will not be needing an escort. Gotta eat first ;)

Luv13 says she'll be joining the party.

Alright you two...I'll be joining you after work...how much catching up will I have to do? I'm just trippin since I work on a Sat.! Worked till 5:30 tonight.
Sat. may be the same...so you all keep the party going till I roll in.
Just make sure we are winning & running , then Work will have been a distant thought. Lookin forward to seeing you all & getting a WIN...

Jamie was my Kings STH rep, too, for the last 2 years. She was great and will be missed.

She bet' be joining the party...I'm tired of her stiffin me and my elaborately planned events. ;)

Hey I am putting off Birthday Celebrations for The Mother Of Me to join you guy.
Wassup with the lack of Luv for The Me.

It was the Chaka Khan thing wasn't it? Chaka is alright. LUV13 will be there with Bells on. Well with the Orange/Red/White/Purple and Her "Ab-Ness" Mojo. I need to get a bigger Bag.

Hey...I put the ol' winky eye there...;)

I'd already spoken to you about your dissin' my parties, this should not be new news....;) (see, 'nother winky eye). I told you when we met at Stanford for the Tennessee game that I figured you were going to diss me again there too. Lucky for you you didn't or else I'd be doggin' you out for those transgressions. But you can ask NBH...I'm very much above public dog outs like that ;) (more winky eyes)

I'm am designating MamaB as the official catcher'uper. I apparently have no cognitive ability to remember anything from any game I purportedly watch that does not involve the Monarchs. I will just nod and say, "that Det/Con game was great" I will get into no more detail than that unless I actually remain conscious during that game.

Hey MBF...mentioned your famous slogan on Rebkell...The Mercury fan loved it,thinking about borrowing it for their Run next season.

WE RUN THIS...MONARCHS #1

I want residuals if the Merc fans are going to use it. Why they wanna jump on board with that all second hand? I mean, shoot...2005 All the Way Live is still sitting around unused. ;)

I plan on us using every last drop of the mojo from the slogan this year, so they definitely will be welcome to it next year, I'll even see if they can have "women on a mission" or "have you ever been part of a team...?"too.

We ran into a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle problem while we were here @ Players. They essentially, um, kicking us out of here in a couple of hours so's they can charge people to watch Ultimate Fighting Championships later this evening.

If you were heading here, we are now on our way to Hangar 17, downtown.

Sooooo meet us at Hangar 17 @
