It's been a while since I shared some of the sites on My Favorites list. So here are some more for you to check out and hopefully enjoy:
1. This first site has a lot of information about fads through the past decades. The further back you go - it stops with the 20s - the more interesting the fads. http://www.crazyfads.com/
2. I think it's pretty well known that I love history sites. This site is absolutely huge and I've spent hours at various times just checking out some of the interesting areas. I especially like the photographs. http://www.whitehousehistory.org/
3. I think everyone should have this site on their favorites list, if only to make sure nothing they have in their homes has been recalled. I try and check the site at least once a month - just to be safe. There is a lot of other information here worth checking out. It's the Consumer Product Safety Commission site. http://www.cpsc.gov/
4. This site really intrigued me, living in the forest with tons of trees and all. I had no idea they actually used FAKE trees to camoflague cell towers. http://www.fraudfrond.com/
5. This site is fascinating with some marvelous photographs. It's all about those hours of darkness. You know, the times when normal people are tucked in nice and comfy in their beds? Be sure and check out the gallery. http://www.thenocturnes.com/
6. The greeting on the front page of this site says, "Welcome to Plastic Soldier Review, for news and information on 1:72 scale plastic soldiers." This is a great site - if you or someone you know is into plastic soldiers. I had NO idea there were so many different types available. I wonder if they'd consider manufacting a set of Kings players with their feet nailed to the floor, ala my comments of the famous Green Plastic Army Men plays of the series against the Sonics? http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/
7. This site is actually to tout a book about film-making ("The Story of Film") by Mark Cousins. There is a fascinating test here, however, that challenges you to identify what films from various eras are depicted by a series of stills. It's a lot tougher than you might think, unless you're REALLY a film buff. http://www.storyoffilm.com/
8. I love paper airplanes. I sure wish I'd had access to this site back in school when being able to construct a plane that could fly out the window and across the quad made you instantly the envy of all your peers. The guy who created the site holds the Guiness record for paper airplane flying... http://www.paperplane.org/
9. I adore coffee. Until recently, however, I didn't really think of coffee as having the potential to be used as a medium for creative expression. Some very interesting work here, done all with coffee. http://www.justcoffeeart.com/
10. This site is addictive. It presents the 86,800 most frequently used words in the English language. You can enter a word and find out where it lands on the list - basketball is 19,433 - or you can enter a number and find the appropriate word - "ay" is #17,317. I don't know when I'll ever need this information but it's fun. http://www.wordcount.org/main.php
