"The Kobe Video Guys" claim they chatted up Bryant for about 15 minutes and he talked about his desire to play with Ron Artest and how he could keep him in check if he were in Los Angeles. He also hoped the Lakers could make a deal for Jermaine O'Neal in the off-season, which made it seem like he wanted to remain with the Lakers at the time, but we are only left to imagine what that must have sounded like as he stood in the parking lot in front of the Sharky's Mexican Grill."

This is out of Sport Illustrated:

Veeery interesting. Could Petrie try and swing something here? Or are the Lakers gonna pull a move? Or he just crazy. Who knows. But whats interesting is that he mentions two Indiana "connection" guys, one of whom wants to continue playing for the Kings, the other who is now in Trade rumours (see other thread) to come to the Kings.

As I've said before, use Kobe as the King's agent. Petrie should float a deal publicly (unamed source, of course), let Kobe get a whiff of it, have Kobe appeal to Laker's management to get the deal done. Kobe could put more pressure on the Lakers to do a deal than Petrie ever could.

kobe to kings
oneal +filler to lakers
martin, miller to the pacers

bibby/price
kobe/salmons
artest/garcia
rahim/williams/corliss/thomas
draft pick/williams

that lineup would be sick

There is no way Kobe is traded to the Kings and IMO he won't be traded at all, but I do believe the Lakers will make a bunch of moves to appease him which could work to our advantage. The thing is though, would do they have that we would want? Bynum and their 1st round pick are the only things I can think of.

I agree that I don't see Kobe being traded, but with that quote, this opens the door for Petrie to hold out for a prime package from LAL, if they believe that Ron can push them over the hump. It would suck to trade him to them, but if it nets us their pick, Bynum, and something else, I'd do it. Hell, even for Odom.

What I think is more likely is Kobe going to CHI for trash, some of that trash going to LAL with KG, and picks, plus the prime parts of the deal, going to MINN.

Either that or Orlando.

The article is talking about Artest being traded to the Lakers

Great Idea the #19,#40,#48 picks are looking very good to me right now.
Petrie should deffinitely look into what he could get done.

That lineup would be no better than the Lakers lineup from last year. We would get bounced in the first round and Kobe would be trying to pull all this self-entitlement crap here.

It mgiht be better than Lakers -- there are three guns there. But then again, maybe not. The three guns are dysfunctional. And the frontcourt...3 on 5 anyone? In any case, the lakers simply are not going to send Kobe to us of all teams.

The deal I still like is Artest/Salmons for Bynum/Brown and perhaps with the Lakers becoming desperate to appease Kobe, the Kings could eek out the #19, but definitely the #40.

Highly doubtful we get BOTH of the Lakers centers at once without them getting back any frontcourt help. In fact, if they do move Bynum, with their concerns he wil develop into a legit star down the line, I would not be surprised if they really push to use him as a way to unload the ugly Radmanovic contract.

Would you take Bynum and Radmanovic for Artest?

Yes I would I think. Big young center prospect = very rare commodity. Our very own legit young big man...it is no exaggeration at all to say that in the entire history of the Sacramento Kings we've only had a handful of those, and maybe only the very first one (Thorpe) panned out.

bibby+kobe+artest+rahim = NOT ENOUGH BASKETBALLS EVEN IF THEY ALLOWED 3 BALLS IN THE GAME AT THE SAME TIME.

I'd like #19 to get squeezed into it or at least #36....but if not, I think I would reluctantly.

I think I would do it without the picks but I wouldn't refuse them if they were included.
