Tyson Chandler Traded

The question I have is, does this put the Hornets over the top? They are basically adding a bunch of complimentary pieces. And just like us last year, they have nothing to compliment. That is too much salary for players that realistically won't put you over the edge.

I think that they will use some of that money to resign some of there young players. But Damm we could have offered more to the bulls then what they are getting from NO.
Who will they have to re-sign next year? All of their young players will still be under contract for another year at least, except for Nocioni, and I'm pretty sure that the Bulls will have enough money left after Brown and Smith come off the books to give him a raise AND get another quality player, if they want to.

I would think they would give all of them an extenison before they hit the market. That way no other team would get a chance to get them. Thats something the pistons should have then with Ben, lol.

I have another team in the West to root for now they have 2 of my favorite players. We could have got Tyson here but oh well.
I really am wondering what GP is waiting for however. There's going to be no-one left for him to work his magic with.:(

Nocioni expires and Hinrich is due for an extention. People forget that they will add 4 million in Thomas and Sefolosha this year which will be 5 million next season and Knicks' pick in the next draft will take 2-3 million as well.

Mr. Paul is the centerpiece.

And now he's got a nice strong team around him at every position. That's a playoff squad. Not a championship squad. But a group who, injuries aside, should make it back into the top 8 again. Also kind of an interesting group just in the basics of how it is constructed -- kind of one of every type of player: the penetrating star PG, the slashing athlete, the shooter, the finesse shooting/scoring big man, the rebounder/shotblocker

Just not much size in the FC aside from Chandler's height, or inside offense from the front-court. Definitely young, athletic and energetic though. Not really any perimeter d unless Snyder (who I dig) develops into something, and Desmond Mason proves to be effective, as he wasn't really last season except for dunks.

Aside from those things, a good, improved team.

Armstrong?
Simmons?
Marc Jackson?

Marc Jackson? As your inside offense? lol.

Hilton and Simmons are rookies, they need a handful of years to develop. Simmons moreso than Armstrong (Simmons isn't as NBA-ready as Armstrong). But with a younger starting front-court as well, that'll hinder their development when one of them should be starting. I'm certainly intrigued by both though.

Also if you have Marc Jackson, he'd either be a back-up and play at both PF/C or be a third man....

a) neither of those guys should be starting
b) I was referring to your contention about lack of size -- 7'1" Chandler 6'11" Armstrong 6'10" Jackson + Simmons and West who I think are 6'8" to 6'9" is solid if not spectacular size across that frontline along with 3 shotblockers. maybe not great, but certainly bigger/longer than we are even if you count Potapenko as a real player.

if i am a hornets fan i have to be happy about an offseason that includes picking up peja/bjax and chandler. chris paul will be a superstar in this league. they have been fortunate thus far for sure.

This could be really good or really disastrous. All of the players they have come with injury "baggage" and are not the most durable. We all know if Peja tweaks a pinky or something he's out for 4-6 weeks and B-Jax was healthy last year but with the way he plays and the advancing age it may catch up with him.

I think Hilton Armstrong could start, especially on a team in development. But, that's obviously hindered now with Chandler and West there. Ditto Simmons.

Hopefully they can get some time in NBDL if there isn't enough time during the reg. season.

Agreed Ryle... B-Jax though, didn't really miss much last season.. so hopefully that continues for him, and starts for Peja.

oh well. I knew we wouldn't get him anyways. GP better have a back up plan on getting a big.

I'm being optimistic that Petrie will pull off a trade for someone we havent discussed that will help the frontcourt.

Well, the Bulls chances of getting KG lessen a bit because of Chandler gone. Still have pieces to possibly do it, just not as good now.

Far as chandler to Hornets goes, just a matter of time. Already said how I feel on that.

I'd hope so, from our stand-point, at least we fill a need and get a decent/solid back-up center. Would be another step towards gathering and improving our interior defense. Then would just need another guy at PF (who knows maybe even Brad/KT both gone eventually :p ).

Chandler probably would of liked to play for the Kings too. JR Smith is still a decent prospect, just a matter of him putting his head on straight.

Unless it's the ghost of Wilt Chaimberlain, I think we've pretty much discussed everyone.

That ghost has got some moves man! :p

And my money's on the ghost being able to take any of the remaining free agent big men in the market.
