FWIW, if there was ever a time for a major pro sports team to be named after a state, it would be for one based in Virginia Beach. You're talking about a metropolitan area with 6 towns basically the same size and the main downtown being in Norfolk, which is about 15 miles west of VB. Naming the team after the nicknames of it's metro area would confuse out of towners. That would be "Tidewater" or "Hampton Roads".

Plain and simple, Virginia Whatevers would have to be the name. Just as long as it isn't Kings.
